Weekly Recap #31: Week of 12/10 – 12/16
It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
I hope everyone’s holiday plans are coming together nicely. I think I’m about as ready as I’m going to be. I still have 2 or 3 small gifts to purchase for my son to give his grandparents but otherwise I’m good on that front. Next up is more holiday baking. Our cookie exchange at work was fun, but I still have a lot of cookies to make for the family. My mom has volunteered to cook the Christmas Eve meal so I’m excited about that. All I have to make is a dish of homemade mac and cheese and I’m off the hook for everything else.
My son is going with some friends to see the new Star Wars movie this morning. I’m jealous since I’m dying to see it too but am hoping to get to it sometime later this week before he spoils it for me, lol. I want to see both that and Pitch Perfect 3 while I’m off from work over the holidays.
On the blog it has mostly been a reading week for me. I only got one review posted all week and am playing catch up with writing reviews this weekend. I finished Dan Brown’s Origin last night. I know some people think Brown’s books are overrated and formulaic, but I must just like his formula because I always enjoy them and Origin was no exception. I’ll have my full review of Origin in a few days. Once I finished Origin, I moved on to Nice Try, Jane Sinner because I’m participating in a blog tour for that the first week of January and want to make sure it doesn’t slip through the cracks in the holiday mayhem. I also saved one winter-themed book to read over the holidays, Erin Hilderbrand’s Winter Solstice.
Anyway, I think that’s it for me. Have a great week, everyone, and Happy Holidays!

I’m not big on going to the movies, but I definitely want to see Pitch Perfect 3 over the holidays too. Those movies are just so funny, and I love Amy! Glad to hear you’re almost ready for the holidays. I still need to get my holiday baking done too. Have a great week, Suzanne! 🙂
I love the PItch Perfect movies so much. Never get tired of watching them.
It sounds like you’ve got everything under control with the holiday stuff. I plan on baking cookies too and my shopping is done since I did alot of it online this year.
I saw the Star Wars movie Friday night and it was pretty good! I am a fan of Erin Hilderbrand’s, enjoy your books and happy holidays.
Glad to hear that the new Star Wars movie is good. I can’t wait to see it!
Yes, this Christmas is a quieter, easier one for us, too. Lovely that your mother has stepped up and is cooking the Christmas Eve meal. We’re also hoping to get a chance to see the Star Wars movie this holiday – but it all depends on how things pan out regarding relatives… Have a lovely festive week:)
Thanks, you too!
I really loved Origin, too! His books are such a fun ride. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Immortalists, that’s one I’m really looking forward to! Have a great week!
Origin was so much fun to read. I’m already ready for another Robert Langdon adventure!
I would love to make it to see Pitch Perfect 3! They are such fun movies. Glad to hear you liked Origin! Hope you have a great week!
I love the Pitch Perfect movies so much. Thanks, you too!
Nice haul. Ooo, I plan to see Pitch Perfect 3 too. Love the vocals.
Me too. They really are amazing.
My daughter wants to see Pitch Perfect as well (she’s a super fan, knows every line of the movie). I don’t know when we will fit it in, so she will probably go with my niece. Hope you get to see both your films. I am eager to hear your thoughts on Jane Sinner, as I will be reading that one soon.
So far I’m enjoying Jane Sinner. I haven’t gotten too far in yet because busy, busy, busy, but I’m working on it, lol.
I think I’m almost done with Christmas prep too (crosses fingers). And star Wars- hope you get to see it soon. I saw it and had mixed feelings, but… it’s Star Wars, hope you enjoy!! I love seeing movies at holiday time.
Truthwitch and The Wife Between Us both look great.
Have a super week!
I’ve heard a few people say they had mixed feelings about the new Star Wars. I hope to see it in a couple of days so fingers crossed that I love it.
<i<Daughter of Smoke and Bone *.* I haven’t read Dan Brown in a while, but I quite enjoy his books – don’t care that they are overrated and formulaic provided that the story/plot catches my attention.
I hope you get to watch both films without being spoiled.
Happy reading & Wishes of a great week.

Thanks, I hope you have a great week too!
My home is decorated and I am mostly done all but one daughter and should knock that out this week. My tree is not up though. Ugh. Hope the week ahead is a good one for you!
Thanks, I hope you have a great week too!
Your week sounds like a busy one. We are just going to make salt dough cookies so we clean make some Christmas ornaments with the dogs law orints. ☺ Enjoy all those new books and happy reading.
Your Christmas ornament idea sounds like fun!
My mom has been baking cookies, but I don’t think they’re going to make it until Christmas. There are too many hungry people in this house right now. Have a great week!
Ha, I know that feeling. I’ll be making more batches of cookies later in the week because what I had already made has been wiped out.
Origin! I am looking forward to your review of that one Suzanne! I watched Star Wars and am BUSTING to know what you and think!
I hope to see Star Wars sometime in the next few days so we’ll have to compare notes afterwards. I’ve remained spoiler free so far, but I have heard a few people say they had mixed reactions to it.
My dad went with my uncle and two nephews to see the new Starwars movie. Us, girls, didn’t go to the cinema, as in we like Starwars, but do not love it. 🙂 I still have to buy a lot of presents, but today I’m going with my sister to the city. So much stuff to buy.
Have a great week!
Thanks, you too!
haha love that comic! Darn! LOL I’m glad to hear you don’t have much shopping left. I have all of my family finished, which is good, but I do have some friends I still need to do soon.

Hope you get everything finished up and that you have a great week!
My mom has volunteered to watch my daughter so my husband and I can go see the new Star Wars movie. Now to find time . . .We might be able to squeeze it in this coming weekend, but otherwise it will have to wait until New Year’s weekend. I’m trying to avoid the spoilers, but they are everywhere! I want to see Pitch Perfect 3 too. I hope you enjoy both movies!
You’ve got some great new books! I have Truthwitch on my TBR pile to read still (I’m ashamed to say I got it last Christmas and still haven’t read it!).
I hope you are having a great week, Suzanne!
Haha, I feel you on having books from last Christmas that I have yet to get to read. And I’m so shameless that I’ve asked for tons more this Christmas, lol.
