10. WHAT HAPPENED by Hillary Rodham Clinton
Hillary’s book was the only one of my favorite reads that I didn’t review on my blog. As most of my blog readers know, I’m a huge Hillary fan so I knew any review I wrote would be very biased. I’ll just say that as a Hillary fan, this book was everything I needed it to be.

Starfish is one I hope to read soon. I am going to try and read it in one day when it is free on Riveted. Maybe it will happen.
I thought it was a pretty quick read so I think it’s possible 🙂
“Daughter of Smoke and Bone” is one of my favourite books of 2017. After I am done with this trilogy, I`ll pick up “Strange The Dreamer”. Laini Taylor has such a beautiful writing style.

I’m glad to hear this because I just purchased a copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone 🙂
I haven’t read any of these besides THUG (which I liked)!!! I did just get The Rules of Magic though. I skipped this topic this week because I am having a hard time narrowing it down!!!
It really was hard to pick just 10. I read so many great books this year.
I still have to read so many of these! I actually have Starfish in my TBR pile. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Dear Martin and THUG I’m hoping to borrow from my library over winter break. Great list, Suzanne!
Thanks!
The Hate U Give made my list too! I’m adding Dear Martin to my TBR list.

Hope you enjoy it!
Wow Starfish sounds really good, tackling some tough topics. And Hillary’s book I do want to read.
Yeah, Starfish was really an emotional read for me because it took on so many tough issues.
I still need to read The Alice Network, I don’t know what I’m waiting for! At some point, I’d also like to read Hillary’s book.
I think you’ll really like The Alice Network.
I still need to read The Hate U Give – and Strange the Dreamer, though I do own both of them so soon! I LOVED A Darker Shade of Magic but I need to read the next two.

Oh, I can’t wait to see what you think of the 2nd and 3rd books in the ADSOM series. It’s one of my all time favorite series.
You have some really good one on your list. I would love to read Strange the Dreamer, I have the audio book of it. Just wish I did better with audio books, guess I will have to get the physical book. 🙂
I struggle with audio books too.
Yaaay, your post makes me so happy! You’re the first person I’ve seen with Starfish and Dear Martin on their list. They’re both on my list as well, along with ACOL and THUG. *high fives* Starfish just about broke me, though. I still can’t stop thinking about it!
I loved The Bear and the Nightingale, and I’m impatiently waiting for my hold on The Girl in the Tower to come in!
And I haven’t read What Happened yet, but I definitely need to. I’m also a huge Hillary fan.

Yay, we have great taste in books!
Oh, I hope you enjoy The Girl in the Tower. I actually loved it even more than the first book.
Woooh, I read and LOVED ‘The Girl In The Tower’ too! Such a great fantasy, I love how magical Arden’s world-building is! ‘The Hate U Give’ is a popular choice this year, such a powerful read!
Please check out my TTT list too!
The Girl in the Tower was such an amazing read. Katherine Arden is now an auto-buy author for me 🙂
A Conjuring of Light was on my list this week too!

Loved that one!
I’m so jealous because you have so many newer books on your list. I always find myself reading older books or the “it” books from one or two years ago because I’m always so behind, but I want to read them all! Great list!
I wish I was better about reading older books. Every time I get behind, those seem get shuffled down my pile.
I haven’t read Hillary’s book yet but I’ve been wanting to for ages – I absolutely love her and I think this book would be such a fascinating read. I did read Dear Martin and definitely loved that one oh so much, though! I didn’t read any of the others on your list, but I do own a few of them! I think Wonder Woman Warbringer was probably my favorite book of this year, though.
I’m really glad I read Hillary’s book. I don’t normally read nonfiction, but I just really wanted to hear from her about the 2016 election. I think it was part of my healing process. Plus, she’s just so eloquent and actually quite funny. It’s a great reading experience for a Hillary fan.
You have some fabulous books here – I want to get hold of Strange the Dreamer and The Rules of Magic. I haven’t yet gone through my list to select my favourites, yet:)). Have a lovely Christmas!
The Rules of Magic is such a lovely read. I just adore Alice Hoffman’s writing style.
The Hate U Give is one of the books I should have read this year but still haven’t. However, I haven’t heard a single soul not LOVING it, and I have no doubt that I should read it and enjoy as well. I love the spotlight it’s been getting, and all of the themes it touches upon interest me a lot. I shouldn’t postpone it anymore! IT IS GETTING DONE!
I would LOVE to read The Bear and the Nightingale soon. I am obsessed with Russia, and this one sounds right up my alley. I love its wintery feel and its mysterious vibe. I am really excited about it. I am dying to finish V.E. Schwab’s books and all of the series I’ve started and haven’t finished! Her writing style is of my favorites.

The Bear and the Nightingale and its sequel The Girl in the Tower are such amazing reads. I definitely recommend them, especially if you enjoy Russian folklore.
The Hate U Give, A Conjuring of Light, and Strange the Dreamer were all truly fantastic, I can’t agree more! I would still really like to read Mr. Dickens and his Carol, so hopefully I can this holiday season–I’m really glad to see it on your list! I have to check out some of the other books you have on here–great list!
Thanks!
I loved the Rules of Magic too. Great list of books 🙂
I’m reading A Conjuring of Light next. I’m so excited for it. I love that series. Strange the Dreamer is on my TBR list. I have to read Hillary Clinton’s book, too, but I’d also be biased if I reviewed it. 🙂
Yay, I hope you love A Conjuring of Light.
Great list! what an amazing year for you! I’m hoping to read Ms. Katherine Arden series! I keep seeing it everywhere! Great post, Suzanne! 💋 xoxo
That Katherine Arden series is just fantastic. It’s quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites and I’ve been recommending it to everyone. I hope you enjoy it 🙂
I really want to read most of the books on your list! Yay! Especially The Hate You Give. That one, pfff, I just need to read, no question about that. Keep hearing great things about it and your review is fantastic. Sometimes we need an eye-opener.
I read The Bear and The Nightingale earlier this year and it became my 2017 favorite 😀 I can’t wait to read The Girl in the Tower, I plan to read it in January! 🙂
I hope you love Girl in the Tower too. I actually loved it even more than the first book and am already anxious to get my hands on book 3.
oh my!! Love this list Suzanne! most of them I either read and LOVED [The Hate you Give], I’m reading soon [Dear Martin, next week! Can’t wait!] or are in my 2018 TBR: The Girl in the Tower, The Rules of Magic, Strange the Dreamer and What Happened! I’m number 61 in the library waiting list for What Happened! LOL
I hope you enjoy Dear Martin!
I’ve only read Dear Martin and I absolutely loved it, so glad it made your top ten of the year!
I, too, loved The Alice Network, A Conjuring of Light, and The Hate U Give! And I’ve got The Girl in the Tower to read as soon as I finish a few library books. Aren’t those covers gorgeous?! I haven’t heard of the Dickens book but it looks right up my alley.
I so loved The Hate U Give – it is probably my favorite book of the year. I also enjoyed The Alice Network! I am hoping to read Dear Martin soon!
Nice list! I need to read Starfish still!
I hope you enjoy it!
A Conjuring Of Light! So glad you loved this so much 🙂 I’m hoping to read The Hate U Give, Dear Martin and Strange the Dreamer soon.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book in the Strange the Dreamer series.
I think The Hate U Give will be showing up on everyone’s list this year. I know I loved it!
Right? I have seen it on so many lists. It’s getting so much well-deserved love.
I love these lists. I really want to read Dear Martin, The Rules of Magic and The Alice Network. I’m so glad you loved them! The Hate U Give is one of my favorites this year as well. I still need to put together my list.
