Weekly Recap #30: Week of 12/3 – 12/9

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I still can’t get over how quickly the holidays are approaching.  I’m running out of time to do all of the holiday preparations I still need to do and have a feeling that holiday cards might be the thing that I just cross off my list and skip this year.  I love sending and receiving cards, but it seems like it just gets more and more expensive to do it and that I receive fewer and fewer cards from my friends and family each year as others have opted to do more of an online newsletter to sum up their year.  I feel like the cards are just a dying tradition.  Or maybe I’m just trying to justify in my own mind not sending them.

I’m heading out today to see a musical with my mom and sister, so I’m looking forward to that.  We’re going to see The Sound of Music as part of the Broadway in Richmond series.  Every year 4 or 5 Broadway shows come to our capital city so it’s a great way to see some shows without the expense of going all the way to NYC.  My mom got me this ticket as a birthday gift back in October and I had actually forgotten all about it until she called me yesterday to finalize our plans.  Oops!

We’re also doing a big holiday event at my office this week that I am completely unprepared for.  An ambitious party planner has us doing a holiday cookie exchange, an ugly sweater contest, and a White Elephant Christmas all at the same time on the same day.  Sometime between now and Tuesday I have to bake 4 dozen cookies, find an ugly sweater, and come up with a gift for the White Elephant party.  Needless to say, I probably won’t be reading or blogging much in the next couple of days.  After that though, I plan to have my nose buried in a book for the rest of the week!

Anyway, I think that’s it for me.   Have a great week, everyone!

Time loves to fly. Just a few months ago, we were in January and now it already is December! And, I can’t believe Christmas is in two weeks (and I have yet to decorate my Christmas tree).

Hope you enjoy your news books – I’ve been wanting to buy Fear the Drowning Deep for a long time now.

Happy readings & Wishes of a great week. 🙂

I feel the same way about cards, they just seem to be petering out over time. It is too bad. And enjoy The Sound of Music- sounds awesome to see that on stage!

That sounds like a very crazy party- maybe a little TOO much going on?

Hope you like Fear the Drowning Deep. I did and it’s very atmospheric, with the remote island setting.

Thankfully the party ended up being a lot of fun even though there was definitely too much going on at once.

Haha, your praise is actually the main reason I picked up Fear the Drowning Deep 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful time with your mom and sister at The Sound of Music, it sounds like a wonderful thing to see on stage. We are almost ready for the holiday’s, just a few more things for the kids. And pick up some bones and toys for the fur-babies too. enjoy the rest your weekend and the week ahead too.

Haha, I’m the opposite when it comes to Christmas cards – I start planning ours really early, and even though it’s just my husband and me, I still include a vacation picture! I love getting Christmas cards in the mail, too. That sounds like a lot of holiday events at your office! We don’t really do anything, probably because I’m the only one that celebrates Christmas!

I just finished Origin and really liked it, hope you enjoy it, too!

I know what you mean, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I skipped the holiday cards myself this year, I like to do the family photo kind but it just didn’t happen this time around, hopefully next year. Have fun with the office stuff, we’re doing a secret Santa and ugly sweater day too. I haven’t found an ugly sweater yet myself lol. We also did Toys 4 Tots and that was last week so one more thing crossed off the list.
Have fun with The Sound of Music and happy reading!

I never did find an ugly sweater. The winner of our contest was a young lady who actually designed and sewed the sweater she wore. It was fantastic, lol.

Oh, I love seeing Broadway shows where I live (Cincinnati). Definitely easier than having to travel to New York City LOL I hope you have fun at the holiday party, even if it IS quite ambitious. I have one tomorrow and another on Tuesday (I work at two different locations, so they each have their own) and it should be fun. It’s really just a pot luck at both!

Our office party ended up being a lot of fun after all, so that was a huge relief. I think our planner would have been crushed if it had flopped.

I literally just wrote about 20 Christmas cards! I love doing Christmas cards but you’re right, it seems like less and less people are doing them. Hopefully you get many this year! 😉 I still need to read Renegades. I haven’t seen many reviews of it, surprisingly! I’m sure it’s excellent. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fabulous week, Suzanne. =)

    Check out my STS post!

Sadly, Renegades was a bit of a disappointment for me. I’m still working on my review but hope to have it up later this week. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the book more than I did though.

Nice haul! I see many books I like here! I’m curious how you’ll like City of Bones 🙂 I almost requested when the Light left Us but I haven’t been in the mood for Sci_fi lately so I didn’t. So, looking forward to that review too 🙂 I did request More Than We Can Tell so crossing my fingers! and I did get the Beauty that remains so hopefully we can chat about it! 🙂 Yes the holidays are approaching super fast! I agree! I was very close to skip my cards to this year but somehow I manage to order them so now I have to send them 🙂 We have an ugly sweater contest too and the office 🙂 Hope you enjoyed the musical with your sis and mom

I look forward to your review of The Wife Between Us! I’ve had an ARC lying around that I’ve been wanting to pick up, but I’ve been a little skeptical to do so for some reason.
I’m also fairly floored by how quickly the holidays have sneaked up on us. I feel like we’ve all been too busy to fully enjoy them also! And wow! That is a lot to do for an office holiday event–here’s to you getting everything done in a calm and enjoyable manner! 🙂 Have a great week!

I feel so unprepared for Christmas – I need more days in the month! That party planner does sound very ambitious – I can’t believe they’re jamming all three of those events in one day. Good luck on getting everything together! The Beauty that Remains looks fantastic – I can’t wait to read you review for it. Have a great week, Suzanne!

Ooo… The Sound of Music – I’ve seen the film and learnt all the songs when I was a girl – but my favourite was when I got to see the show. I hope you have a wonderful time! The Immortalists looks fabulous – have a lovely reading week:)
