Weekly Recap #140: Week of 1/26 – 2/1
It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
Work, followed by being too tired from work, pretty much sums up my week. Our first deadline of the year was 1/31 and one of my team members called out because her daughter tested positive for the flu. That couldn’t be helped of course, but it made for a very hectic three days for the rest of us. We made it through the deadline, I was in couch potato mode watching the latest seasons of Grace & Frankie and Fuller House from Friday night until this morning and now I guess I’m ready to get up and do it all over again this coming week, lol.
The Super Bowl is tonight but I don’t think I’m going to watch it. I like football well enough but don’t have much interest in either of the teams that are playing this year. I’m behind in both writing reviews and blog hopping, so getting caught up on those is my plan for Super Bowl Sunday.
I’m still making decent progress on my ARCs in spite of being busy and tired. I did finish reading all of my January ARCs and just need to write a couple of reviews to wrap those up. I also started on my February ones, although two approvals I had given up on came through this week so I now have 13 to read this month. I’m only halfway through my second one so I probably won’t be doing much more backlist reading after I finish listening to the audiobook of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. I’m excited for my February reads though, especially for Meg Gardiner’s The Dark Corners of the Night (UNSUB #3), Simone St. James’ The Sun Down Motel, and Sandhya Menon’s Of Curses and Kisses.
Oh well, I think that’s pretty much it for me. Have a great week, everyone!

STACKING THE SHELVES

TOTALLY RANDOM
I suspect lots of book bloggers will be working on blog stuff rather than watching the Super Bowl!😉
Haha, you are probably right!
I hope this week at work is not so stressful.
Enjoy your February ARCs. 🙂
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
Thanks, I hope so too. 🙂
My husband isn’t in any Super Bowl pools this year, so I don’t think we’ll be watching too much of the game, either!
Yeah, we aren’t doing any pools and aren’t rooting for anyone. We may have it on the background to watch the commercials and halftime show but that’s about it.
I have never watched the super bowl, as it is almost always the weekend before my daughter’s birthday, and we do stuff for her instead. I really am not a big sports fan, so, no big loss for me. I am reading Good Girl’s Guide right now. I think it’s great. Love the way everything is unfolding, and I love the mixed format. Hope you enjoy it too. Your STS looks like mine. Can’t wait to dig into all four of those books.
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying Good Girl’s Guide. I’m hoping to start that one in a few days.
I hope this week is much less hectic. I haven’t watched the Super Bowl in years. I used to go to a friend’s great party but he moved to St. Thomas. I have been trying harder to take less ARCS. No matter how much I read, there are more books I want to read.
Have a lovely week and enjoy your new reads!

Right? Same here. So many books, so little time, lol.
Whew – sounds like one hectic week, and with a person down too! I hope this week is a little less stressful. My family will watch the Superbowl, but I’ll be mostly reading or blogging, I’m sure. I’m excited for the half time show though. I have Dark Corners of the Night to read soon too and I can’t wait – love this series.

I really love the UNSUB series too. I’m having to really restrain myself to keep from skipping over my early February ARCs and jumping right to The Dark Corners of the Night.
Well Suzanne I feel you on the being tired! Let’s hope that next week will be easier!!!
I really hope so, for both of us. 🙂
Sounds like a stressful work week. Hopefully this week will be better and you’ll be fully staffed again. I’m not particularly invested in either team playing tonight but I’ll still tune in for the game (until I go to bed). Maybe I’ll set up my ipad and keyboard and lap desk and do some blog hopping/commenting while I watch. 🙂
We ended up having the game on in the background while we did other things. I mostly just watched the commercials and the halftime show, lol.
The “work and then too tired from work” comment really hit home for me – I feel ya! Work is just blah at this time of year! I don’t know when your workplace calms down but for me, it’s the beginning of April. *sigh*
Chasing Lucky sounds awesome! I love the bad boy/former best friend love interest thing. 🙂
We won’t slow down until after April 15th, so tired will be a way of life for both of us for a while longer, haha.
I almost forgot today was SuperBowl Sunday! I used to watch football all the time but lately I haven’t been as much. We’ll probably have it on in the background. And wow you do sound busy- hope the load lightens soon. We just had our taxes done and the preparer said they’ve been crazy busy, especially since they lost a worker and all had to pick up the slack. Busy time of year. 🙂
Hope you have a nice week!
Yeah, this is never my favorite time of year because of work. I’ll be very happy for April 15th to come and go, lol.
I can totally related to the stressful week! I hope this week is better for you. I have an ARC of The Other People that I still need to get to and snagged a copy of Chasing Lucy when it was available as Read Now on Netgalley. A Good Girls Guide to Murder seems interesting. I’m always hesitant about YA Thrillers because they are hit and miss for me.
Oh and I definitely worked on blog stuff instead of watching the Superbowl!
Have a great week.
YA thrillers are hit and miss for me as well. I’ve heard good things about A Good Girls Guide though so fingers crossed it works out for me.
Being a Brit, Superbowl isn’t a thing for us – and I don’t do soccer, either… Himself is cricket-mad and loved Formula One racing, while I am glued to Wimbledon fortnight. I hope you manage to catch up with the blogging and work calms down, Suzanne. I am also falling behind with reviews…
Hopefully we’ll both find some time to get caught up. 🙂
I am happy you could meet the deadline but it doesn’t sound tiring especially with one less person on your team. Yay for getting approved for Chasing Lucky! I don’t watch the superbowl as I have no interest in the game but I did watch JLO and Shakira’s performance on youtube afterward. Loved it, Shakira always blows my mind.
That halftime show was wild!
I can relate to being even busier at work because of staffing 😉 What do you do, Suzanne, and why is this time of year so busy for you?
I love watching Grace & Frankie too and it’s what’s keeping me sane at the moment! Ha!Ha!Ha! Your TBR ARC pile seems to be adding to your stress, I hope everything calms down and you get enough time to get through some titles this month. X
I work for an accounting firm so we are super busy from now until the April 15th deadline to file income taxes.
