Weekly Recap #84: Week of 12/23 – 12/29

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I hope that everyone who celebrates Christmas had a wonderful holiday this week.  Mine was very nice, low-key like I wanted it to be, but I think everyone still enjoyed it.  Instead of trying to go see everyone on Christmas Day, we spread it out over a few days so that we can spend more time with each family member we’re visiting. So we saw my Dad and step-mom on the 23rd, my in-laws on the 24th, had the 25th for ourselves, and then went to my mother’s on the 26th.  I slept 10 hours the following day, but woke up feeling refreshed and have been pretty productive since then, especially on the blog.

I only posted one review this past week since I figured it would be a light traffic week, but also because I hadn’t written anymore. I finally got my butt in gear though and wrote all of my backlogged reviews so look for those next week.  I’ll have reviews for Muse of Nightmares, Vengeful, Throne of Glass, An Anonymous Girl, and possibly The Girl King going up this week. I also finally met my goal for the 2018 Discussion Challenge this week too so that was exciting, especially since it was the only challenge goal I hadn’t met yet.

As you can see from my list below, Christmas was very good to me in terms of books. Between actual gifts I received, an unexpected approval from Netgalley, and the great ebook deals on Amazon, I seriously stacked my shelves. Now I just need to stop watching Hallmark Holiday movies and get busy reading!

Oh well, I think that’s it for me.  Happy New Year, everyone!

You did have a great week. I haven’t been as productive. I wanted to do more but haven’t and really only read one book in the weeks time. I am almost done with another but that will be this week reading it seems. What can I do? I have to get working on some review posts, I am way behind on those. Have a wonderful New Year!

Your Christmas sounds lovely! We spread out all the families now, too. We literally used to try to see everyone on Christmas Day, but it’s too much running around. Enjoy your new reads!

It’s kind of fun to spread the visits out. That’s how it was when I was a kid, and my family all lived near us in Brooklyn. It was like a continuous celebration. I just read Goodbye, Perfect the other day. I really enjoyed it. I hope you do too.

Right? And my son loves spreading out the celebration too, so it’s win-win for everyone. Glad to hear you enjoyed Goodbye, Perfect. I wasn’t expecting to get approved for it, so it was a nice surprise.

I’m happy you had such a good week and you met your goals! I’ll look forward to those reviews this week as some of those are ones I like or want to read. So many pretty books! I hope you enjoy them all with 2019 being the best year ahead. Anne – Books of My Heart

I’m happy to hear your holiday was what you were hoping for! I’ve got my fingers crossed for a low key New Years because our Christmas was 4 days of absolute craziness! 🙂 Congrats on getting your back logged reviews written!

I don’t know how you can celebrate in so many days! I try to avoid it at all costs and gather all my beloved one on Christmas Eve LOL Now yes I see you got very interesting books this week!

Lol, it’s the only way we can have enough time with all of the family members we like to celebrate with.
Thanks, I hope they’ll all be excellent reads. 🙂

I’m all for a low-key Christmas. Nice idea to spread out the visiting like that. Much less hectic (and stressful). Every time I see The Girl King I call it The King Girl. No idea why, but I can’t seem to stop it. Ha. Hooray for so many lovely new books!

Low key holidays are sometimes the best! I’ve been seeing An Anonymous Girl around and I’m really curious about that one, so looking forward to seeing what you thought. Also yay for Fire and Blood!

    Happy New Year!!

I just finished Anonymous Girl and thought it was really good. And yes, I’m so looking forward to reading more about the Targaryens!

I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on An Anonymous Girl and Wartime Sisters. I’ve read the former and have the latter coming up. Loved Loigman’s last book. Happy you had a good Christmas. Low key is the best!
