Weekly Recap #94: Week of 3/3 – 3/9
It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
Work really kicked my butt this week so I didn’t get nearly as much reading or blogging done in the evenings as I usually like to. Instead, I was in full Netflix mode most nights. I haven’t read the book yet, but I watched the movie Dumplin’ and thought that was pretty good. I’ve had Dolly Parton songs in my head ever since I watched it too, which I won’t complain about. I’m not typically much of a country music fan but I’ve always loved Dolly. I also decided to try an episode of Riverdale to see if that series would be of interest. Needless to say, I fell down the Riverdale rabbit hole and I’m now almost finished with season 1.
I was also unfortunately too tired to get caught up on my reviews. I had hoped to get my review up for Daisy Jones & the Six this past Friday but instead, it will be posting tomorrow. I’m excited to share my thoughts on Daisy Jones because it’s just such a great read. As far as my reading, I did manage to finish Bloodleaf, which releases this week and I’ve just started Sky Without Stars, which is a Les Miserables retelling. So far I’m really loving it.
The actual highlight of my week was getting my order of Girl Scout Cookies. I always order way too many with the idea that they’ll last us all year, but if the tradition continues, they’ll all be gone in about three weeks, lol.
Anyway, I think that’s about it for me. Have a great week, everyone!

TOTALLY RANDOM
The perfect floorplan for a bookworm.
I saw your post about Sky without Stars on IG Suzanne! Now I hope you’ll love Wicked saints (I did) and I also got Call it what you want (busy reading it!!!). Let’s hope you’ll be less tired next week but if not you are now hooked on Riverdale so you should manage LOL
I’m really excited for Wicked Saints and Call It What You Want!
As a former GS troop leader, school recruiter, camp program director, and service unit director, I love seeing people’s enthusiasm for GS cookies. Because my moms sold so many boxes of cookies, my troop never had to pay out of pocket for any supplies, patches, badges, or programs. <3 I read both Dumplin books and thought they did a fantastic job with the film. I shed some tears there towards the end, and it left me feeling good.
I agree about Dumplin’. Definitely a feel good movie. 🙂
lol… LOVE the floorplan for a bookworm’s house. We are about to start on a round of re-organising and decorating and Himself thinks it’s a FINE idea:)). I love the look of Circe – I am planning to get around to that book sometime this year.
I keep having to push back Circe because of ARCs but I’m determined to read it this Spring.
I can’t wait to read your review of Daisy Jones! I’ll be reading Wicked Saints soon too😁
Hope we both enjoy Wicked Saints!
Have you read Dumplin’? I have heard mix reviews, maybe movie might be enough…
I haven’t read it yet but the movie was really cute.
I’m happy you liked Daisy, I’ve been curious about that one. I think I’ll do audio for that. I just finished Sky WIthout Stars and I liked it, but I had hoped that the Cosette and Marius characters would have been more interesting.
I’m really liking Sky Without Stars a lot so far. I still have a long way to go though so we’ll see how I feel by the end, lol.
Haha, that floorplan looks good to me! I didn’t get any Girl Scout cookies this year. One of the guys at work was selling for his daughter, but he didn’t ask me if I wanted any! I think because I’m so new at the office. I was disappointed!
Awww, that’s a bummer about the cookies. We almost didn’t get any either because the parent at work who usually sells them said her daughter is no longer doing Scouts. Thankfully though someone else’s niece was selling, so she hooked us up.
We bought some cookie when they were out selling by a store. I was surprised and happy they had some gluten-free cookies and they were pretty good. Next year maybe I will just donate to the troop as we need to cut back on processed food and sugar. But realistically we will always eat some. I hope this is a better reading week for you!
That’s great that they now have gluten free cookies. I went for my usuals and didn’t even notice those. Thanks, I hope you have a great week too!
I kinda think in some ways the first season of Riverdale was the best? Glad you’re enjoying it- I’m a little behind on the current season and need to catch up.
Daisy Jones and Circe both look fabulous. and Girl Scout cookies! I could probably eat a whole box of Thin Mints in a day if I let myself. 🙂
Mmmm, Thin Mints are my favorites. 🙂
I loved The Wicker King. I really need to own a copy. Glad to hear you liked Daisy Jones; I really want to read that one.

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed The Wicker King. The ebook was on sale and I couldn’t resist it after reading so many good reviews.
I just recently learned that Sky Without Stars is a Les Miserables retelling, and now I’m so excited to read it!! Glad you enjoyed your Netflix this week. 🙂
Yeah, it’s basically Les Mis set in space. I’m about 40% in and really enjoying it so far.
I’m looking forward to your reviews of each of these, but especially Daisy!
Thanks!
I’m starting Daisy Jones & The Six today – just as soon as I can carve out some reading time. I got declined for Call It What You Want *sad face* but I’m looking forward to it when it releases. Love your random. 🙂 Looks pretty accurate to me!
Yay, I hope you love Daisy Jones!
Sorry work was so tough! But glad you got some good TV time in 😀 sometimes its nice to just crash and binge TV 😀 And yay for girl scout cookies!! I have already eaten two boxes by myself haha
Haha, I’m glad I’m not the only one who has been devouring the Girl Scout cookies!
I’ve been saying I would try Riverdale after everything I’ve heard about it, but I just haven’t been able to focus on shows lately. I feel you on life/lack of energy getting in the way of blogging and writing reviews! It happens. Hopefully you’ll get all caught up soon. And yay Girl Scout cookies!
I’m really enjoying Riverdale so far. It’s definitely not the Archie that I grew up with, lol.
Looking forward to reading your review of Bloodleaf. Thanks for sharing your haul with us. There are some books in it, that look quite interesting. My TBR is in danger *smile*
Best wishes
Vi
Haha, I think all of our TBRs are constantly in danger of becoming mountains. 🙂
*sheepish wave* Hi! Remember me? 🙂
Lovely to have a little catch up from reading your post. Cookies sound aweosme right about now!
I’ve kept meaning to ask if you have managed to read any Annette Marie yet? You had mentioned on my blog that you’d bought the first in the Guild Codex series so was just curious!
Hey Di! I haven’t started Annette Marie yet but she’s on my list of authors to try this year. I’m hoping to get to her once I get through my April ARCs.
I haven’t yet seen Dumplin’ but I keep hearing good things about it. I have gotten back into Riverdale after taking a little break from it. I’m about half way through season 2 right now. It’s definitely not the Betty, Veronica, Archie and Jughead I grew up with! I hope you enjoy Sky Without Stars. I have my eye on that one. I hope you have a great weekend!
Yeah, Riverdale definitely does not have the Archie and the gang I grew up with, lol. It’s a good show though.
I had no idea they were gluten-free. We bought 2 boxes as my hubby and I are trying to lose weight. They keep getting smaller (the cookies not us)
I thought the cookies seemed smaller. Glad it’s not just me who thought that.
