Top 10 Bookish Settings I’d Love to Visit

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR List, which gives us all a chance to share what we’re planning to read for the next few months.

This week’s topic really gave me a major case of nostalgia because as soon as I started thinking about bookish settings I’d love to visit, mainly what came to mind were settings from my favorite childhood books.  There are a few more recent favorites on my list, but by and large, my inner child won out.

I’d love to visit and take classes at Hogwarts, and I’d love to walk through a wardrobe and find myself in the magical snowy world of Narnia.  Or maybe spend a day in the Hundred Acre Woods playing Pooh Sticks with Winnie the Pooh, flying around with Peter Pan in Neverland, or visiting Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and sampling some of his delectable chocolaty treats?

And while I can’t say I’d ever want to live in Middle Earth, Red London, Themyscira, or the Courts of Prythian, how wonderful would it be to just visit them and see them up close and personal?

Finally, I’d love to visit one of those magical traveling carnivals like the ones featured in Caraval and The Night Circus.  I selected the one from The Night Circus because I loved that it was set in Victorian London, but either would be truly magical.

This was such a hard list to make, since there are so many fabulous fictional places out there. We have some in common (Narnia, I had Velaris from ACOTAR), but Neverland, The Shire, and The Hundred Acre Wood made my preliminary list. Wonka hadn’t even crossed my mind, though I was jealous of the kids who got to go there.

Even though I never really got into the Harry Potter Series (I know, I know, I’m a disgrace as a bookworm lol), I would love to experience Hogworts! Narnia would also be amazing. When I was little and in love with those books & the movie, I used to hope that my closet would lead to Narina one day. Great list, Suzanne!

Haha, I was the same way with Narnia when I was a kid. Always so disappointed that my closet was just a closet and nothing more.

What a great list!! I would have picked a lot of these places, too. Narnia would have been at the top, I think! And The Night Circus sounds beyond gorgeous.

I’d really love to spend the day hanging with Pooh, Eeyore and Roo. Piglet too although I suspect he would get on my nerves a lot. My dad always knew Piglet was my least favorite (although I still liked him) and would call me Piglet growing up. Great list!

This list is the BEST. You’ve hit all the high notes. Hogwarts – yes, yes, yes. That would be my number one as well. And Narnia and Red London and Middle-earth (especially The Shire). I’m going to start packing right now…

I love all these picks, especially Narnia (would love to vacation there) and Middle earth. The Hundred Acre Wood would be awesome, and Neverland. I think my favorite of your picks though is WW’s Chocolate Factory. I LOVED that movie as a kid!

    Ummm! YESSS!

Hogwarts, Narnia, Willy Wonkas!!! Definitely loving these amazing nostalgic memories. And Red London – TAKE ME WITH YOU!!! 🙂

Also dying to go to Prythian so let’s make a ladies trip of it. 🙂

I really need to read Night Circus!

    Amazing list Suzanne!

Ha, understandable. I’d want to visit but would only try treats with permission from Mr. Wonka. I’m not interested in becoming a giant blueberry, lol.

Oh yes! Some brilliant destinations here:). I particularly love the idea of visiting the Shire and Hundred Acre Wood – you’re the first person I’ve seen make that suggestion and as soon as I saw it – I thought – OF COURSE!!
