Top Ten Tuesday – Some of My Recent Favorite Books Set in NYC
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Books Set In X (Pick a setting and share books that are all set there. This could be a specific continent or country, a state, in outer space, underwater, on a ship or boat, at the beach, etc.). I decided to go with my favorite city in the world, New York City, and since I’ve probably done a similar topic in the past, I decided to focus on more recent favorites.
Ten of My Recent Favorite Books Set in NYC
1. BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CHRISTMAS by Mary Kay Andrews
2. THE SEVEN YEAR SLIP by Ashley Poston
3. THE SPECTACULAR by Fiona Davis
4. ONE LAST STOP by Casey McQuiston
6. MADE IN MANHATTAN by Lauren Layne
7. THE AMERICAN ROOMMATE EXPERIMENT by Elena Armas
8. EMMA OF 83RD STREET by Audrey Bellezza & Emily Harding
9. A WINTER IN NEW YORK by Josie Silver
10. IN A NEW YORK MINUTE by Kate Spencer

I enjoyed In a New York Minute. Another NY based book I’d recommend is The Break Up Clause by Niamh Hargan.
I’ll have to keep that one in mind. Thanks for the rec. 🙂
I love NYC as a setting, I wish I read more books set there. Great list, and yay, I’ve read one of these! (The Seven Year Slip)
That’s one of my favorite reads from this year. 🙂
I love an NYC setting! I love how Fiona Davis always picks an iconic building, and Radio City Music Hall was a great one!
Same here and I could have easily done a list of just her books alone.
New York is such a popular setting for books!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Yes it is. 🙂
New York is such a popular setting!
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Yes it is. 🙂
I love books set in the Big Apple. There’s just something about the city. Atmospheric. Stay Awake looks excellent.
I agree. 🙂
I am rather fond of New York City
Me too. I love to go there at least once every couple of years. 🙂
New York is one of my favorite settings, always fun
Yes it is. So iconic too. 🙂
SO many books are set in NYC! It’s not surprising since the city is so big and diverse and complex and interesting. I’ve been there once and that was enough for me, honestly. I’m not a city lover (although I don’t mind visiting them in books)!
Happy TTT!

I’m a huge Broadway fan so that’s something that keeps me coming back there year after year.
I only read One Last Stop from your list.

Loved that one!
I love books set in NYC and have written about my favorites a few months back. Today I opted to write about books set in Spain. Happy reading. My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/top-10-books-set-in-spain-on-my-tbr/
I’d love to visit Spain some day, either in books or in person. 🙂
So many books I’ve read seem set in NYC or London. I am actively trying to find/read books set in other places.

I hope you find some good ones. 🙂
I feel like I read so many books set in NY/NYC. I was born and spent my first 14 years there, so it’s fun to recognize places. I read six of those books, and they were all big hits. I consider LL the queen of Manhattan. I feel like just about all her books are set there.
Yes, every one of LL’s I’ve read so far has been set there. 🙂
So many great books are set in NYC. Some great choices here, Suzanne.
Thanks!
I loved The Seven Year Slip, One Last Stop and The American Roommate Experiment! Didn’t realise they all took place in NYC, that’s cool, definitely hope to visit there some day.
Those were all such great reads for me too. 🙂
I confess that this week I was so under the water after a shocking news at work that I had no energy to participate. But you have amazing choices here!
