Please Note:  Most of the books I review will be books that I have purchased myself or have checked out of the local library. I am, however, open to receiving requests for reviews if certain criteria are met:

For Authors and Publishers:

Thanks so much for taking the time to look over my review policy.  If after reading it, you are still interested in requesting a review, you can contact me via email at suzanne.p.wiseman@gmail.com.

Important FTC disclosure: I do not review books for compensation of any kind and will make no exceptions to this policy.

Review formats I will accept:

ARCs
E-Galleys
Finished Copies

Note:  I accept galleys that are viewable on Kindle and I do have a NetGalley account.

Genres I enjoy reading and reviewing:
My tastes are pretty eclectic, although Contemporary and Historical Fiction are my primary areas of interest.  I also enjoy some Young Adult fiction as well as the occasional Sci/Fi or Fantasy novel, although I’m extremely picky about what titles I’ll read and what I won’t.

Genres I do not enjoy reading and therefore won’t review:

Horror is about the only genre I don’t usually enjoy reading. I also do not generally read Nonfiction.

What you can expect if I read your book:

I don’t profess to be a professional literary critic, but I can promise that all of my reviews will be my honest opinion, whether I purchased the book myself or am reviewing one I have received for free from a publisher or author.  My reviews will include all relevant publication information, a synopsis from either the publisher or from a site such as Goodreads, my review of what I liked and/or didn’t like about the book and what kind of reader I would consider recommending the book to. Length and format of reviews will depend on how much time I have to write and how much I have to say about the book.

I use a rating system similar to Goodreads except that I also use half-stars.  If I rate a book a 3 or above, it means I liked it. Please be aware that I am very stingy with 5 star ratings — it really has to be a life-changing book to get 5 stars out of me.

Because my reviews are my honest opinion, this means there is the possibility that the book you send me could receive a negative review.  I will keep my negative reviews respectful and my criticism constructive.  I don’t want any author to feel attacked.  If a potential negative review is not something that you’re comfortable with, I would say that it’s probably best not to request a review from me.  By sending me a review request, you are acknowledging that you understand this possibility of receiving a negative review and that you will not attack me because I gave you my honest opinion of your book.

I post my reviews here on my blog, on Goodreads. and on social media sites like twitter and facebook.  If you would like for me to post a review anywhere else, please let me know at the time of your request.

My Turnaround Time for Reviews

Before sending me a review request, please understand that by accepting or receiving a book, I do not guarantee that I will be able to read and review it immediately.  Reading is my hobby. I do it to relax in my free time and do not wish for it to become a burden because of the pressure of reviewing deadlines.   I work full-time and I also have an 8-year old son who I spend most of my non-working hours with.  In fact, some of the reviews posted on my blog will also be children’s books that he and I have read together.

If you have a specific time frame in mind, please include that in your initial request so that I can let you know if your deadline is even feasible for me.  I will do my best to read and review your book in a timely manner, especially if it’s an ARC.  Books I have purchased and requested on my own will receive my first priority.  Books I have accepted for review will be my second priority.

One Final Note:

I do reserve the right to NOT review a book that I have received if I don’t feel comfortable doing so for any reason, whether it’s lack of time or lack of anything to say about the book.

Thanks so much for considering me to review your book.
