Top Ten Tuesday – Top 10 Books People Keep Telling Me to Read…But I Still Haven’t (Yet!)
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is a FREEBIE, so I thought it would be fun to share some books that everyone keeps telling me to read because they know I’d love them, but somehow I just haven’t quite gotten myself to read them yet. I swear that I will get to them all eventually because these books are all recommended by trusted blogger friends, but it’s just taking me longer than I thought it would to actually get around to them. Some of them I really have no excuse though because I’ve even read other books by the authors and loved them, Laini Taylor and V.E. Schwab, for example, so I don’t even know what I’m waiting for.
So many books, so little time!

The Raven Boys <3 . Rebel of the Sands was a good read when i read it but I haven't been interested at all to continue the series.
And I also still have to get to Vicious. I hear amazing things about Red Winter though.
Oh, I’m glad to hear you loved The Raven Boys. I’m really hoping to get to that one this year as part of my backlist challenge. Vicious too.
Ove is the only one on your list that I’ve read, but it is well worth reading, I think.

I’ve had 5 or 6 people tell me it’s amazing. I’m hoping to read it this summer as part of my backlist challenge.
I loved In a Dark, Dark Wood (on audio) and Alex Approximately so yes you should get to then 🙂 A Man Called Ove is one I have been told I need to read too. Greta list!
You are one of my trusted bloggers so I will definitely make a point to get to those two books soon 🙂
I have only read three of these. And they were all just okay reads for me. There are s couple I would like to read. My husband loves the throne of glass books. I found the first one okay. I liked it well enough but will need to reread to finish the series.
I keep hearing great things about Throne of Glass but ended up reading her A Court of Thorns and Roses series first instead. I did enjoy that though so I’m sure I’ll go back eventually and read this series too.
Oh gosh, I have so many books I need to actually read still – and some I even own, like Vicious! LOL Daughter of Smoke and Bone is fantastic though, and I really love The Raven Boys too, so hopefully they will be winners for you. 🙂

I’m really hoping to get to Vicious, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and The Raven Boys this summer as part of the backlist challenge.
I still haven’t read Vicious either, so you’re not alone!
I’m glad I’m not alone. I’m hoping to get to it soon though since I’ve loved every other Schwab book I’ve read.
I haven’t read any of these yet either, but most of them are on my TBR!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!
Thanks for stopping by!
hahah I could just borrow your list and post the same topic! I would love to hear what you think of Raven Boys! I have tried it twice and can’t get through it! Same with Throne of glass! But only tried once so I’m giving it another try soon 🙂
I’ve been a little hesitant to start The Raven Boys mainly because I read and wasn’t a big fans of All the Crooked Saints by the same author. People keep telling me The Raven Boys is much better though so we’ll see how it goes, lol.
This is like my life’s constant problem, I get told to read certain book, put it on my TBR and then promptly forget about it! Throne of Glass, The Raven Boys and Rebel of The Sands are all really good, but I’ve yet to read Vicious.
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2018/04/17/top-ten-tuesday-155/
Same here. It’s like my TBR is this black hole that once a book title goes in, it never comes back out, lol.
Red Winter <3 Haha, I may be one of those people telling you to read it, but it really is so good and one of my all-time favorites so I do hope you'll enjoy it when you decide to pick it up 🙂 Rebel of the Sands and Letters to the Lost are still on my TBR as well. So is Vicious, but I'm hoping to get to that one really soon 😉
Haha! Yes, you are one of those trusted blogger friends that has recommend Red Winter. I did finally buy the book too, so I’m hoping to read it this summer at the absolute latest 🙂
Definitely The Raven Boys! I adored that series. Blue was a phenomenal character, and I loved the lore surrounding the story. Everyone is so complex, and the mystery was challenging!
I still need to read the other books on your list!
Do You Dog-ear?
I’m really hoping to get to The Raven Boys by this summer. I need to get through some ARCs first but that’s a book that at least a dozen of my blogger friends have highly recommended so it’s a must read for me.
I really liked Daughter of Smoke and Bone 🙂
I loved her Strange the Dreamer book so I’m excited to go back and read this series too.
Yeah.. everyone in my life was telling me I neeeed to read the Raven Boys series.. so I forced myself through it, and ended up really disliking it. I also was pretty ‘meh’ about Rebel of the Sands XD But I hope you’ve read all of Leigh Bardugo’s books, and if not, you should 🙂
Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
I’ve read almost all of Leigh’s. I still need to read the last book in the Grishaverse series and then The Language of Thorns. So far I’ve loved everything of hers that I’ve read. She is amazing!
If only we all had the time to read all the books! I’ve read Letters to the Lost and Alex, Approximately and both were wonderful.
I’m so glad to hear that. I’ve really enjoyed the other books I’ve read by those authors so I am definitely excited to finally get to Letters to the Lost and Alex, Approximately.
I’ve heard lots of great things about In A Dark, Dark Wood but I haven’t read it yet either! I can vouch for Ove, which I adored – and so did my entire book club. Best of luck on checking these out soon; I know how hard it is to make time for the tons of books on your TBR!

That’s good to know about Ove. I haven’t come across a single person yet who hasn’t loved it. I don’t even know what I’m waiting for, lol.
Yep, I also have books I keep saying I’m going to read—and I really do plan to!—but it’s taking me forever lol. Some of these are on my tbr! I do want to read Raven Boys cuz of so many reviews I’ve seen. I definitely want to read Red Winter cuz I love Annette Marie’s other books. And I’ve recently decided I want to read Rebel of the Sands. Hopefully we’ll both love all these books!
Right? I really have no idea why I’m so slow to get to these when I’m so sure I’ll love them all, lol.
I’ve had Daughter of Smoke and Bone on my shelf for years but I still haven’t read it yet 🙈 And I’ve been wanting to read Vicious for ages too, but still haven’t gotten around to that one either.
I’m pretty determined to get both of those read this year. We’ll see how it goes, lol.
I’ve only read three of these! I’m a fan of the Throne of Glass series and I love everything Laini Taylor writes, so I’ll my name to everyone that recommends those. 🙂 I’ve tried reading The Raven Boys, but I didn’t really get into it and ended up DNF-ing it, but I really want to give it another go since it fees like everyone loves it.
I loved Laini’s Strange the Dreamer so I’m really looking forward to starting the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I have no idea why I haven’t started it yet.
That’s a fabulous list:). I, too, haven’t yet read The Raven Boys or Throne of Glass but have had the pleasure of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Rebel of the Sands and they were awesome reads.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed both Rebel of the Sands and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I read and loved Laini’s Strange the Dreamer so I’m really looking forward to going back and reading her earlier series.
That’s an awesome list. The only one I’ve read is Raven Boys.

I read 5 of those, and they were all quite wonderful.
Yay! You’re definitely one of my trusted blogger friends so I’ll be making a point to get to all of these as soon as I can.
Great topic. There are a few on here I need to read, too! 🙂
Thanks, hope we both enjoy them when we finally get to read them 🙂
I need to try A Man Called Ove – I really liked the movie adaptation, so I should try the book after all the great things I’ve heard of it.
Lauren @ Always Me
I haven’t seen the movie adaptation yet either, but the book has been recommended to me by so many people I’ve lost count. It’s a high priority read for me as soon as I get caught up on my ARCs.
A Man Called Ove and Alex, Approximately were wonderful and I really don’t read YA contemporaries. I enjoyed in A Dark, Dark Wood and love the Throne of Glass series but sadly I am 2 books behind. (own them though) It moves towards high fantasy as the series progresses. I own the first Raven Boys on Kindle and Audible but like you haven’t jumped yet.
I think your review of A Man Called Ove was the one that first put that book on my radar and since then I’ve lost track of how many people have recommended it to me. I think that’s going to be my next backlist read once I get caught up on my ARCs.
Everyone loves the Raven Boys but I couldn’t get into it for some reason. 🙁
I’ll be curious to see how I feel about it if I ever get to it, lol.
You really MUST read “A man called Ove”!!!
Some of the titles that people are telling me to read: “The dry” by Jane Harper; “The heart’s invisible furies” by John Boyne; “Anything you do say” by Gillian McAllister; “Ragdoll” by Daniel Cole; and “Little fires everywhere” by Celeste Ng.
Oh yes, The Dry is another one that everyone keeps recommending to me. I did finally buy it but still haven’t read it yet.
I recommend The Final Six by Alexandra Monir, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone is really good.
So glad to hear you enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I am really looking forward to getting started on that series since I loved her book Strange the Dreamer so much.
Ahhh Bennett’s cover. Yes, that one is on my some day list. It does look good just haven’t gotten there yet.
I’m hoping it’s as good as Starry Eyes, which I just finished and loved.
