Top Ten Tuesday – Birds of a Feather: My Favorite Books with Birds on the Cover
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Books with Nature on the Cover (flowers, trees, landscapes, animals, etc.). I decided to focus on covers that feature birds. No particular reason other than I think they’re pretty and I love the variety of birds I’ve seen on covers as well as the different ways cover designers use them. I love the covers where the bird basically takes up the entire thing but I’m also a fan of covers that use them as accents like the ones on the covers for The Nightingale and The Unhoneymooners. I was also an over achiever this week. I came up with 15 covers I loved and couldn’t narrow down to just 10 so decided to just share them all!

What’s your favorite book cover that features a bird?
Beautiful choices, Suzanne, in particular, Crown of Feathers AND Descendant of the Crane. I would totally pick these up to take a second look.
I love what you did with the theme! These are all so pretty!

I agree. It’s one of my favorites.
I love these, Suzanne! I’ve always been drawn to The Astonishing Color of After, maybe its the color, but I do love that bird😁

I love that one too. The colors and the bird in silhouette are so pretty.
Wow, Crown of Feathers has a beautiful cover.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

I love that one too. 🙂
When I saw all those birds, all I could think about is how much Shannon hates birds. I have only read 6 of the books you featured, but I really loved them all.
I love birds as long as they’re not like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, lol.
These are all amazing choices! My favorite is The Descendant of the Crane!

I really love the Summer Bird Blue cover too. The colors are so pretty together.
I didn’t specifically choose birds as my theme this week, but about 60% of my cover choices were bird related anyway! I also had An Enchantment of Ravens and The Raven Boys, but I went with the main Hunger Games trilogy rather than the prequel because honestly, I don’t like the prequel’s cover very much! I love The Crooked Kingdom and Descendant of The Crane covers as well.

I love the cover for An Enchantment of Ravens.
Good choice! I’m always drawn to books with birds on the cover. 🙂

Me too. 🙂
Birds really are popular for book covers! Like you said, I love the different ways they’re used and the different vibe they can evoke.

Yeah, I didn’t realize how popular they were until I started thinking of nature covers and almost every one that came to mind had a bird on it, lol.
This is a nice collage of covers. I love The Unhoneymmoners- it’s jsut so colorful. Songbirds is nice too…

I do like the cover for The Raven Boys, and Hollow Kingdom has a cool one too.

I really like the Hollow Kingdom one.
I’ve never even noticed the bird on the cover of The Nightingale. Oops!

You’re not alone. The main reason I noticed it is because there’s a tiny one on the spine too. I pulled it off the shelf and was like “Hey, I wonder if I could use this one for my post”, flipped over to the cover and realized it was there as well.
