Top Ten Tuesday – Ten Books That Create a Cozy Vibe
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Cozy Reads (Share books that give off a cozy vibe, whether through atmosphere, setting, or some other factor. Please tell us why they’re cozy for you, too!). For me, there are a few different ways a book can create a cozy vibe for me. First, there are books like Once Upon a River and The Rules of Magic whose writing is just so atmospheric that it makes me want to cozy up in a blanket by the fire and read them. Second, there are books like The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches that have such a strong found family element to them that just warms my heart. Third, there are books like The Maid that although not technically a cozy mystery, they certainly read like one. And lastly, there are books like those from Amy E. Reichert and Freya Sampson who are both featured twice on my list, as well as those from Poppy Alexander, whose books are just such beautiful gems that leave me grinning from ear to ear and sometimes even crying happy tears by the time I’m finished.
Ten Books That Create a Cozy Vibe
1. THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA by T.J. Klune
2. THE KINDRED SPIRITS SUPPER CLUB by Amy E. Reichert
4. THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES by Sangu Mandanna
5. THE LAST CHANCE LIBRARY by Freya Sampson
6. ONCE UPON A RIVER by Diane Setterfield
7. THE LOST TICKET by Freya Sampson
8. THE RULES OF MAGIC by Alice Hoffman
9. THE LITTLEST LIBRARY by Poppy Alexander
10. ONCE UPON A DECEMBER by Amy E. Reichert

The House in the Cerulean Sea has been such a popular pick this week! I really need to read it.
It’s a gem of a book!
Suzanne! I see so many of own favorites on this list. Sampson is now on my auto-read list, and my love for Reichert is no secret. Witches, The Maid, and TLL brought the warm fuzzies as well. I tend to like the books that have a big community/found family aspect which is present in all those books.
Same here. A story that features a found family is almost guaranteed to be a hit with me. 🙂
This is a great selection of cozy reads! I love the idea of reading them but somehow always end up choosing darker books, lol.
Haha, I occasionally enjoy a darker book too.
I love that you manage to have so many definitions of what makes a book cozy for you!
I’ve seen so many raves for The Maid. It’s definitely on my radar.
It’s really a gem of a book. I still think about Molly the Maid even though I read it almost a year ago.
I love your list! I’m going to add some of these to my TBR!
I hope you enjoy any of them that you end up reading. 🙂
I love your explanations of what makes a book “cozy” for you. I love that you included THE MAID. That one is definitely cozy for me, just because it’s fun and it makes me smile.
Happy TTT!
Susan

The Maid was so good, one of my favorite reads this year. 🙂
I totally agree with Mandanna’s, Klune’s, and Setterfield’s books as cozy. I haven’t read the rest. Nice list!
Thanks!
The only one I’ve read from your list is Once Upon a December, but I totally agree with all your definitions of cozy reads!
Thanks! 🙂
I have so many of these on my TBR! I can’t wait to experience them for myself.

I hope you love them all! 🙂
I don’t know that I can define what a cozy vibe looks like in a book, but I know it when I read it. And I’ve read and enjoyed several books on your list: The Maid, The Littlest Library, and Once Upon A River. And so many other books on your list are now on my TBR list. 😀
I hope you enjoy them all! 🙂
I’ve read The Maid and the two Freya Sampson books. I think a cozy vibe can be a cozy mystery or a cozy feeling is a story where there is a good circle of friends and family for support.
I agree with you on the circle of friends and supportive family both giving cozy vibes.
I really want to read The Maid, I’ve heard so many good things about it.
It really is a gem of a book. 🙂
I adored The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. It was one of my recent cozy reads. I love Alice Hoffman’s writing style and need to get back that series. Rules of Magic was so good. I’ve also read The Maid, which I enjoyed. These are all great cozy reads! I hope you are well and having a good week!
Thanks, I hope you’re having a great week too!
I’ve read some of the books on your Top 10 list, and am looking forward to reading Once Upon a December soon. The ultimate cozy book, for me, is Anne of Green Gables 👒.
Oh yes, I love that book!
You’re right, The Maid did have a cozy vibe, despite not being a cosy per say. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches sounds like such a lovely cosy read tho!
It really is, especially with its found family vibe.
The Maid and the House are perfect cozy reads!
They really are. 🙂
What a lovely list, Suzanne – thank you for sharing:). I’ve read 2 of your selection. The House in the Cerulean Sea didn’t chime with me – that said, I was right in the throes of Covid-19, so wasn’t perhaps in the right state of mind. But I thoroughly enjoyed The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, which I thought was adorable:)).
I love all your different ways a book can be cozy! I’ve only read The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witched and loved those, so I’ll need to check out the others!
