Top Ten Tuesday: My Top 10 Favorite Quotes from Harry Potter

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Top Ten Tuesday is currently on hiatus, so I decided to make this a FREEBIE week for myself.  I’ve spent the past year or so re-reading the Harry Potter series with my 9-year old son.  It has been a lengthy endeavor because he likes me to read aloud and those last few books in the series are huge, but I have to admit it has been a labor of love. My son adores the series just as much as I do and it has really provided us with lots of quality mother-son time as we make our way through the series together.  We’re nearly finished with the final books now, so I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite quotes from the series.  Some were quotes that made us giggle while we read, while others we found to just be incredibly moving and inspiring.  Harry Potter really is one of the best series out there for readers of all ages.

Most of my favorites come from Dumbledore, but my son really liked the ones that made him laugh. I think the darker the story got, the more he looked for and enjoyed those bits of comic relief.

Oh yay, I’m glad you’re enjoying your first read of Harry Potter. It really is (pardon the pun!) a magical read. I was in my 30s when I read it for the first time and my son is 9, and we’re both equally in love with the story and the characters.

Oh my gosh, I love this so much! I’m such a Harry Potter nerd. lol! My favorite quote of all time (from Harry Potter) is: “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light” <3 Great post!

I completely agree. My son has actually been really irritated along the way because we’ve been watching the movies too and he keeps noticing that lots of really funny moments with Fred and George Weasley didn’t make it into the movies.

This is such an amazing post and now I want to re-read Harry Potter 🙂 I love the motivational Dumbledore ones, but also the funny ones as they provide such great comic relief while the books get darker.

Haha, I actually kind of want to re-read it again on my own after reading it aloud with my son. Since he’s so young, I’ve been very grateful for those comic relief moments to lighten the mood a bit. I think this is the first book series he has read where popular characters actually die so it has been pretty intense for him.

OMG YOU’RE MAKING ME WANT TO REREAD HARRY POTTER SO BADLY! 😭 Thanks for sharing these wonderful quotes though! <3

(I'd also have to add McGonagall's "Have a biscuit, Potter" comment. xD)

What a great list! The Harry Potter books are so quotable! I love the more serious quotes from Dumbledore, but I also love when Harry gets snarky!

  5. Lauren

I wholeheartedly agree with all your choices! Those are some of the best of the best.

    Some of my favs:

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?”

“People find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right.”
