Can’t Wait Wednesday – INFINITY SON by Adam Silvera
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is INFINITY SON by Adam Silvera. I’ve enjoyed Silvera’s contemporary novels, so I’m eager to see what he does with a fantasy. The premise of this one sounds really interesting and I’m intrigued that it’s set in New York. I also saw the author make a comment on Goodreads that there are phoenix, which sounds cool. I’ve seen some mixed reviews for this but I don’t care — I still want to give it a go.

From Goodreads::
Balancing epic and intensely personal stakes, bestselling author Adam Silvera’s Infinity Son is a gritty, fast-paced adventure about two brothers caught up in a magical war generations in the making.
Growing up in New York, brothers Emil and Brighton always idolized the Spell Walkers—a vigilante group sworn to rid the world of specters. While the Spell Walkers and other celestials are born with powers, specters take them, violently stealing the essence of endangered magical creatures.
Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join the fray. Emil just wants the fighting to stop. The cycle of violence has taken a toll, making it harder for anyone with a power to live peacefully and openly. In this climate of fear, a gang of specters has been growing bolder by the day.
Then, in a brawl after a protest, Emil manifests a power of his own—one that puts him right at the heart of the conflict and sets him up to be the heroic Spell Walker Brighton always wanted to be.
Brotherhood, love, and loyalty will be put to the test, and no one will escape the fight unscathed.

Oh interesting, Emil discovers a power that makes him more powerful? I haven’t read a book like this with male characters — I hope it’s a good one, despite the ,ixed reviews.

Oh my goodness! What a fabulous premise – there are so many good books out there just now. But I’m always a pushover for sibling friction… Thank you for sharing, Suzanne and I hope you really enjoy this one:)

Me too!
I don’t think I’ve read a story with a phoenix yet. And I’ve heard of the author but haven’t read any of his books yet. Hopefully this one turns out as good as it sounds!
