Can’t Wait Wednesday – THE SHADOWS BETWEEN US by Tricia Levenseller
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is THE SHADOWS BETWEEN US by Tricia Levenseller. I’m always up for a good fantasy that has an unexpected twist and I think one where the main character plans to woo the King so she can kill him and steal his kingdom fits the bill for me. I’ve still not read my first Tricia Levenseller novel but I have three of them on my TBR because they all just sound so good.
THE SHADOWS BETWEEN US by Tricia Levenseller
Publication Date: February 25, 2020
From Goodreads:
Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.
No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.
But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

Awesome choice! I’m behind as usual on this author’s books, but I bought copies of all them to read.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is behind on her books.
This sounds intriguing!

Doesn’t it?
I still have to read her last book, but this sounds very cool!
I’m determined to get at least one of her books read before the end of the year.
This does sound good, and I adore the cover! Great choice😁
I love the cover too. 🙂
What a great pick! It sounds like it will be really good and the cover is amazing.
My CWW
I really hope it’s as good as it sounds.
What a cover! It sounds pretty good too. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
Interesting that Alessandra has to try to keep the king alive even while she plots to kill him herself.
I thought that was a pretty unique twist, lol.
Oh wow!
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.
That girl is ambitious Suzanne!
Haha, right?!
Ooh, this sounds great–and I love that cover! I’ve not read any Tricia Levenseller yet, either, but I’ve been meaning to and this looks like a great one to start with!
I think so too!
I had only read the Pirate King books from Levenseller, but she always seems to write fantastic female characters, which is a good thing.
I agree. I really want to start the Pirate King series before the end of the year if I can squeeze it in.
These types of tales never get old. I would definitely be up to reading this one I hope you enjoy it when you read it, Suzanne.
Thanks, I hope so too. 🙂
I am in the same boat as you! I have all three of her previous books on my TBR. I hadn’t even heard of this one, but I LOVE the premise! I’ll be on the lookout for it now.
I am excited for The Play by Elle Kennedy.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is behind on her books.
Kill him and take his kingdom for herself. Absolutely sold. I love strong and ambitious female characters. I haven’t heard of Tricia Levenseller before, going to check her out. Great choice Suzanne, will be keeping an eye out for this one as well!
I love female characters like this too. Hopefully it will be a great read for both of us.
Wow, this girl surely is ambitious and this sounds like an interesting story!
Doesn’t it?
Er, okay, Alessandra is BRILLIANT. Give me all the complex characters just like *her*!
Right? I feel the same way.
