Can’t Wait Wednesday – NINTH HOUSE by Leigh Bardugo
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. From the moment I read the Six of Crows duology, I fell in love with Bardugo’s storytelling. My love for her writing only grew as I then went back and read the Grishaverse trilogy. She’s now an auto-buy author for me and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us with her first adult series. It sounds amazing!
NINTH HOUSE by Leigh Bardugo
Publication Date: October 1, 2019
From Goodreads:
The mesmerizing adult debut from #1 New York Times bestselling author Leigh Bardugo.
Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most elite universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?
Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. These eight windowless “tombs” are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood’s biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.

I’d love to hear what upcoming book releases you’re waiting on this Wednesday? Leave me your link in the comments below and I’ll stop by and check out your CWW selection for this week. 🙂
I actually unfortunately wasn’t crazy about Six of Crows, but this does sound interesting!
Sorry to hear SoC wasn’t the best read for you. The synopsis for this one has me thinking it might become my favorite Bardugo novel.
This sounds amazing, and it will probably be my first Bardugo book, since I’ve managed to miss all her others😏 Great choice!
All of her others are great, but I have a feeling this one may become my favorite based on the synopsis.
Definitely looking forward to this! She hooked me with Six of Crows, too!
SoC is so good! One of my favorites.
I want to read this maybe. It’s not really my genre but it might be something to turn me into this genre.
I enjoy Bardugo’s writing so much that I think I’d read anything she wrote no matter what genre it was. Well, maybe not horror because I’m a chicken, lol.
Lots of snakes on covers this year, this looks interesting though!
Yeah, I’m not crazy about the snake on the cover. The story sounds great though.
I’d be more excited if I didn’t have to look at that snake and it seems every week someone is featuring it. Seriously though it does sound great. And as long as I get an ebook, I won’t have to look at the cover much.
Lol, I think I’ll be getting the ebook too. I can’t stand snakes and the cover makes my skin crawl.
This sounds so good! I am sure we won’t be disappointed. She is a fantastic storyteller.
She really is. I can’t wait to see what she does with an adult novel.
OH! This isn’t grisha related??
Right? That surprised me too. I’m very curious to see how her adult novel will compare to her YA fantasy.
Six of Crows made me fall in love with Leigh Bardugo’s storytelling as well. I can’t wait to read Ninth House, even if I’m scared of the cover (I hate snakes).
Happy readings! 😉

Haha, me too! I think I’ll get the ebook so I don’t have to see the cover much.
I’ve never been interested in reading anything by this author before. I didn’t know she had an adult contemporary in the works. I hope you enjoy reading it.
My WoW
I didn’t realize it either until recently. I’m curious to see how it compares to her YA fantasy.
I STILL haven’t read SoC duology. I need to do that. Love this cover!
SoC is so good!
This book sounds interesting.
Thanks, I think so too. 🙂
I’m so not patiently awaiting Ninth House. I would basically beg for this book lol. Also, that cover is so so pretty and clever and it just screams mystery and ambition and passion. I am so ready to fall in love with this novel.
I’m impatiently waiting for it too. I love Bardugo’s books so much.
