Top Ten Tuesday – Top 10 Upcoming Releases I’m on the Fence About Reading
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Upcoming Releases I’m On the Fence About (these are the books you need help deciding if they’re worth adding to your TBR or not). I’ve already added a ton of 2019 releases to my TBR, but here are a few more that I think I want to read but have been waiting to see some early reviews before I commit to adding them to my TBR.

Royal bastard Josse de Bourbon is more kitchen boy than fils de France. But when the Shadow Society assassinates the Sun King and half the royal court, he must become the prince he was never meant to be in order to save his injured sisters and the petulant Dauphin. Forced to hide in the derelict sewers beneath the city, any hope of reclaiming Paris seems impossible—until Josse’s path collides with Mirabelle’s, and he finds a surprising ally in his sworn enemy.

10. STEPSISTER by Jennifer Donnelly
Goodreads Synopsis: A startling, fiercely feminist re-imagining of Cinderella from the bestselling, award-winning author Jennifer Donnelly.
Isabelle should be blissfully happy – she’s about to win the handsome prince. Except Isabelle isn’t the beautiful girl who lost the glass slipper and captured the prince’s heart. She’s the ugly stepsister who’s cut off her toes to fit into Cinderella’s shoe … which is now filling with blood.
When the prince discovers Isabelle’s deception, she is turned away in shame. It’s no more than she deserves: she is a plain girl in a world that values beauty; a feisty girl in a world that wants her to be pliant.
Isabelle has tried to fit in. To live up to her mother’s expectations. To be like her stepsister. To be sweet. To be pretty. One by one, she has cut away pieces of herself in order to survive a world that doesn’t appreciate a girl like her. And that has made her mean, jealous, and hollow.
Until she gets a chance to alter her destiny and prove what ugly stepsisters have always known: it takes more than heartache to break a girl.
Evoking the darker, older versions of the Cinderella story, bestselling author Jennifer Donnelly shows us that ugly is in the eye of the beholder, and uses her trademark wit and wisdom to send an overlooked character on a journey toward empowerment, redemption, and a new definition of beauty.

I really like the sound of A Place for Wolves. (And the synopsis reminds that I *still* need to read Aristotle and Dante.) I like the mix of a burgeoning relationship and so much action/danger.
I still need to read Aristotle and Dante too!
These are all great choices, Suzanne. I’m intrigued by so many of them. I’ve always wanted to read a Jennifer Donnelly book, and I like the sound of Stepsister. I look forward to which ones you end up reading and reviewing. ♥️

I’m really excited for An Affair of Poisons, after reading Enchantee, I’m looking forward to more French inspired fantasy.
French inspired fantasy does sound great.
I am with you on Last of Her Name. I’m just not sure even though it does kind of sound good!
Right? I really need to see some reviews before I commit.
There are definitely books that I like to see what the reviews say before reading them. I haven’t read any of these, but I have an ARC of A Place for Wolves and I’m excited about that one. Hopefully it’s enjoyable!
-Lauren
I look forward to your review of A Place for Wolves!
I’m not sure yet about Step Sister & Last of Her Name as well. The Waking Forest sounds really interesting, though–and that cover!

I cannot go past the Cover and Title for Corpse and Crown — and to boot it’s a retelling of Oliver Twist, which I never enjoyed I must admit. Hopefully this will change my mind!
Yeah, I really want to see some reviews for this one before I commit.
The Great Unknowable End sounds so weird. I want to read it, but I’m nervous! It could go so wrong!
Right? I feel the same way, haha!
