Can’t Wait Wednesday – Spotlight on MUSE OF NIGHTMARES by Laini Taylor
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is MUSE OF NIGHTMARES by Laini Taylor. I fell in love with Laini Taylor’s writing style when I read Strange the Dreamer, the first book in this incredible series. It was one of my favorite reads from last year and the first book ended on such a shocking note that I’ve been dying to get my hands on the second book ever since. It sucks that we have to wait until October but I just know it’s going to be worth the wait!
MUSE OF NIGHTMARES by Laini Taylor
Publication Date: October 2, 2018
From Goodreads:
The highly anticipated, thrilling sequel to the New York Timesbestseller, Strange the Dreamer, from National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy.
Sarai has lived and breathed nightmares since she was six years old.
She believed she knew every horror, and was beyond surprise.
She was wrong.
In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.
Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice–save the woman he loves, or everyone else?–while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of nightmares, has not yet discovered what she’s capable of.
As humans and godspawn reel in the aftermath of the citadel’s near fall, a new foe shatters their fragile hopes, and the mysteries of the Mesarthim are resurrected: Where did the gods come from, and why? What was done with thousands of children born in the citadel nursery? And most important of all, as forgotten doors are opened and new worlds revealed: Must heroes always slay monsters, or is it possible to save them instead?
Love and hate, revenge and redemption, destruction and salvation all clash in this gorgeous sequel to the New York Timesbestseller, Strange the Dreamer.

I haven’t seen this one around. It sounds like a thrilling tale and I like a good thriller. I have to put this on my TBR list. Thanks for putting it on my radar!

You’re welcome!
I still need to read the first book but I adore this cover!
Me too. It’s so gorgeous!
We’re twins today! I’m so excited for this book, waiting until October is going to be REALLY hard:-)
I agree. I’m so ready for this book now!
Oh dear – another series where I still haven’t read the first book. Time to catch up although an October pub dates gives me a chance.
Lynn 😀
Oh yeah, plenty of time to get caught up 🙂
Oh no, I still haven’t read/listened to Strange the Dreamer yet. I’ve had a copy of for a while too. Ugh… This sounds soooo good too. Great pick.
I hope you enjoy Strange the Dreamer when you decide to read it 🙂
Oh I get to read Strange the Dreamer!! I in love with Laini Taylor’s writing since DOSAB! my most anticipated is The Broken Girls! 🙂
I still need to read DOSAB. I bought it after I fell in love with Strange the Dreamer and am hoping to get to it as part of my backlist challenge reading.
This sounds like a really interesting series – I’ve never read Laini Taylor but I’d love to give this a try! 😀
Here’s my Wednesday post!
Her writing is gorgeous. I highly recommend it 🙂
I am absolutely in love with this cover this week. I need to read the first one but man, what a follow up!
Isn’t it gorgeous? I like it even better than the cover for the first book, which I also thought was beautiful.
I am actually reading Strange the Dreamer right now and it’s amazing. I know I’ll be picking the sequel as soon as it comes out. The cover is so beautiful. Great pick this week!
My CWW
I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying Strange the Dreamer. I found it truly captivating.
Oh good, I have until October to read Strange the Dreamer. LOL I LOVE her Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy though, so if you haven’t read those, I do recommend!
I still need to read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I bought it after I fell in love with Strange the Dreamer but haven’t picked it up to read yet. It’s part of my Beat the Backlist TBR though so hopefully I’ll get to it soon!
I loved her first series, but haven’t yet caught up with Strange the Dreamer – if there is a big old cliffhanger, then I’ll leave it a bit longer before tracking it down. Thank you for sharing:)
I still need to go back and read her first series. I picked this one up on a whim and fell in love with it.
Nice cover, sounds awesome. And it’s tough when a first book ends like that! Hope this one is awesome!
Right? I have such a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers, lol.
This is such a beautiful cover! I still haven’t read Strange the Dreamer but I fell in love with that cover, as well! There are so many great books coming out this year!
Yes, this is one of my favorite covers so far this year. I love everything about it!
OOO I love this cover – it’s so pretty and poster worthy. 😀
My coblogger from my other blog keeps hounding me to read Strange the Dreamer, but I haven’t because the name of the book is really strange if you put it as an acronym (I thank another blogger for that tidbit).
I did read her debut series and enjoyed it a little (it was in audio so it might be different if I read it in physical format than audio), so I might look past the little things and give Strange the Dreamer a try (also to keep my friend quiet, haha).
Oh, Strange the Dreamer is amazing. I don’t blame her for hounding you to read it, haha!
I haven’t read the first book in this series, but Laini Taylor’s writing is just DIVINE.

I still need to go back and read her Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, but I definitely agree about her writing. It’s so beautiful.
Oh wow! I need to go back and check out the first in this series — epic pick, Suzanne!
It’s such a great series!
I’ve enjoyed the author’s other books! Also, that cover is stunning! I think my library has Strange the Dreamer, but I wasn’t aware a sequel was already on the way, and then another in October… so far away!
Do You Dog-ear?
I still need to go back and read her other series, but this one is incredible. I hate that I have to wait until October to get the next book, lol.
Fantastic choice! I loved Strange the Dreamer and can’t wait to read what will happen next!
Same! Wish I didn’t have to wait until October to get the next book, lol.
I CAN’T WAIT for this one too! Strange The Dreamer was one of my fave books last year so I just know I’m going to love this one too. Excellent choice! <3

Same here! I also want to go back and read her first series since I haven’t tried that yet. Her writing is just so gorgeous.
I recently bought a copy of Strange the Dreamer and am looking forward to reading it. This one looks good too! Love the cover.
Isn’t it beautiful? One of my favorite covers so far this year.
I’m excited for this as well!
I wish we didn’t have to wait so long, but I know the wait will be worth it.
