Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read. I’m a little embarrassed to say that all of these books were added to my Goodreads ‘Want to Read’ shelf back in 2012 and I still haven’t touched any of them. There’s something about each of them though that still appeals to me, so even when I do occasionally go in and purge, these books still remain. Considering they’ve been sitting there for six years, it seems doubtful that I’ll ever actually make the time for them, but we’ll see. Maybe 2018 is finally the year…

I am pretty sure I have the Diane Chamberlain book on my TBR and it has been there for a LONG time too!!
I don’t even remember adding it but every time I think about removing it, I read the synopsis and think I may read it after all, lol.
My list is from 2011 and 2012 too so you are not alone! lol There are some really well known books on your list and I have to admit I haven’t read any of them either. Someday! 🙂
Glad I’m not alone with with the 2011/2012 entries, lol.
I cant believe I haven’t read SHADOW OF THE WIND either. I bet is one of the oldest books on my TBR too! I should read Infermo too. I’ll add it now to my Classic shelf in GR. Thanks for the reminder!
I’ve started Shadow of the Wind a couple of times now and keep setting it aside to read other things. I’m determined to get through that one though. I’ve read way too many great reviews to just abandon it.
I just said ENOUGH and requested it from the library LOL I’m like number 10 on the waiting list though UGH but that tells how good it is right?
Haha, I’d say so!
I tried reading ‘shadow of the wind’ – just couldn’t get into it. the same with ‘burial rites’ as I think the language is a bit hard to understand but that’s probably me. I read ‘the accidental tourist’ a while back and I remember liking it but all I can seem to remember is the movie instead but I think it’s a good book.
have a lovely day.
I’ve been thinking of ditching Burial Rites anyway because I don’t even remember putting it on my TBR and I think you just convinced me it’s the right move.
I made myself read Dante’s Inferno when I was in HS (for fun). I can’t tell you what happened. Haha.
I read bits and pieces of it for school but some day I would like to read it cover to cover. Don’t know if it will ever happen though, lol.
Oh, I get the embarrassment thing… I really do. To add insult to injury, not only do I have some books on my TBR going all the way back to 2013, but I also own many of them. The ones I shared for this linkup are the ones I have actually paid for, but yet have not read/listened to.
Visiting from TTT
Oh, I share your embarrassment on that one too. At least half of the ones on my list are sitting on the shelf behind me, haha.
I have not read any of these, but I do hope you get the chance to read some of them soon. I have so many books I bought years ago on my actual shelves that I really need to get to – I have no idea which one were there the longest though.
I had to rely on my Goodreads shelves for how long I’ve had them on my list. I don’t know that it was 100% accurate but I’m usually pretty good about logging them as I get them.
The only one here that I’ve read is The Accidental Tourist, and I can’t remember anything about it.
If I didn’t actually physically own that one, I’d probably dump it.
I’m not familiar with any of these books, but there are also SO many books that I’ve had on my Goodreads TBR since 2011/2012. This year I hope to clean up my GR TBR. Having 1.6k++ books in it is intimidating. XD

Oh yeah, that would intimidate me as well! Good luck with your TBR clean up 🙂
I’m with ya in the TBR, most of mine have been on there for so long. You do have some good ones in there though. ☺
Good to know. Hopefully I’ll get to them someday, lol.
I haven’t read any of these, but the Diane Chamberlain has been on my list for a while, too. I think the book that has been on my TBR for ages that I haven’t gotten to yet is probably Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.
Oh yes, Shadow and Bone has been on mine for a while too. I’m pretty determined to read that one this year, especially after falling in love with the Six of Crows duology.
Oh my goodness! There are some hefty reads on that list! Do you know which one of these you would tackle first?
I think probably the Barbara Kingsolver book. I’ve loved every book of hers I’ve read, so I don’t even know why I haven’t gotten to Prodigal Summer yet.
I have Shadow of the Wind on my shelves too, there’s always so many books and so little time. Speaking of Goodreads each time a fellow blogger recommendations something that sounds good, I add the book to my ‘want to read’ list too. Hope you get to read some of these this year!
Thanks, me too!
Burial Rites is on my list too. It has been so long since I read it. I tried reading Shadow of the wind last year but I could not get into the book
I’ve tried to read Shadow of the Wind twice now and have struggled both times. I think I’m about ready to give up on it.
The Shadow of the Wind has been on my TBR for AGES as well. I vowed to myself that I WILL get to it this year NO MATTER WHAT.
I keep saying that. Hopefully this year it will actually happen, lol.
Some of these I didn’t realize were books, like Doctor Zhivago. I mean I’ve heard of the movie of course, but never realized…
And I watched the movie of that one and now can’t decide if I still want to read the book, lol.
The Shadow of the Wind has been sitting on my bookshelf for maybe 6 or 7 years now. :-/ I definitely still want to read it; it’s just that other books always seem to jump ahead of it on my TBR, lol.
Same. I tried to read it before but put it down in favor of something else and just never made it back.
NECESSARY LIES by Diane Chamberlain was a five cupper for me. Some of these look good and I am off to learn more about them! LOL.
Ooh, good to know about Necessary Lies. I don’t really remember even putting it on my TBR but every time I read the blurb, I’m convinced I need to read it.
Wow, Suzanne, I love this list! You’ve reminded me about Burial Rites — I think I should get to that before the movie comes out, and The Accidental Tourist — I actually really did like that movie!
Oh wow, I didn’t even know there was a movie coming out. Maybe that will motivate me to finally read it, lol.
Uh, Shadow of the Wind has been sitting on my TBR for way too long. I definitely need to pick it up this year, maybe in Autumn when I`m in a historical fiction mood.
Carmen`s Reading Corner
I keep trying to get into this one and keep putting it back on the shelf. I don’t even know why.
The Accidental Tourist looks good!
I know the movie is great, so hopefully the book is even better (if I ever get around to reading it, lol).
Some of these are on my bookshelves as well. I should probably dust off my copies and read them, but the new and shiny books tend to get more of my attention. I really do want to read Shadow of the Wind someday. As well as Sophie’s Choice.
Yes, I am a sucker for the shiny, new books getting all of the buzz. I really need to work on sharing the love with these older books.
