Top Ten Tuesday – My Ten Favorite Books of 2023

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!

Happy New Year, everyone!  I want to start off by apologizing for my lack of blogging and blog hopping for the past few weeks. Time got away from me, and I was planning to use my vacation to get all caught up and that just didn’t happen. All plans went out the window when I ended last week by face-planting on my neighbor’s concrete sidewalk one night while taking a mis-delivered package to their house (Thanks USPS!).  I’m okay aside from a busted chin and sore jaw, but needless to say, I spent the rest of my vacation on the couch reading.  I don’t think I have it in me to backtrack and try to get caught up on comments, so I hope it’s okay if I just start fresh this week.

Okay, back on topic.  This week’s TTT topic is Favorite Books of 2023. The hardest part about this topic is narrowing down to just ten favorites.  I did it here to fit the topic’s criteria and the ten I selected are ones that just really resonated with me and have stuck with me in many cases for months after I read them.  I really do have so many more favorites though and if you want to see more, later this week I’ll be posting my top 23 reads for 2023 on my Bookstagram account.

Happy New Year, Suzanne! I’m sorry to her about your fall, that sucks! Hope you’re feeling better by now!
Fourth Wing, The Seven Year Slip and The Fragile Threads of Power also made my favorites list this year. And Elsie Silver and Abby Jimenez are two authors I’m hoping to read in 2024 🙂

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about your fall, Suzanne. How awful. Hopefully you’re all healed up now?

Love seeing your favorites. The Yarros and Jewell books are on my list, too. I imagine Fourth Wing is going to be on a LOT of lists today. LOL

I also had Fourth Wing and The Fragile Threads of Power on my lists. Feel free to share on our Top 10 list from last week to share with more readers. I love seeing your list and have no doubt there are some books there I need to read.

I really loved Seven Year Slip. And I’m anxious to read both Yours Truly and Always Only Year this year. And I’m so sorry you fell; face-planting like that is the worst. I wouldn’t try and backtrack to make comments either. Wishing you a happy 2024! 😀

You poor dear! I hope you are healing well. Jimenez and Poston are staples of mine. Harvey is new to me, but I have read two other books by her since Songbirds. That’s how impressed I was.

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

I still have a swollen spot under my chin but I definitely feel a lot better this week. I’m so glad to hear you’ve been enjoying KWH’s books. Her Peachtree Bluff series is my favorite, especially on audio, but I’ve loved everything I’ve read from her.

Oh my gosh that’s awful! I hope you’re feeling better. Ouch.

    Happy New Year!

I need to get caught up on Lisa Jewell. I like her books.

I am so sorry to hear about your fall, Suzanne. Ouch! I haven’t read any of the favorite books you list here, but all are on my wish list or TBR. THE UNMAKING OF JUNE FARROW is one I keep seeing today and it makes me want to read it even more. I hope you have a wonderful 2024.

Oh no, that fall sounds painful. I’m sorry to hear that happened! Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you found some great reads to distract you from the pain. I can’t wait to read Fragile Threads and Seven Year Slip. Those are popular ones on peoples’ top 2023 reads. I hope 2024 is an amazing reading year for you!
