Top Ten Tuesday – The Romance Edition: 10 Couples I’d Love an Update On
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is actually Characters I’d Love An Update On (Where are they now that the book is over?). Since I’ve been mostly reading romance novels since the start of the pandemic, I decided to give this topic a romantic twist and focus on some of my favorite couples. I have to say that I’ve been very lucky in the sense that many of the romance novels I read have been books in a series so there have been plenty of opportunities to revisit favorite couples and see how they’re doing. Today I’m focusing on books where I haven’t had that opportunity. Sometimes we get nice little epilogues that give a glimpse into the future, but not always. When I become invested in a couple getting their much deserved happily ever after, I would love to be able to revisit them at some point and know that it truly was a happily ever after for them. Are they still together? Are those grumpy/sunshine relationships still working out? Do they now have little grumpy/sunshines running around?
Also, I guess if you haven’t read these books yet but are planning to, my list could maybe considered spoilery since I’m obviously telling you who’s together at the end of their respective books. But then again, don’t we read romances for the HEA in the first place? That it’s more about the journey to the HEA rather than guessing who ends up together? I don’t know. I’m just babbling. I guess look away if you don’t want to know the couples’ names, lol.
10 Couples I’d Love an Update On
1. Teddy and Everett from Very Sincerely Yours
2. Josh and Hazel from Josh & Hazels’ Guide to Not Dating
3. Eve and Jacob from Act Your Age, Eve Brown
4. Rosaline and Harry from Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake
5. Nina and Tom from The Bookish Life of Nina Hill
6. January and Augustus from Beach Read
7. Alex and Henry from Red, White & Royal Blue
8. Stella and Michael from The Kiss Quotient
9. Olive and Adam from The Love Hypothesis
10. Jess and River from The Soulmate Equation
* * * * * *
Loved The Soulmate Equation, and Beach Read was interesting! It’s not necessarily the case in these two books, but I always wonder about the couples in stand-alone books that seem to fall in love so quickly – what is their life together like now?
Right? Same here, especially if the couple is a case of opposites attracting. Are they still attracted or are they now just getting on each other’s nerves, etc?
I’m currently listening to The Bookish Life of Nina Hill and loving it!

I love that book so much!
“Do they now have little grumpy/sunshines running around?” 🙂
It’s always nice to check on on HEA’s I think. The Love Hypothesis looks fun, and so does Josh and Hazel’s. I mean, they all do really. 🙂
I think so too and sometimes an epilogue just isn’t enough. 🙂
To be honest, I rarely wonder about characters after the book is over, but I do often wish the story could be continued, because it was so much fun to read. So I guess in a way that’s similar!
I think so too. Many of the standalones I read, I often ending up wishing it would turn into a series or at least a duology.
We sort of got an update on Stella and Michael in book 2 (I haven’t read the new one, so not sure about there), but I would love to know more. I am crossing my fingers that Hazelwood’s sequel catches us up with that couple, but the rest are all stand alone. *sad face* I would love to know more about all of these couples.
I had no idea there was going to be a sequel to The Love Hypothesis! You just made my day. 🙂
Interesting list! I’d love an update on Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester. My post: https://pagesandpaws.com/2021/11/23/11-characters-wed-love-to-get-updates-on/
Ooh, that’s a good one!
Quite a few of these are still on my TBR (welp) but I’d absolutely love to know how Josh & Hazel are doing now! I loved them so much 😍 I’m defo also curious about Stella & Michael and Nina & Tom! I loved these couples ❤️
Josh and Hazel are so great. I swear that book really needs to be made into a movie. 🙂
I don’t read romance very often, but when I do, I read it for the happily ever afters. If the couple isn’t living that way after their book ends, then I don’t want to know about it! LOL.
Happy TTT!

LOL! Understandable. 🙂
I’ve read four of these…and have a fifth out now from the library…and I agree that I would love an update on all of them. Especially Alex and Henry from RW&RB!
Happy TTT!

Right? I’d love to know what they’re up to these days. 🙂
I think I read like 8 of these books and I’d indeed love an update on every one of those couples! The other 2 books are still on my TBR, but I’m sure I’ll also want more of them after I read them 😀
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’m not ready to say goodbye to any of them yet.
I haven’t read any of these, but I just had to comment on how bright and fun all of these covers are, I love it!
I love all of those covers too. I know some have grown tired of the illustrated cover trend but they just make me happy because they’re so vibrant and fun.
I’d totally love an update on Stella and Michael…and January and Augustus, too! Fun list. 😀
Thanks! 🙂
“Do they now have little grumpy/sunshines running around?” LOL I love that. 🙂
I’d love an update on Josh & Hazel. And a big yes to Alex & Henry. Those two just gave me joy. 🙂 And I’d love to read where they are now.
Yes, I find myself so curious about what Alex and Henry are up to these days. A sequel would be so fun. 🙂
I have not read any of these but I do love romance books. The covers all look fun. https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/11/top-ten-tuesday-thanksgiving-edition.html
I love the covers too. 🙂
I’ve read five of them and would love a follow up on all, especially Nina & Tom and Jess & River💜
Glad I’m not the only one. 🙂
I loved Josh and Hazel so much – if I’m remembering correctly, their book did have a really wonderful epilogue. But they were just such a great couple, i could definitely read more of them!
Yep, there was an epilogue. I just want more, lol. 🙂
Oh this is a great idea! yes I’d love an update on beach Read (I really enjoyed that one!) and the Soulmate Equation. Both made me smile as I read them, really enjoyed the stories!
Hope that your week is going well! Another rainy spring one here!
Thanks, it’s going well so far. Too funny though. You’re getting rain and I’m watching snow flurries at the moment. 🙂
What a lovely idea for a TTT this is! Getting an update on these couples would be sooo lovely! I expect babies and more HEAs 🙂
A big yes to the babies and more HEAs. Has me smiling just thinking about the possibilities. 🙂
I’ve read 6 of these and I’m always up for an update.
Glad I’m not the only one. 🙂
Stella and Michael and Rosaline and Harry!!!!!!! oh yes more please!
Yay, I’m so glad you knew who Rosaline and Harry were. I’ve not seen many reviews for that book and wondered if most visitors would know who I was referring to.
