Top Ten Tuesday – 10 Reads That Left Me with a Book Hangover

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!

This week’s TTT topic is a The Last Ten Books That Gave Me a Book Hangover.  I honestly couldn’t remember the last ten books that gave me a book hangover so I just went with ten that I actually could remember, lol.

For those who don’t know what a book hangover is, I think this fun graphic from Epic Reads sums it up pretty well.  For me, they are brought on when I have to say goodbye to my favorite characters in a beloved series or when I read a standalone that just puts my emotions through the wringer.

I have had hangovers from so many of these books! Seeing VE Schwab on your list so much reminds me that I need to get on a few of these. That graphic really does some things up perfectly! 🙂

This is such a great list with so many favourites! The Nightingale made it onto my list this week too. I cried so hard over that book lol I remember being the exact same way with Me Before You as well (so many ugly tears) 😂 Love that Epic Reads graphic — it’s absolutely spot on!

Oh I agree with the Hunger Games trilogy and Me Before You.
I haven’t read the Harry Potter books.. waiting to start reading them with my son.. hopefully this summer but the movies had me hooked so I am really looking forward to digging into the books.
I have only read one of the Winternight books.. i need to get on them. The first was really incredible.

I am laughing, because the first three in your graphic were mentioned by me today. The Nightingale, ATBP, and Me Before You left me a snotty mess. ACOMAF left me so pumped up. A totally different kind of hangover, but a good one at that.

Harry Potter! I well remember just how down I felt finishing one of the titles and wondering what the hell I was going to do with myself until the next one came out — it took me ages to get my head into another title after that.

ACOMAF, The Hunger Games, A Conjuring of Light, Winter and All The Bright Places all gave me major book hangovers too! And of course, Harry Potter, that one feels like a lifelong book hangover 🙂

The Nightingale, for sure. I felt emotionally drained after I finished it and couldn’t stop thinking about it. And with ACOMAF, I had been through so much with those characters. I was exhausted. LOL

Loved The Lunar Chronicles, Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games, too! And so many others are on my tbr: The Nightingale, All the Bright Places, and Me Before You. I own all of those, I just need to find time to read them. 😉 Great post!

So many great books on this list Suzanne! I enjoyed The Hunger Games, All the Bright Places, and
Harry Potter too, Bookhangovers are the worst, yet they are so worth it, in order to read such a fantastic story! I want to read Winter, and This Savage Song 🙂

The Lunar Chronicles definitely hit me hard with that hangover and I didn’t expect it in the slightest. I raced through that series! While Catching Fire was one I loved, the overall ending didn’t quite leave me with a hangover because I couldn’t like Mockingjay. Me Before You was definitely an emotional read… I think The Raven Cycle also nabbed me hard with a bookish hangover.
