Can’t Wait Wednesday – A HEART SO FIERCE AND BROKEN by Brigid Kemmerer
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is A HEART SO FIERCE AND BROKEN by Brigid Kemmerer. For those unfamiliar with this book, it’s the second book in Kemmerer’s Cursebreaker series, which is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Kemmerer is one of my favorite contemporary authors so I was excited to read the first book in this series and see how she does with fantasy. Well, the first book in this series blew me away! It’s the best Beauty and the Beast retelling I’ve read and I can’t wait to get my hands on this book when it comes out in January.
A HEART SO FIERCE AND BROKEN by Brigid Kemmerer
Publication Date: January 7, 2020
From Goodreads:
In the sequel to New York Times bestselling A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Brigid Kemmerer returns to the world of Emberfall in a lush fantasy where friends become foes and love blooms in the darkest of places.
Find the heir, win the crown.
The curse is finally broken, but Prince Rhen of Emberfall faces darker troubles still. Rumors circulate that he is not the true heir and that forbidden magic has been unleashed in Emberfall. Although Rhen has Harper by his side, his guardsman Grey is missing, leaving more questions than answers.
Win the crown, save the kingdom.
Rumored to be the heir, Grey has been on the run since he destroyed Lilith. He has no desire to challenge Rhen–until Karis Luran once again threatens to take Emberfall by force. Her own daughter Lia Mara sees the flaws in her mother’s violent plan, but can she convince Grey to stand against Rhen, even for the good of Emberfall?
The heart-pounding, compulsively readable saga continues as loyalties are tested and new love blooms in a kingdom on the brink of war.

I read an ARC review for this book earlier today and I’m even MORE excited to read this now. I really can’t wait to get more Grey and to meet all the new characters in this book! I have a feeling this one is going to make me super emotional (not that it’s hard, but still lol) 😂

I haven’t read any reviews for it yet, but I can’t wait. Like you, I think it’s going to be an emotional read.
Ahh, I still need to read the first one!
It’s so good!
I can’t believe I haven’t read the first book yet! It’s on my list, and maybe seeing the second book will be out soon will give me some motivation 😁

It was on my list for over a year before I finally read it so you’re not alone, lol.
I’ve been seeing this one everywhere. Maybe I should read the first one!
The first one is so good!
I still need to read A Curse! Hopefully soon. Hope you enjoy this one!

Thank you!
I really need to check out this series, thus ine sounds amazing. And it’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling too, so I’m sold.
My CWW
It’s so good!
I have the first one sitting on my kindle. I’ll probably make it a point to read that one at the start of next year if not before, so I can read this one in Feb a month after it comes out.

I hope you enjoy it!
I’ve been on the fence about the first because one fantasy is’t really my genre (with a few exceptions) but I do like the sound of the premise.

Right? And I’m enjoying this fantasy series just as much as I’ve loved her contemporary reads.
This one sounds lovely. I’m a sucker for great retellings…
Me too and this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve read.
This sounds interesting, Suzanne. I probably should begin with the first. Thanks for the share!

Definitely! It’s so good!
I am so in love with the titles and covers of this series! I started reading A curse so Dark and Lonely last year but fell into a slump and didn’t finish it. I’m definitely going back to it. Great choice!

I hope you love it when you revisit it!
I LOVED A Curse so Dark and Lonely and it is one the best retellings I’ve read — and definitely the best Beauty and the Beast one. I actually have AHSFAB and need to start reading it soon so I can get my review out into the world in time DD: I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Grey is my fave <3
