Top Ten Tuesday – Ten Witchy Reads for You to Check Out This Halloween
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is a Halloween Freebie so I’ve decided to share some of my favorite witchy reads. Some are old favorites and some are brand-new favorites, but they all feature witchery in some form or other.

You’re welcome!
Other than HP, I haven’t read any of these. Seeing The Worst Witch did remind me of a witch book I loved as a child, though. I think it was called The Witch Family – and I checked it out from the library *so many times*. 🙂
The Worst Witch is really fun. There’s even a Netflix series based on it now.
The Harry Potter series is the perfect thing to read at this time of the year! Good list.
My TTT.
Right? I love to read and watch HP between now and Christmas.
Great list, Suzanne! These are some great witchy reads 🙂 I obviously love HP and I also really enjoyed A Discovery of Witches and These Witches Don’t Burn! I still need to read Sea Witch and I can’t wait because it sounds really good 😍Definitely curious about How to Hang A Witch!
Thank you!
Great list! Labyrinth Lost and These Witches Don’t Burn both made my list this week, too. I need to cross A Discovery of Witches off my TBR!
A Discovery of Witches is such a good read!
I loved The Lantern’s Ember! It had spooky elements, but it was still a sweet story.
Right? It wasn’t what I was expecting going into it but I quite enjoyed it.
I just read The Wicked Deep and it is great for Halloween.
And I love The Worst Witch books. Great to binge on Halloween ‘eve.
The Worst Witch books are so much fun. I love the Netflix series too.
Great minds think alike! I also did a list of books with witches, but your list is almost completely different from mine. I’m glad we both listed The Rules of Magic😁
The Rules of Magic is such an amazing book!
I’ve read the HP series and Labyrinth Lost. I can’t really think of other witch books I’ve read, but I’m sure there have been some.
Labyrinth Lost is a good one. I need to hurry up and read the sequel.
I’m not a fan of scary books but some of these are on my tbr and look really good!!!
Yeah, I’m not a fan of scary books either so I wouldn’t consider most of these too scary.
I want to read Sea Witch!!! I read Killing November and liked it. I need to pick up How to Hang a Witch.
Killing November is one I really want to read. I’ve heard good things about it.
Gosh there’s some stunning covers in there Suzanne! SEa Witch is one that really intrigues me, I’ve read quite a few mermaid type books over the years and most of them have been pretty ordinary to be honest so super excited to give that one a try. Great choices this week, going to check a few of these out on Goodreads!
Oh, yes! I love a good witchy read. I am a fan of the Brooklyn Brujas and loved The Wicked Deep. I liked both How to Hang a Witch books. The historical stuff was really interesting and the author’s family history was really cool.
The Rules of Magic, Sea Witch, and The Lantern’s Ember are all oens I’ve been really meaning to check out! This is such a great list!
Thanks!
I need to read more witchy stuff! I think the Harkness books sound good, and I heard the show was pretty good too- I wanted to watch it.
I’ve heard good things about the TV show too and really want to watch it at some point.
Thank you for an excellent list! I am looking forward to listening to Practical Magic on audiobook, hopefully before the end of the year. I watched the excellent TV series of A Discovery of Witches and The Worst Witch and am dithering whether it’s worth getting hold of the book A Discovery of Witches.
You’re welcome! I haven’t seen the TV series for A Discovery of Witches yet but I’ve heard good things about it.
*rubs hands in glee* What awesome recs!
Thanks, hope you enjoy any that you try. 🙂
I think Harry Potter will always be my favorite witchy books! Happy Halloween!
Right? Same here.
Great picks! I just recently started A Discovery of Witches AND The Wicked Deep–I am hoping to get fully into them soon, I’ve jut been getting distracted by unrelated things, you know what I mean? Ah.
Oh yeah, totally. I feel like I’ve been the Queen of Distraction lately.
I really enjoyed The Rules of Magic and Harry Potter, of course. 🙂
My TTT
They’re both just so good!
Sea Witch is one I really want to read! It sounds amazing to me. I actually did reread Harry Potter in October, and recently finished Serpent & Dove which was also a witchy read for me :3
I hope you enjoy Sea Witch. I need to get my hands on the next book in the series because I’m very curious to see where the author takes the story next.
