Can’t Wait Wednesday – THE BOOKISH LIFE OF NINA HILL by Abbi Waxman
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is THE BOOKISH LIFE OF NINA HILL by Abbi Waxman. I have to admit that the bright, bookish cover is what made me first notice this book. Then I realized the book was written by Abbi Waxman and knew it had to go on my TBR. It just sounds like one of those books that’s going to be so relatable.
THE BOOKISH LIFE OF NINA HILL by Abbi Waxman
Publication Date: July 9, 2019
From Goodreads:
The author of Other People’s Houses and The Garden of Small Beginnings delivers a quirky and charming novel chronicling the life of confirmed introvert Nina Hill as she does her best to fly under everyone’s radar.
Meet Nina Hill: A young woman supremely confident in her own…shell.
The only child of a single mother, Nina has her life just as she wants it: a job in a bookstore, a kick-butt trivia team, a world-class planner and a cat named Phil. If she sometimes suspects there might be more to life than reading, she just shrugs and picks up a new book.
When the father Nina never knew existed suddenly dies, leaving behind innumerable sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, Nina is horrified. They all live close by! They’re all–or mostly all–excited to meet her! She’ll have to Speak. To. Strangers. It’s a disaster! And as if that wasn’t enough, Tom, her trivia nemesis, has turned out to be cute, funny, and deeply interested in getting to know her. Doesn’t he realize what a terrible idea that is?
Nina considers her options: 1) Completely change her name and appearance. (Too drastic, plus she likes her hair.); 2) Flee to a deserted island. (Hard pass, see: coffee); or 3) Hide in a corner of her apartment and rock back and forth. (Already doing it.)
It’s time for Nina to come out of her comfortable shell, but she isn’t convinced real life could ever live up to fiction. It’s going to take a brand-new family, a persistent suitor, and the combined effects of ice cream and trivia to make her turn her own fresh page.

I am dying to read this one, too! I think that I saw it on NG not too long ago. I love the synopsis and that super cute cover as well. 🙂
It sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
This sounds so cute! I’m really looking forward to this one, too.
I think it’s going to be a relatable read for a lot of us, lol.
Not like something I usually read but for some reason, this one is calling to me! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome 🙂
The cover of this one — such bright, summery colours! — definitely caught me eye too! But it also sound like a really enjoyable read. I’ll look it up!
My WOW for this week.
I love the cover so much!
OMG Nina sounds just like…me!! Gotta read this, thanks for sharing!
Right? I felt the same way when I read the synopsis.
OMG, the cover – I LOVE IT! And the summary sounds awesome. Could be my private life *smile*. Thanks for sharing and happy reading.
Best wishes

Thanks!
This book sounds perfect for me. I need it!!!
Right?!
You had me at bookish. This sounds absolutely delightful Suzanne, I haven’t heard of the author before though I don’t think. I love how relatable NIna is, I prefer to curl up with a great read above all else too and avoid being social where possible. So many new family members who are virtually strangers, living nearby, popping in unexpectedly, this is my type of book. It sounds really hilarious. Thanks for putting this on my radar Suzanne!
She writes very entertaining books so I have high hopes for this one.
I just learned about this one the other day and it sounds wonderful! I think a lot of can relate to Nina and that is what makes me so interesting in it. Great pick!
Thanks! Yes, I think a lot of people in the bookish community are going to find this one relatable. 🙂
This is new to me, but it sounds really cute! I hope you enjoy reading it.
My WoW
Thanks, me too!
I really enjoyed Waxman’s last book. Nina sounds like someone I would love, and the idea of this introvert getting thrust into this huge family sounds fun.
Doesn’t it? I really hope it’s going to be as fun as it sounds.
This one is going to be SO good, Suzanne. I just know it. Love that colorful cover too!
I really hope it will be since I’m so psyched for it!
We bookworms do love books about bookworms 😛 This sounds cute!
Yes we do! 🙂
Very beautiful and detailed review. Thank you for your views on this. I love the cover!
I love the cover too. The colors are so great.
This cover! You’re right, it’s so striking – and honestly, I feel like Nina is my spirit animal some days lol This sounds like such a gorgeous read!
Right? I felt like I was reading about myself as I read the synopsis, lol.
I remember Waxman’s Other People’s Houses getting some attention last year but I’ve yet to read anything by her. This one sounds fun, though. Nina’s life is definitely being shook up!
She’s very funny so I’m hoping this will be an entertaining and relatable read. 🙂
I am eager to read this one too! It sounds like it will be a delight!
Doesn’t it? I have a feeling it’s going to be a popular read. 🙂
This sounds really good, and I like the cover!
Isn’t that cover great?
Oh my gosh!! I love the cover and how the O’s in Bookish are her glasses!!
Right? I’m completely in love with that cover. It’s perfect!
