Can’t Wait Wednesday – THE DARK DESCENT OF ELIZABETH FRANKENSTEIN by Kiersten White
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is THE DARK DESCENT OF ELIZABETH FRANKENSTEIN by Kiersten White. I’m always in the mood for a good retelling and this one sounds particularly interesting, especially since it comes from the perspective of Elizabeth rather than from Dr. Frankenstein himself.
THE DARK DESCENT OF ELIZABETH FRANKENSTEIN by Kiersten White
Publication Date: September 25, 2018
From Goodreads:
Elizabeth Lavenza hasn’t had a proper meal in weeks. Her thin arms are covered with bruises from her “caregiver,” and she is on the verge of being thrown into the streets . . . until she is brought to the home of Victor Frankenstein, an unsmiling, solitary boy who has everything–except a friend.
Victor is her escape from misery. Elizabeth does everything she can to make herself indispensable–and it works. She is taken in by the Frankenstein family and rewarded with a warm bed, delicious food, and dresses of the finest silk. Soon she and Victor are inseparable.
But her new life comes at a price. As the years pass, Elizabeth’s survival depends on managing Victor’s dangerous temper and entertaining his every whim, no matter how depraved. Behind her blue eyes and sweet smile lies the calculating heart of a girl determined to stay alive no matter the cost . . . as the world she knows is consumed by darkness.

Thanks!
This sounds very dark, and I definitely want to read it!
If you do, I hope you enjoy it!
This sounds so cool, and that cover is everything!
I love the cover too.
I’m so glad this one comes out soon!
Me too. I’m so ready for it.
This sounds so good, and I like that it’s a re-telling of sorts, but the author really made it her own with Elizabeth instead of just recreating Victor, etc.

I love that about it too.
Oh yes! This sounds amazing!
Doesn’t it?
This one sounds amazing! Can’t wait to read it. I hope we both love it!

Me too!
It’s been so long since I’ve read a Kiersten White book, so I’m really excited for this as well! I’m really curious to read this story from Elizabeth’s perspective too. ♥
I am too. That’s such a different perspective from the classic tale I’m used to.
Elizabeth sounds like such an interesting character. I hadn’t heard of this before, Suzanne, but I am intrigued! This sounds perfect for this time of year.
I agree. It seems like it would make for a great Halloween read. 🙂
This one really does sound so interesting! I’m excited to see how the author decided to tell this particular retelling. Great choice! 🙂
Thanks!
Someone said that this one is super dark (which I’m all about)!
I’ve heard that too and I’m right there with you!
I’m really curious about this one, it looks a bit dark and twisted, and I also like that it’s NOT from Dr. Frankenstein’s POV, but hers instead.
I love that about it too. So different from the classic tale we’re all used to.
Never heard of this one, but it sounds really unique and thought provoking! Hugs…RO
Doesn’t it? I’m really excited to get my hands on a copy.
This one sounds very dark, Suzanne – but then it should be with a Frankenstein retelling. I hope you enjoy this one.
Thanks, me too!
I want to read this one too! I love Frankenstein retellings and also love the idea of getting to see the story from a different perspective.
Yes, the different perspective intrigues me so much!
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein is such a great pick. I can’t wait to read it too. I’m so happy this year is <I<Frankenstein's bicentenary because of all the retellings that are coming out.
Happy readings! 😉
