Top Ten Tuesday – My Top 10 Favorite Reads of 2018 (So Far!)
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Best Books I’ve Read In 2018 (So Far). The hardest part of this week’s topic was actually narrowing down to just ten great books I’ve read so far this year because I’ve had a pretty great reading year thus far. Hopefully saying that won’t jinx me and throw me into an epic reading slump, haha! Anyway, after much thought, I was able to choose ten favorites. Most are 2018 releases, but a couple of them are 2017 releases that I read while tackling my backlist and fell in love with.

If I had included non 2018 releases, Far From the Tree would have easily made my list. Benway is just so wonderful! I Have Lost My Way almost made my top ten too. Forman came back to YA so strong.
I really need to read more of Forman’s books. This was my first and I just thought it was incredible.
So happy to see Last Time I Lied on there. I didn’t love her last book but this one looked so good. I loved Cruel Prince too. I Have Lost My Way and More Than We Can Tell were great. I’m excited for the new Ruth Ware!
I enjoyed Final Girls but just thought this one was so much better.
To Kill A Kingdon and The Cruel Prince are also on my list! Really great reads! I have also Ace of Shades and Milk and Honey and others :))
I just bought Ace of Shades so I’m glad to hear you loved it. I haven’t heard much about Milk and Honey but will have to check it out since we have similar taste in books 🙂
Children of Blood and Bone tops the list for me right now for a 2018 best of list. This is a wonderfully diverse list, Suzanne!
That’s one I’m planning to read this summer and I can’t wait!
I really liked More Than We Can Tell as well! I really need to read To Kill a Kingdom and The Cruel Prince. I’ve heard amazing things about those. Wonderful list!!

Brigid Kemmerer is so great. I can’t wait to read more from her.
Yes to Dark Matter!! I loved that one so much! One of my favorites from last year.
It was so good. I really can’t wait to read more from that author.
I love this list! So happy to see Dark Matter on here, as well as The Cruel Prince. I can’t wait to read To Kill a Kingdom😁
Dark Matter was amazing!
I loved Dark Matter last year, so great! And Cruel Prince is on my list as well. Great list!
Thanks!
Girl Made of Stars is now officially on my TBR. It sounds so good.
This is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I hope you love it!
I can’t believe I haven’t read THe Great Alone yet. Kristin Hannah is typically an auto-buy for me. Her storytelling is phenomenal and I’m always impacted by her books. I really need to get to More Than We Can Tell soon. I loved Letters to the Lost and would love to get Rev’s story. I have so much love for Far From the Tree. I read that one last year and I think I cried at almost all of Joaquin’s chapters. Love, love, love that book. 💜💜💜 Yes, yes, yes to The Cruel Prince! That’s been one of my big surprises this year!
OMG, yes. Joaquin had me in tears several times while I was reading that book. I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Dark Matter is great! And I definitely want to read Far From the Tree!
Far from the Tree is so good. It made me cry so much, lol.
To Kill A Kingdom and The Cruel Prince were amazing! Girl Made From Stars and More Than We Can Tell (and Letters To The Lost) are on my TBR, so happy to hear you loved them!
I still need to read Letters to the Lost! Planning to read it before the end of the summer 🙂
What a great list of books! I’m planning to pick up To Kill a Kingdom soon, so I love seeing it on here. I thought The Cruel Prince was also great, I was so pleasantly surprised by it. I’ve not read any of the others, but I’ll definitely keep my eye out for them!
I was surprised by how much I loved The Cruel Prince too. It definitely lives up to the hype 🙂
I still need to read most of these! I’m really looking forward to Girl Made of Stars. A few books I’ve loved this year… The Kiss Quotient, Silver Silence, Words in Deep Blue, Royally Screwed, Cress, Wild Child, The Female of the Species… I know not all of these were released this year, but that’s when I read them! 🙂
L @ Do You Dog-ear?
I really need to get my hands on a copy of The Kiss Quotient. I think I’ve seen more positive reviews for that book than any other 2018 release.
So many books on your list have sparked my interest! I need, need, NEED, to get my hands on To Kill a Kingdom especially. Great list!
I hope you love To Kill a Kingdom!
Ah… I have The Great Alone sent by my lovely mother – and it is patiently waiting for my attention… Thank you for this list – To Kill A Kingdom also has caught my eye. I hope the rest of the year produces equally awesome reads, Suzanne:)
I really hope you enjoy The Great Alone. It actually surprised me how much I loved that one.
I saw Emmabooks talk about the book Girl made of stars! I want to read this book already!
It’s such a great read. It made me cry, lol.
there are so many good ones listed here. I loved The Death of Mrs. Westaway, To Kill a Kingdom, and Dark Matter. So many I want to read too like The Last Time I liked and Far From the Tree. Great list.
Far from the Tree is so amazing. The relationships in it are just so moving.
Great list! I own Far From The Tree, and I’m on a waitlist for The Great Alone. I hope I like them as much as you did!
I hope you love Far From the Tree. That one made me cry so much, lol.
A few on here I need to read like The Last Time I Lied, Girl Made of Stars, and Far From the Tree. Glad you’re having a good reading year. 🙂

Me too 🙂
Dark Matter was such a trip! I loved that one. and I need to get The Cruel Prince…
Dark Matter was so great. I look forward to reading more from Blake Crouch.
The Cruel Prince is on so many lists this week (including mine). I think we’re all eagerly awaiting The Wicked King (I know I am… talk about ending on a suspenseful note).
Yes, I really can’t wait to get my hands on The Wicked King!
Having trouble narrowing your list down to ten books is a good problem to have 😉 I still need to read Cruel Prince! And possibly Dark Matter!
Dark Matter was so good! I’m annoyed with myself for putting that one off as long as I did, lol.
I have just started To Kill a Kingdom (Buddy read) and I’m also reading The Cruel Prince (also a buddy read) so I’m really excited to see how these pan out for me!!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait to see what you think of both of them!
I quite enjoyed To Kill a Kingdom too. I STILL haven’t read The Cruel Prince but I’m scared of the expectations tower now…
I was nervous about reading The Cruel Prince too but it really exceeded my expectations and lived up to the hype.
I loved Girl Made of Stars – what a powerful, well done story.
Wasn’t it great? I really love Ashley’s books.
