Can’t Wait Wednesday – Spotlight on THE DEATH OF MRS. WESTAWAY
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is THE DEATH OF MRS. WESTAWAY by Ruth Ware. From what I’ve seen from a few early reviews, this is a suspenseful thriller that is full of twists and turns and juicy family secrets all wrapped up in a creepy Gothic setting. I’ve also seen several people mention that it’s their favorite Ruth Ware book since In a Dark, Dark Wood. I actually still haven’t gotten around to reading any of Ware’s books yet, but the premise of this one really intrigues me.
THE DEATH OF MRS. WESTAWAY by Ruth Ware
Publication Date: May 29, 2018
From Goodreads:
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of In a Dark, Dark Wood, The Woman in Cabin 10, and The Lying Game comes Ruth Ware’s highly anticipated fourth novel.
On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person—but also that the cold-reading skills she’s honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money.
Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased…where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it.
Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware’s signature suspenseful style, this is an unputdownable thriller from the Agatha Christie of our time.

I’d love to hear what upcoming book releases you’re waiting on this Wednesday? Leave me your link in the comments below and I’ll stop by and check out your CWW selection for this week. 🙂
Oooh, interesting! I like that Hal is an imposter, using her cold-reading skills to get the money — it speaks to how complex a character she could be. Hopefully!
Right? I really hope so.
I am excited for this one too I haven’t read any from this author. I just discovered her when I saw this book. I need to check some out I heard she has really great books.
I haven’t read any yet either, so I’m really looking forward to trying this one.
Certainly sounds it is going to be a good one, and I love the gothic setting. Great pick.
Thanks!
I’ve never read Ruth Ware before but I will have to consider this book, as it sounds extremely good! Thanks for sharing:-)
You’re welcome 🙂
I enjoyed The Woman in Cabin 10, and this one sounds good! A bit creepy. I like the Gothic setting!
I still need to read The Woman in Cabin 10 and In a Dark, Dark Wood. I bought them both and then got distracted by other books, lol.
Ooo! Gothic setting! I really like the sound of this one. I hope it is as good as it sounds. Hopefully you will get to this one soon. 🙂
I hope so too!
I read all 3 of Ruth Ware’s books up to now. I liked the first two and the third maybe not quite so much. This one is already on my list though. And I ‘Can’t Wait’! LOL
LOL! Hopefully we’ll both love it 🙂
Ooh this sounds good! I’ve yet to read anything by Ruth Ware, but I’ve been meaning to for ages. I’ll keep my eye out for this one. 🙂
Same here. I own two of her books and keep meaning to read them but then I get distracted by other books, lol.
I am always up for a good suspense thriller, and I like that Hal is trying to claim an inheritance that isn’t her’s. Sounds great!
Right? The premise of the story just really intrigued me, the idea that someone would have the gall to try to claim an inheritance that wasn’t theirs.
Nice pick! I just finished Dark Matter and although it’s a science fiction book, I’m now craving either a science fiction or mystery/thriller book, which is new to me. I hope you’ll enjoy this book!
Thanks, I hope so too 🙂
I do really want to read this one. I’ve only read Woman in Cabin 10 but Ware, but I really liked it (it’s hit or miss for most) so I want to read more by her!

I’ve been meaning to read her books for ages so hopefully I’ll actually get around to reading this one since it sounds so good.
This sounds like a great thriller…Like, who steals an inheritance… I would like to read this one also. I hope you get the chance to read it too.
Mary my Can’t Wait Wednesday!
Right?! I want to meet the character who has the gall to even attempt this.
I’ve read her previous books so this one is probably a must- get for me too at some point. I think The Woman in Cabn 10 was my favorite so far…
I have all of her other books but just can’t ever seem to get around to reading them. Too many books, too little time, I guess, lol.
What a very beautiful, sophisticated cover… I am curious about this author and I hope you enjoy this one. I am tempted as I’ve nothing but good about her books – but wonder whether it’s too dark. Does it tip into horror?
I’m curious to find out. So far no one on Goodreads has tagged it as horror, so hopefully that’s a good sign.
I have an arc of this one and it will actually be my first Ruth Ware read. I’m really excited although I’ve heard very mixed things about her.
I just got approved for an ARC too, so I’m pretty excited. I’ve heard mixed things about her last two books, but people who have read them all say this one is much better so fingers crossed that we both enjoy it 🙂
I like Agatha Christie, so I like the sound of this 🙂
Same!
Ohhh, interesting! I haven’t heard of this one. Thanks for sharing!
Do You Dog-ear?
You’re welcome!
I still haven’t read anything by Ruth Ware!
Me neither. This will be my first!
I really liked Woman in Cabin 10. This sounds like quite a fab read too.
I hope it will be. I haven’t tried Ware’s books yet so I’m pretty excited.
I CANNOT wait to get my hands on this one!!
I really hope it’s as good as it sounds!
