Can’t Wait Wednesday – Spotlight on THE LADY’S GUIDE TO PETTICOATS AND PIRACY
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is THE LADY’S GUIDE TO PETTICOATS AND PIRACY by Mackenzi Lee. One of my absolute favorite reads of 2017 was The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. It was laugh-out-loud hilarious and was brimming with lovable characters. Felicity Montague, with her razor sharp wit and her unwavering desire to become a doctor during a time where that was just unheard of, quickly became one of my favorites. I’m over the moon to know that she’s now going to have her own book in this series and can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I predict this will be one of my favorite 2018 reads!
THE LADY’S GUIDE TO PETTICOATS AND PIRACY by Mackenzi Lee
Publication Date: October 2, 2018
From Goodreads:
Felicity Montague is through with pretending she prefers society parties to books about bone setting—or that she’s not smarter than most people she knows, or that she cares about anything more than her dream of becoming a doctor.
A year after an accidentally whirlwind tour of Europe, which she spent evading highwaymen and pirates with her brother Monty, Felicity has returned to England with two goals in mind—avoid the marriage proposal of Callum Doyle, a lovestruck suitor from Edinburgh; and enroll in medical school. However, her intellect and passion will never be enough in the eyes of the administrators, who see men as the sole guardians of science.
But then a small window of hope opens. Doctor Alexander Platt, an eccentric physician that Felicity idolizes, is looking for research assistants, and Felicity is sure that someone as forward thinking as her hero would be willing to take her on. However, Platt is in Germany, preparing to wed Felicity’s estranged childhood friend Johanna. Not only is Felicity reluctant to opening old wounds, she also has no money to make the trip.
Luckily, a mysterious young woman is willing to pay Felicity’s way, so long as she’s allowed to travel with Felicity disguised as her maid. In spite of her suspicions, Felicity agrees, but once the girl’s true motives are revealed, Felicity becomes part of a perilous quest that will lead her from the German countryside to the promenades of Zurich to secrets lurking beneath the Atlantic.

Oh yes, I definitely recommend The Gentleman’s Guide. It was such a fun read!
I still need to read Gentleman’s Guide, and I’m so looking forward to it because it has such good reviews!
It was such a fun read. Lots of laugh out loud moments throughout.
I am going to look into the first book now, I like the sounds of this one for sure!
I hope this one is as much fun as the first book. I read that one in about a day and loved every page of it.
I still need to read The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. That one and this one sound so good!! I better add the first one to my very, very long wishlist. 😛 I hope you LOVE this one when you get to read it! <3
The first book is so much fun. I really hope the second book is just as good.
I almost chose this too! I decided to hold off because I find it hard to pick a book I’m excited for, and I could save this one for further down the road. I just love the cover, and can’t wait to read it!
I’m so excited for it and really hope it’s as good as the first one. It actually sounds like it has the potential to be even better!

Oh yes, I definitely recommend The Gentleman’s Guide. Such a fun read!
This does sound good. I’m like the only person in the world who just couldn’t get into the first book though. Such a bummer since everyone loves it so!
Aww, that is a bummer. I adored the first book and especially Monty even if I wanted to occasionally smack him upside the head, lol. I guess not every book is for everyone though.
Yes, I’m so excited for this; I hope the audiobook is good! I can’t believe the author had to find out about the finalized cover and summary on twitter. Haha.
LOL! I saw her tweeting about that. Too funny.
That does sound good. Who is the girl disguised as the maid? I wonder. Enjoy!
I was wondering the same thing, lol.
I read This Monstrous Thing by this author and really enjoyed it. I should check out some of her other works. Great choice.
Oooh, I haven’t read that one yet. I’ll have to check it out.
I still need to read Gentlemen’s Guide, but it will be one of my next reads! I LOVE these covers. 🙂
Oh yay, I hope you love it. I loved both the adventure aspect of it and that it was just hilarious as well. I really hope the second book has that same humor.
I remember seeing the Gentleman’s Guide around a LOT and I think most of the reviews I saw were positive. This one sounds great too. Secrets under the Atlantic? Oooh that catches my eye! And she sounds like an awesome heroine…
The Gentleman’s Guide was a really fun read and Felicity was one of my favorite characters in that, so I’m hoping the magic will continue in book 2.
I still need to read the first book, but this one looks awesome too!
Here’s our WOW: http://jennreneeread.blogspot.com/2018/02/waiting-on-wednesday-this-tiny-perfect.html
The first book is sooo good. 500+ pages and I devoured it in about a day.
I have seen so many raves for the first book, but I have not read it (yet). I hope the sequel is as good, if not better, than its predecessor.
Oh yes, the first book was so good. It has a great adventure and it’s just hilarious on top of it. I really hope the second book captures that same magic.
Me! Me! Me! I want to read this one now too. I just love the cover, and it sounds soooo good! The first book is on my wish list, but I want to read this one as well.
I want it now too. I hate that it doesn’t come out until October. The first one was just such a fun read for me.
I still haven’t read the first book in this series, but I’ve been hearing so many great things about it. T_T
It’s such a fun read! I’m really hoping that the second book captures the fun and adventurous spirit that the first one had.
Dammit, the Gentleman’s Guide was one that just fell lower and lower on my TBR 🙁 This book 2 sounds HILARIOUS! I hope it’s a good read!
Thanks, I hope so too!
I love the sound of this one, Suzanne:). I’ll have to see if I can track down the first one… Thank you for sharing!
Oh, if you’re able to get the first book, I hope you enjoy it!
I desperately need to read Gentleman’s guide! I can’t believe that I haven’t yet. And I adore both the covers of this series 😍😍
Great pick!
Me too. They’re both so gorgeous!
