Waiting On / Can’t Wait Wednesday – Spotlight on Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. This week I’ll also be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa.
My selection for this week is Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows. Aside from the gorgeous cover, this book had me at DRAGONS! From reading some of the advance praise for this book, I’m also excited to hear that Mira, the main character, is a somewhat flawed character since those are my favorite kind of characters to read about.
BEFORE SHE IGNITES by Jodi Meadows
Publication Date: September 12, 2017
“A fully realized fantasy world complete with dragons, treachery, and flawed characters discovering their courage. I couldn’t put it down!” —C. J. Redwine, New York Times bestselling author of The Shadow Queen
From the New York Times bestselling co-author of My Lady Jane comes a smoldering new fantasy trilogy perfect for fans of Victoria Aveyard and Kristin Cashore about a girl condemned for defending dragons and the inner fire that may be her only chance of escape.
Mira has always been a symbol of hope for the Fallen Isles, perfect and beautiful—or at least that’s how she’s forced to appear. But when she uncovers a dangerous secret, Mira is betrayed by those closest to her and sentenced to the deadliest prison in the Fallen Isles.
Except Mira is over being a pawn. Fighting to survive against outer threats and inner demons of mental illness, Mira must find her inner fire and the scorching truth about her own endangered magic—before her very world collapses.
And that’s all before she ignites.

“A fully realized fantasy world complete with dragons, treachery, and flawed characters discovering their courage. I couldn’t put it down!” (C .J. Redwine, New York Times bestselling author of The Shadow Queen)

The cover is gorgeous, isn’t it? That’s definitely what first drew me in.
Oh man, this gem is getting on so many bloggers’ radar — looking forward to your review, Suzanne!
Thanks, I’m really hoping this one lives up to the hype.
I’m not sure if I have this one on my TBR or not but it mentions dragons and now I’m all about it!

Right? Same here. I really didn’t even need to read the rest of the blurb once I saw that, haha.
Right? All I needed to see was the word ‘Dragons’ and I’m all over it 🙂
Interesting! I really do like the cover. I’ll be curious to see reviews for this one.
Yes, the cover really caught my eye as well, especially the dual moons.
This one sure i getting a lot of hype – which sort of scares me. I am interested in picking it up though. Hope you love it and I look forward to your review.
Yeah, I’m really hoping it lives up to all of the hype. It sounds so good though, so fingers crossed 🙂
I’m definitely interested in this one. Great pick!
Check out my Wednesday Post
Thanks! I really hope it’s as amazing as it sounds.
I’ve been seeing this book everywhere and I first realized that I had to have it when I heard there were dragons. I’m such a sucker for books about magic and dragons! Plus that cover is gorgeous. Great pick!
Same here! Once I saw the word dragons, I didn’t even need to look any further to know this is a book I really want to read.
Dragons *ears perk up* and a nice cover- love the two moons in the background. This sounds like a good one. 🙂
Haha! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who got excited to see there are dragons in this book. I hope this is as good as it sounds.
You had me at dragons and flawed characters. Excellent find!
Right? I do love flawed characters!
Love the cover. It sounds like it will be a really good read. Thanks for sharing it and thanks for coming by!
You’re welcome! Thanks for stopping by my blog as well 🙂
This one is new to me, but I’ve been into fantasy lately, so I might have to check this one out!
I really hope it’s as good as it sounds. I had gotten away from fantasy a bit and was reading more contemporaries but now with Six of Crows and A Conjuring of Light, I’m back in the fantasy mood again.
Oh I’m anticipating this one myself. I enjoyed her other series and can’t wait to learn more about this world! My WoW
Yay, I hope we both love it. So far the only other book I’ve read is My Lady Jane, which she was a co-writer on, so I’m really excited to read something that’s all hers.
