Can’t Wait Wednesday – Spotlight on AFTERMATH by Kelley Armstrong
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is AFTERMATH by Kelley Armstrong. This book grabbed my attention right away, both because I read some stellar advance reviews for it and because its topic is so relevant and timely.
AFTERMATH by Kelley Armstrong
Publication Date: May 22, 2018
From Goodreads:
Three years after losing her brother Luka in a school shooting, Skye Gilchrist is moving home. But there’s no sympathy for Skye and her family because Luka wasn’t a victim; he was a shooter.
Jesse Mandal knows all too well that the scars of the past don’t heal easily. The shooting cost Jesse his brother and his best friend–Skye.
Ripped apart by tragedy, Jesse and Skye can’t resist reopening the mysteries of their past. But old wounds hide darker secrets. And the closer Skye and Jesse get to the truth of what happened that day, the closer they get to a new killer.

Whew. It is sad that books about school shootings are coming out more and more, but I understand why. Her non-urban fantasy books have not hit the mark for me, so I’ll watch for reviews before I decide whether I’m going to read this one.
I’ve not read one of her books before so this one will be my first.
It’s been such a long time since I’ve read something by this author. This one does sound good!
This will be my first read from her. I’m curious to see if I enjoy her writing.
This looks good. I have mixed feelings about books about bombings and shootings. They have to be done right. This one looks like it will be intense with emotions.
I agree. I’m hoping this author handles it well. I’m intrigued that she’s presenting it from a different perspective than I would have expected.
Ooo… Kelley Armstrong! Though with not a werewolf in sight… This one sounds really intriguing, Suzanne – I’m looking forward to seeing how you get on with it.
Same here. I’ve actually not read one of her books before so I’m really hoping that I enjoy this one so that I can go back and read some of her others.
It’s sad when a story about a school shooter is timely. But it sounds like there may be something else going on here?
I agree. It’s something I wish would become a thing of the past. But yeah, there definitely sounds like a huge plot twist will be involved.
I just got an ARC of this one. Can’t wait to read it! Great pick!
Check out my CWW post
Oh yay, I hope you enjoy it!
This is interesting. Being the shooters family. WOW, that has got to be tough for that family. I will have to put this on my TBR list. Great pick this week!
Mary my Can’t Wait Wednesday!
Yeah, it definitely shows shootings from a different perspective than I’m used to seeing.
I’m starting to really like Kelley Armstrong’s stuff, especially since I’ve been reading the City of the Lost series.
This will be my first Armstrong novel and if I like it, I’m definitely interested in going back and reading her other books.
Sounds interesting and totally irrelevant but I love the name Skye.
I love that name too!
Oh wow, a new killer? That part really hooked me. And this might sound weird, but I’ve always really liked school shooting books. I guess because it’s an important topic? I don’t know…
Adding to my own wish list!
That part hooked me too. I’m especially intrigued by this one since the author is presenting it from a perspective that I hadn’t really given much thought to before.
That blurb has me intrigued. Would love to read this one too, especially when it’s about the family of the person behind the gun. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I’m very interested in seeing this from a perspective that I never really tend to give much thought to when these shootings happen.
I think this one caught my eye a day or so ago. Kelley Armstrong is writing some great books lately. Hope you enjoy it!
I keep hearing great things about her books. This will be my first from her but I have a feeling it won’t be the last.
Such a hard subject but it sounds really good. Enjoy!

Thanks!
This sounds rather painful. I love books like this!
Yeah, I have a feeling it’s going to be heartwrenching.
This sounds really good. I love her adult books!
This will be my first read from her but I keep hearing such great things about her books, so I’m sure it won’t be my last 🙂
I love Kelley Armstrong! I really need to catch up on all of her books!
Do You Dog-ear?
This will be my first read of hers and I’m really excited because I keep hearing how great her books are.
I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this before! I’ve read a few Kelly Armstrong books in the past and really enjoyed them, but this one has an extra hint of intrigue to it. I’m DEFINITELY adding it to my TBR!

I haven’t read any of her books yet, but if I like this one, I definitely plan to go back and check them out.
I heard wonders about Kelley Armstrong and I cannot believe I haven’t read a book by her yet! I promised I would read one this year! I hope this one is as good as it sounds!
Oh, yes, very timely. This sounds like it will be really good. I have enjoyed other books by Kelley Armstrong, and definitely would like to read this one as well.
I hope I enjoy this one too. I keep hearing great things about her books but this will be my first time reading one. If I like it, I definitely plan to visit some of her others.
