Can’t Wait Wednesday – Spotlight on ARTEMIS by Andy Weir
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about. It is a meme that I have loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.
My selection for this week is Artemis by Andy Weir. I’m excited for this one, not just because I love science fiction, but also because I’m such a huge fan of Weir’s debut novel, The Martian. I loved the survival story line, the way it was written as a space log, the witty and sarcastic protagonist, basically I adored everything about that book. So as soon as I saw he had another book coming out, needless to say, I was excited. But then when I read it’s a thriller — and it’s a heist story set on the moon! — oh yeah, count me in!
ARTEMIS by Andy Weir
Publication Date: November 14, 2017
From Goodreads:
The bestselling author of The Martian returns with an irresistible new near-future thriller—a heist story set on the moon
Jazz Bashara is a criminal.
Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.
Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of her problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself—and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even riskier than the first.

I loved The Martian so much and very excited for Artemis too. Greata pick!
Thanks!
A heist on the moon sounds SO cool, and so different from The Martian!
I loved that about it too. I like Weir’s imagination. He really comes up with some unique storylines.
“A heist story set on the moon”?! That’s it, I’m 100% sold!! I actually haven’t heard of this author before but now you have me curious about his debut. I’ll have to look into it. Great pick, Suzanne. I hope you love it when you get the chance to read it! 🙂
The Martian is a great survival story, especially if you enjoy a main character who is both resourceful and sarcastic. I read the whole book in less than a day.
Oooh, this one sounds really good! I just got the Martian and haven’t read it yet, but I loved the film and this sounds like a delicious heist/conspiracy/space book. 🙂 Thanks for featuring it!
I hope you enjoy The Martian! It’s such a great survival story, and I loved the main character. He was so resourceful and yet so snarky, lol.
The Martian was such a fun survival story! I can’t believe I didn’t already have this one on my TBR, thank you for reminding me!
You’re welcome! 🙂
Wonder if this one will be as popular as The Martian? Seems a lot of people are anxiously awaiting it!
I was wondering the same thing. Sounds like it has the potential to be pretty popular.
This definitely sounds intriguing ~ Great pick!

Thanks, Brittany! I hope so too 🙂
I really enjoyed The Martian so I may need to check this out, too! 🙂
The Martian was fantastic so I’m really hoping this will be too!
I’m getting more into science fiction these days. I haven’t read The Martian (although I loved the movie and do have a copy of the book to read). Artemis really appeals to me too. I will definitely be on the lookout for it. Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy it if you read it.
I really enjoyed the Martian and I’ve been anticipating this for a while. I hope it’s as good as I’m imagining.

I never read The Martian but I heard good things – about the book and the movie version. This sounds like a fascinating second novel.
If you like survival stories, The Martian is a great read.
A heist story set on the moon- that does sound so fun. I didn’t read The Martian but thought the movie was great. I may have to get this one, sounds like a lot of fun!
Doesn’t it? If it’s anywhere near as good as The Martian, it should be a very entertaining read (and will probably end up made into a movie as well!)
I was so sad when Netgalley refused my ARC request 🙁 It sounds amazing and I can’t wait!
Mine is still pending. I’m really hoping to get approved but am prepared for rejection since it’s so popular, lol.
You had me at Andy Weir. I have not read The Martian yet but if all the things I hear about the book are true then I will love everything from that author!
If you enjoy unique storylines and sarcastic, snarky main characters, you should definitely enjoy The Martian.
I saw The Martian, and had planned to read it first, but didn’t get a chance. Interested in another book by this author. Great pick!
Check out my Wednesday post
Thanks!
