Top Ten Books I Just HAD to Buy…But Still Have Yet to Read

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Top Ten Tuesday is officially on hiatus until March 7th, so I decided to go back and do an older topic that I hadn’t yet completed.  The one I selected is “Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Just HAD to Buy…But Still Have Yet to Read”.  This one is perfect for me because I’m the worst impulse buyer on the planet when it comes to books.  I could have 1,000 books on my TBR, but if I see a book I want on sale, I can’t help myself.  I really blame the Kindle Daily Deals for many of these purchases because $1.99 is just irresistible to me, haha!  Anyway, here are 10 books that I couldn’t stop myself from buying but still have yet to read yet.  I swear I’m going to though!

Question:  Are you an impulse buyer when it comes to books?  What books did you just HAVE to buy but somehow still haven’t gotten around to reading yet?

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I know I’ve had it for nearly a year now. I really am going to read it soon though, I swear I am, lol.

I’m trying to be less of an impulse book buyer – we just don’t have room in our house for any more of my books! But I did buy some around Christmas (hey, when people give me gift cards, I have to buy books!) that I have yet to read.

I need for that to be one of my goals. Once I physically ran out of space, I just started buying kindle versions, haha!

I really hope to get A Little Life read this year. I think I keep shying away from it because of the subject matter.

I think I can be a bit of an impulsive buyer, but I got better. That doesn’t meant that my kindle is not full to the brim with books that are on my tbr list. Only good thing, kindle book prices are so much cheaper than paperbacks, so I don’t feel too bad 😀

I’m trying to be better about it, but those $1.99 kindle deals get me all the time. I’m surprised my kindle will even hold anymore, haha.

I feel you. I’m the exact same way with books. I probably have 100+ unread books on my shelves because I want them ALL. I think it’s because I’m mostly a book collector. I hope you enjoy The Raven Boys if you ever get around to reading it! I read it recently and thought it was okay. I didn’t think it was fantastic like everyone says so I hope you like it better than me 🙂

Same here. I love to collect books. Thanks, hopefully I’ll enjoy The Raven Boys, although if I don’t, at least I won’t be as tempted to impulse buy the rest of the series, haha!

I do this ALL the time! I have probably 50 kindle books that I haven’t even thought about since buying them (because they were cheap, on sale, pretty cover, etc), but hopefully one day I’ll get to them. I’m currently reading This Savage Song, and so far I’m enjoying it! I’ve heard about Emory Lord but haven’t read any of her books yet. Good luck reading all these books!

I have so many of these that I just had to buy, too, and yet haven’t read any of them except Ruined by Amy Tintera. That was probably one of my favorite books ever, too. I’m constantly buying new books that I know that I probably won’t get around to reading for months, but I still feel the need to buy them – especially those $1.99 Kindle deals. I think I might have a book buying addiction!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who does this, haha! I’m also excited to hear you’re enjoying This Savage Song. I’m really hoping to get to that one this month.

My friend and I tease each other about this all the time because she has to have books immediately even if she can’t read them for six months. It’s hilarious, but I guess it’s nice to know they’re there. LOL

I don’t do this so much anymore, because with the whole digital age and not REALLY owning the book, I don’t want it to disappear from my Kindle before I have time to read it. But when I bought print books, I had a favorite used book store in town. The owner knew me, and every time I’d walk in, he’d tell me they were buy two get one free. I rarely left with less than one full paper bag of books!

    Nice list!

I can believe it. I’m such a sucker for those kinds of deals. It’s probably a good thing that there isn’t a used bookstore near me because I think I’d probably have even more unread books piled up in my office, lol.

LOL! Books I’ve bought but haven’t read is what I comprised most of my Beat the Backlist list of. I do the same thing, book buying binge and then they sit on my shelf.

Oh, and also, Raven Boys is awesome!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

LMAO! A very small fraction of the books I’ve impulse bought are on my Beat the Backlist TBR. I’m planning to read The Raven Boys as part of that challenge, so glad to hear it’s a great read 🙂

I am such an impulse buyer! I can have hundreds of books that I am dying to read, but if I spot a good deal, or I learn about a great new book, I just have to have it… and then it sits looking pretty on my shelves (or in my Kindle).I loved This Savage Song! I hope you get around to reading some of these. 🙂

LOL! I’m so glad I’m not the only one because that’s totally me. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed This Savage Song. It’s on my TBR for the Beat the Backlist Challenge so I’m hoping to get it in sometime this month or next.

I’ve got them both in my TBR for the Beat the Backlist challenge so really hoping to get to them sometime in the next couple of months 🙂
