Top 10 Literary Characters I Would Want to Have in my Squad
Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is a FREEBIE so I decided to do a top ten list that I think about every time I come across a cool character while I’m reading: If I were to choose 10 literary characters to be my best friends, who would I choose?
What qualities do I look for in best friends anyway? I’d say these qualities are probably at the top of my list: loyalty, intelligence – can be book smart or street smart, someone who has a sense of humor and a sense of adventure, and who is passionate about causes that are important to them, and who can also be a bit on the sassy side and give me a kick in the pants if I need it. In my mind, the characters I’ve selected embody most – if not all – of those qualities and I’d be thrilled for any of them to be a member of my squad.

This sounds like such a kickass squad! I would love Hermione on my squad as well <3 And things would never get boring with Lila Bard 🙂 Elizabeth Bennett would definitely be a fun and sassy friend. And Arya and Reagan! It would already be tons of fun just watching all these characters interact 😉
Right? I was thinking the same thing about watching all of them interact. It would be like an epic crossover story, haha!
I’d love Hermione to be in my squad too! And I forgot about Reagan, great choice.
I almost forgot about Reagan too until I started thinking about how I like to have friends who bring me out of my comfort zone sometimes, which made me think of everything she did for Cath in that book 🙂
Oh man, so many great characters here!! I can’t even decide which of your picks is my favorite! Elizabeth Bennett? Hermione Granger? Arya Stark?! Love them!! Great list!
Ah, what a fun idea! Totally agree with you on Hermione and Arya – they’d be the perfect combo, Hermione with the book smarts and Arya is just so kick-ass! Great list!
Right? Seems like the perfect group to get into trouble with and then be badass enough to get out of it, haha!
I love Lila and Kell! This is the only book I read from your list. I need to get to Red Queen.
My TTT,
Lila and Kell are so great. I really love that whole series so far.
Heck Yes to Stephanie Plum. She is amazing.
Right? Plus, I’d hopefully have the added bonus of getting to hang out with Lula and Grandma Mazur. Fun times guaranteed!
Love this!! I’d definitely want Delilah and Jo March in my corner, but I’d have to add Scarlet from The Lunar Chronicles!
Oh, I’m so glad to hear you say that. Scarlet is in my TBR pile for the Beat the Backlist challenge so I’ll be reading it very soon 🙂
Delilah Bard, Elizabeth Bennett and Jo! Tht is a perfect team
Right? And can you imagine how fascinating it would be to watch them interact with each other? 🙂
So I’m just imagining if we actually got all of these characters together in one room… I think it’d be an unbelievably incredible time. This is a wonderful list! Jo March, Hermione, Delilah Bard, and Elizabeth Bennett are a few that I would absolutely love to be friends with, as well. Great list. 🙂
Right? As soon as I made the list, I just kept thinking about how cool it would be to see them all interact together. Like the most epic crossover ever!
Very clever TTT! Somehow, when I was reading your best friend attributes, I just knew Hermione would be included.
Haha! Yes, Hermione was actually the first name that came to mind, closely followed by Delilah Bard. Friends that I could get into trouble with but who would also be smart enough to get us out of it 🙂
Completely agree! Love this idea! How cool and kickass would it be to have book friends come to life?
Please check out our TTT
Right? It would be so amazing!
YAAASSSS, amazing list! Hermione and Arya would be wonderful additions to any squad 😀
Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
Right? What an amazing time we would have 🙂
Reagan from Fangirl- I loved her character! I still laugh when I think of her and cath in the cafeteria poking fun at other students- which sounds mean but in the context it was kinda understandable. Anyway… Arya Stark, another great choice! Elizabeth Bennet is a fun choice too. 🙂
Yay for another Reagan fan! I really loved everything about her, including her snarky comments about other students. I think she would be great to get me out of my comfort zone, kind of like she did for Cath.
I love that you thought of Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing. Love that play. I also agree with Hermione from HP. I’d also choose Luna from those books because I love her.
-Lauren
I love Beatrice too. The play is amazing, and I’ve also always loved the movie version where Emma Thompson plays Beatrice.
Ohhhh, I would kill to have Delilah Bard as one of my best friends. This would be a stellar squad.
Yes, wouldn’t Lila be amazing? Imagine all the fun/trouble and the adventures 🙂
YASS to Hermione, Lila and Farley! With those three on your side, people would not mess with you!
