Top Ten Tuesday: My Top 10 Reads of 2016
Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Best Books Of 2016 (you choose — best books overall of what you read regardless of pub date, of a particular genre, 2016 debuts, 2016 releases, etc).
I had a great year reading-wise in 2016 and found it very hard to choose just ten favorites. Most of these are 2016 releases, but I did sneak one 2015 and one 2017 release onto the list just because I loved them so much. These are basically the 10 reads that moved me the most in 2016. Some made me laugh, while others made me cry. The common denominator between them all – they were all so beautifully written. Here’s hoping that 2017 is an equally great year for reading!

I have seen My Lady Jane crawl into a few favourites lists so far this year. I may need to check it out. Fantastic list, happy 2017 reading.
It’s a really fun read, so I hope you enjoy it! Happy New Year!
Eligible made my list, too! I haven’t yet read The Wonder, but hopefully I’ll get to it early next year!
I hope you enjoy The Wonder as much as I did. It seems like people either love it or really don’t, not too many in between.
You have so many books that I want to read on your list! I have the audio of Simon downloaded already! I’m planning to start it as soon as I finish my current audiobook. I also really want to read The Bear and the Nightingale. It sounds amazing! I have an ARC of Girl on Pieces that I need to get to. Great list! You made me even more excited to read these!
Yay, Simon is so much fun. I’m actually thinking it might even be better in audio format than just a straight read. I hope you love it!
I loved Simon!! There are so many here I need to read – Lilac Girls, Girl in Pieces, The Wonder and I just bought My Lady Jane. Great list!!

Yes, I just adored everything about Simon. Can’t wait to read Becky Albertalli’s new book when it comes out next year.
2016 definitely was an amazing reading year 🙂 And yay, Simon <3 It made my list as well and has become one of my all-time favorites! I'm also hoping to read My Lady Jane soon, I've heard so many good things.
I hope you enjoy My Lady Jane. I have to say it’s one of the most fun reads I’ve experienced in years 🙂
I’ve seen several of these on Top Ten lists or just good reviews, especially Bear & The Nightingale and The Wonder (and The Girls, actually). Glad you had a great reading year! Girl in Pieces and The Light of Paris both look good to me as well.
Thanks! It’s the best reading year I think I’ve ever had so it was definitely hard to pick only 10 favorites.
I really enjoyed My Lady Jane! It’s on my top ten for 2016 too! I’m going to have to add some of these others to my TBR for 2017!
Yes, wasn’t My Lady Jane just brilliant? I can’t remember the last time I chuckled that much at a book 🙂
I agree 100% – The Wonder was both beautifully written and a moving story. Whilst I found it to be a slow starter, once it picked up I was blown away by the story. Emma Donoghue has yet to fail me. I’ll be off to check out a few of these other titles now!
Happy new year!
Yes, Emma Donoghue is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Can’t wait to read more from her.
Girl In Pieces and The Girls are definitely books that I want to read. So glad to see them on your list.
Hope you enjoy them! Girl in Pieces is gut-wrenching but beautifully written.
I haven’t read this Emma Donoghue but I really enjoyed reading Room a couple years ago.
Oh yes, I read Room earlier this year and loved that one too. Emma Donoghue is fast becoming one of my favorite authors.
Lovely list! So happy to see Simon on here, I loved that book. I really want to read My lady Jane, I’m glad you liked it so much 🙂
Yes, Simon was such a fantastic book. I can’t wait to read Albertalli’s new book when it comes out next year.
I have read “the Girls” and “My Lady Jane”, and I liked them both. The rest of the books on this list I need to check out. Summer is upon us, and good books are needed 😉
I agree! I’m ready for some good summer reads 🙂
