Top Ten Tuesday – Books With One-Word Titles
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Books With One-Word Titles. One-word titles often impress me because it seems nearly impossible to perfectly capture the essence of the hundreds and hundreds of pages they’ve written with a single word and yet some of the most powerful book titles I can think of are just a single word. I’ve already shared some of my favorite one-word titles in an earlier TTT post so today I thought I’d share some of the ones I found on my TBR. I tried not to pick any that were just the main character’s name, but instead chose ones I thought conveyed the overall vibe of the book.
One-Word Book Titles That are on my TBR

Ooh, these are all so good! Cackle – that’s a great one, makes me wonder what the book is about!
Right? That one made me curious as soon as I saw it for the first time.
I love the cover of Cackle.
I do too!
Some of these are on my TBR too, especially Cackle! I was amazed how many I’ve read.
I still need to read Cackle too. I was on all hold for it all spooky season last year but it never became available.
Bride looks interesting.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I hope it will be. I’m excited to read that one. 🙂
All of these look very good, and I love the covers. Have a great day, Suzanne 🌞☕📚💜
Thanks, you too!
You found some great one-word titles! Hooked looks very good. And I want to check out Confess and Breathless and Icebreaker, too. 😀 I couldn’t find that many one-word titles on my own TBR list, so I went a bit of a different way for this week’s TTT.
I just saw your twist on the topic and really enjoyed it. 🙂
Oooh, I love hockey romances!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
This will be my first time reading one and I’m very excited about it. 🙂
I have wanted to read Cackle for awhile now, thanks for the reminder.
Me too. I had a library hold on it last year for spooky season but it never came available so I’m planning to try again this year. 🙂
Great List!! I loved Slammed by Colleen Hoover! Flawless by Elsie Silver stands out to me, only because this novel has been on my tbr for far to long. The title Cackle has me intrigued. I definitely need to go to amazon and see what this book is about!
I hope you have a great Tuesday!!
I just read Flawless this past weekend and loved it!
Icebreaker and Hook are on my TBR
I still need to read those too. 🙂
There’s something about a good one word title! I like cackle here and really loved her werewolf book Such Sharp Teeth.
I haven’t read that one yet but I’ve heard good things about it.
Love seeing the two CoHo books up there. Confess has the honor of being the first book that made me cry in the prologue. 🙂
I actually haven’t read that one yet. That’s one of the few I have left to read from her earlier books.
These all look so good. And I agree Cackle’s cover is the best.
I love that cover too!
Look at that! I read Slammed and Breathless. I forgot about those.
I went on a huge CoHo kick last year but never got around to Slammed. Hoping to read it later this year since that’s one of the few I have left of hers.
Awesome list! I keep seeing Heartstopper and Cackle on many people’s lists this week!
Thank you!
I had Legendborn on my list as well and this is the second time I’m seeing that Hazelwood book today and I haven’t heard of it before. Very curious! Great list 🙂
Thanks Dini and welcome back!
Damn I forgot Legendborn! Great choices Suzanne!
Thanks Sophie!
Good point! I’m a very wordy writer, so I always appreciate brevity when done well.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I’m a wordy writer too, haha.
I read Slammed but not the other books on your list. I will do this prompt next week because I have a ton of one word titles that I’ve read but I didn’t plan in advance to do up this TTT, lol. Next weeks TTT isn’t a topic I want to do so that works perfectly anyhow. Great list, Suzanne!
Thanks for stopping by, Rachel!
I recently read Niven’s other books so I’m excited to read Breathless next. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/my-top-ten-favorite-contemporary-romance-books/
Thanks, happy reading to you too!
I’ve seen Bride and Cackle quite a few times this week, and Heartstopper too. I’ve not read any of these books, but I did enjoy the Netflix adaptation of Heartstopper and am looking forward to Season 2!
I still need to watch that adaptation!
