Top Ten Tuesday – Books I’ve Read That Originally Caught My Attention Because of Their Unusual Titles
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!
This week’s TTT topic is Extraordinary Book Titles. I wasn’t exactly sure what was meant by extraordinary so I decided to tweak the topic a little to cover books I’ve read whose unusual book were what originally caught my attention. Some of them I’m not convinced I would have read if their titles hadn’t jumped out at me. As soon as I saw these, I immediately wondered what in the world they could possibly be about.

Question: Have you read any of these?
Great list! Dorothy Must Die is such a fun title – I always meant to give that series a try. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a great title, too – I love that book!
Right? Simon is one of my favorites too.
The poetry of beautiful titles tricks me into reading them.
Yes, same!
Even though I DNFed the book, I love the title Dorothy Must Die – combined with the cover, that one really stood out to me!
Right? I agree that the title and the cover are the best parts of that book.
I haven’t read any of these, but I have heard of them.

Thanks for stopping by!
It’s amazing how a good title can influence you to read the book. These are great examples!
It really is. I know a great title will draw me to read books I may never have given a second look otherwise.
These are some good ones. I have Dororhy Must Die. The title is catchy and love the cover it has too.
Yes, I really love both the title and the cover. So eye catching!
Wow, Die has an eye-catching title.
My TTT.
Doesn’t it?
These are all great titles! Turtles All the Way Down is on my list too! Happy reading! 🙂
My Top Ten Tuesday!
Thanks for stopping by. Happy reading to you too!
I definitely noticed the title of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda before I ever knew what it was about. I remember thinking it was such a “weird” title. Then I read the book and it became an instant favorite. So much love for that one!
Same here! It’s a favorite that I probably wouldn’t have even picked up if not for the title.
Dorothy Must Die and Simon are two that caught my eye for the title alone! John Green’s title is also an interesting one. Makes me wonder what the book is about and what the title means.
Right? I’m pretty sure I never would have picked up the Simon book if not for that title and now it’s one of my favorites.
I was also curious about Doroth Must Die. I really liked the first book too but I lost interest after that. Here’s my list https://speedyreadercom.wordpress.com/2019/10/15/ttt-10-great-book-titles/
Yeah, I recently finally read Dorothy Must Die and don’t have much interest in continuing the series.
You know I had to go to GR and find out what The Elegance of the Hedgehog was about. Great title!
Haha, right? I never would have read that book if the title hadn’t intrigued me so much.
I’ve only read Turtles and Simon, but I’m very intrigued by the rest of your titles! Great list!
Here’s my take on this week’s TTT!
Thanks!
What a lovely list, Suzanne:)). I have only read the Douglas Adams (of course!). But the Macenzie Lee book has also caught my eye – I love the premise!
That MacKenzi Lee series is a fun one that I probably never would have picked up if the titles hadn’t intrigued me so much.
Oh for sure the Best Exotic Marigold hotel would have got my attention too — and Dorothy must die. Yup, there was no way I could resist that title!
Right? Pretty sure I wouldn’t have picked up either of those if not for the titles.
