Weekly Recap #51: Week of 4/29 – 5/5

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I’ve had a major case of Spring Fever all this week now that we have finally gotten some warm weather and the flowers are starting to bloom.  We pulled out and dusted off our deck furniture this week and now I’m just so ready to start spending more time outside.  I actually put on shorts for the first time this year today and promptly realized — when I could barely get my ass into them — that it’s also time for me to get out there and exercise more again.  I had been so good last fall about walking everyday and even jogging a few times here and there, but then I wimped out as soon as it got cold and haven’t done much of anything since.  I learned this week that even though I always say audiobooks aren’t a good fit for me, I actually do enjoy listening to them while I walk so yay for reading and exercising at the same time.  Multitasking at its best! 🙂

Speaking of reading, I’ve been in one of those moods where I just want to read books and not write any reviews.  Great for my reading week, not so great since I now need to hurry up and write 5 reviews before I forget everything about every book I read.  Why do I do this to myself?  My goal is to get caught up this week, but I’m not making any promises, especially since I just checked out Leah on the Offbeat from the library today, which immediately put every other book I planned to read on the back burner.  I can’t wait to dive in, which I’m going to do as soon as I finish working on this post!

On that note, I think that’s about it for me.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Weekly Recap #13: Week of 8/6 – 8/12

Hey everyone!  It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I’d like to say it was a nice, quiet, and relaxing week, but it’s hard to type that knowing my mind has been on very un-relaxing topics all week, like the threat of nuclear war and domestic terrorism.  It made for a lot of sleepness nights, which means, yes I did have a great reading week, but still…I guess it’s weighing heavily on my mind as I type this because I live about an hour away from Charlottesville, Virginia, and am just so heartbroken by what I’m reading in the news and knowing it’s going on right around the corner.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young woman who was killed and to all of those who were injured in the terrorist attack.  And yes, I’m calling it that because if it happened anywhere else and the driver of the car wasn’t a 20 year old white man, that’s what we would be calling it.  Sorry, I’m not usually so outspoken when it comes to topics like this. I’m just so frustrated right now…

Okay, just so my post isn’t all doom and gloom.  I also wanted to mention that I got the complete series box set of the Golden Girls.  I love this show so much, and the time couldn’t be better since I could clearly use something to cheer me up!  If Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia don’t do the trick, I don’t know what will!

Oh well, that’s enough from me.  Have a great week, everyone!

Weekly Recap #12: Week of 7/30 – 8/5

Hey everyone!  It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

We had a change in our weather pattern this week so it has felt like fall most days.  While I’m not ready for summer to leave us quite yet, the cooler weather did make for some lovely outside reading time for me.  I got two more books read than I had originally planned to, so yay! I’ve been working on my Summer TBR Wipeout challenge and finally, after nearly a year of them sitting on my TBR, I managed to get Heartless and Caraval read.  I adored Heartless and had mixed feelings about Caraval, but for those interested, reviews should be up sometime soon.  I also read an ARC of The ReadyMade Thief, which was another book that was just okay for me.  It was kind of like The DaVinci Code with a YA protagonist, but there was so much going on in the plot that seemed unnecessary, my interest kept waning.  I pushed through because I wanted to know why things were happening and who was ultimately responsible, but overall it just wasn’t a good read for me.  I doubt I’ll be writing anything more than what I just did on it.

See, lots of reading this week.  I also read an ARC of Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker.  I had a few issues with pacing at the beginning, but ultimately ended up devouring this book in a day.  I hope to have this review posted tomorrow.  Lastly, I also started (and hope to finish it today!) a YA thriller called Pandora Project.  I’ll be participating in my very first blog tour this Friday with a review of this one, so I’m excited about that. 🙂

Beyond that it has just been work as usual.  I do have a vacation coming up at the end of this month.  I haven’t decided if I’m going anywhere or not though. I just needed to use up some leave before I lose it, so it may just end up being a Stay-Cation where I read and relax at home alone for a few days.

Since there’s not much on TV in the way of new shows right now (aside from Game of Thrones, which I love), I’ve been on Netflix every night binge watching the series, Shameless.  It’s an addictive series that definitely lives up to its name.  I think my mouth hangs open in disbelief most of the time while I’m watching, lol. William H. Macy is brilliant in it though.

Oh well, that’s pretty much it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

Weekly Recap #9: Week of 7/9 – 7/15

Hey everyone!  It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

It has actually been a pretty quiet week for me.  The summer heat has arrived and with temperatures hovering near 100 and the humidity making it feel well above that, I’ve spent way more time inside than I would have liked.  One of these days I really want to have a swimming pool put in to make days like these more tolerable.  A girl can dream, right?

I’ve also been one of those moods lately where I want to watch movies, but not new or recent releases.  This week I watched Sister Act, The Breakfast Club, Dead Poet’s Society, The Empire Strikes Back, and the animated Beauty and the Beast.  Those just made me hungry for more older movies so I have E.T., The Goonies, and Raiders of the Lost Ark on deck for the upcoming week. Still plan to get lots of reading done though!

On the blog, I’ve had a good week as well. I posted the last of my July publication date ARC reviews so I’m keeping up with those nicely.  I also published another discussion post (finally!), so I’m excited about that since doing more discussion posts was probably my biggest blogging goal for this year. I also knocked 1,200 pages from my TBR this week (It was only 2 books, but they were huge, okay?  Haha!) I’m not doing great on my Summer TBR Challenge though – so far I’m only on my second of 12 books but hopefully I’ll turn that around soon.

On the agenda for today is lots of blog hopping and commenting since I’ve been kind of lax about that the past couple of days while trying to finish up Strange the Dreamer.  Incredible book, by the way. One of those that’s so amazing, it’s almost hard to put it into words for a review.

Well, that’s pretty much it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!
