Top Ten Tuesday – 10 Books By My Favorite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!

This week’s TTT topic is Books By My Favorite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read.  This is basically a post of shame for me because I have no excuse whatsoever as to why I haven’t gotten around to these books yet.  With the exception of The Archived, all of these books have been sitting on my shelf for at least a year now.  I’m chalking up to the fact that I am easily distracted away from the older books on my shelves by the shiny new books as they arrive.  I’m so awful about that that I have even picked up and started several of these, only to set them down and promptly forget about them as soon as I get my hands on a new release.

The Archived books are so much fun. I should reread them some time. Language of Thorns is great too and you can just read a story here and there. ASOIAF books are so daunting, especially if its been a bit between reading the books of the series.

You’ve got a really good mix of books here. You can never go wrong with Agatha Christie and I adore Kristin Hannah’s books! Happy Tuesday and Hugs…RO

The Archived made my list, too. It’s been sitting on my Kindle for ages, along with The Husband’s Secret. Liane Moriarty’s books get so much love, and I definitely feel like I’m missing out, lol.

I totally think it’s okay that you haven’t read Dance of Dragons yet, because who knows when or if we are ever going to get the last book!

The Husband’s Secret is so good! I still have to read The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty. I can totally understand A Dance with Dragons, that is a behemoth. I would highly recommend Murder on the Orient Express on audio – Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey is the narrator and he does an AMAZING job. It’s a pretty quick read, too.

Ooh, Daughter of Smoke and Bone is SO good. I really need to read Strange the Dreamer by Laini though. lol And I own The Archived too – it’s been on my shelves for SO long, but I’m slowly but surely making my way through her novels, so it will happen!!

Yes, I honestly think that’s the main reason why I haven’t made it a priority considering how much I adore all of the rest of her books.

I’m exactly the same! I always want to read the newest book to come into the house. All the old ones get neglected. I need to read Daughter of Smoke & Bone and The Archived, too. I hope we both like them.

I’ve seen the Archived on a few lists, and need to try Schwab. The Husband’s Secret I liked- hope you do too! And A Dance with Dragons is my favorite of the bunch in that series- again, hope you enjoy it. 🙂

These are all kind of new to me, but Sisterland immediately caught my eye immediately — such a great premise AND the sisterly connection too.

Yes, I’m not even quite sure why I haven’t read that one yet. I really love Sittenfeld’s writing and I think this is probably her most popular book.

  10. Brooke Lorren

I just started reading Throne of Glass this year. I still have to read Empire of Storms on up. You’ll like it when you get to it.

Whoever knows when/if Winds of Winter will be done, so it’s okay if you procrastinate on Dance with Dragons… it’s not like George RR Martin is rushing to finish the last two books! Have fun reading these.

Murder on the Orient Express is one of those books that I have wanted to read forever and I feel obliged to read as a bookworm, but I haven’t gotten around to. I have seen a million adaptations of it in movies and on TV (even a Doctor Who episode), but I have never experienced the original.

Anyway, Victoria Schwab is one of my favorite authors too, but I still have to read quite a few of her books. I have read (and loved) The Archived series, but I still need to read Vicious (especially with Vengeful out now!) and This Savage Song.

Great list and I hope you get to some of these soon!

Oh, Firefly Lane. The book that introduced me to Kristin Hannah several years ago. I loved the story of those two lifelong friends and was so invested. And it introduced me to a now-favorite author. 🙂

At least you know you aren’t alone in your shame. 🙂 And if you have to feel shame about anything, this is the best kind of shame to feel. The Husband’s Secret is the only one on your list I have read–and I enjoyed it. It’s actually the only book by Moriarty I have read so far. Several of your other books are ones I want to read–Daughter of Smoke and Bone, for one. But all of them really. 🙂
