Top Ten Tuesday: Cover Love – Mardi Gras Style

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!

This week’s TTT topic is Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers (in honor of Mardi Gras, which is today!).  I don’t usually do much for Mardi Gras honestly.  Back in college, we would have Mardi Gras themed parties and pre-COVID, my office would get a King Cake every year to mark the occasion. But that’s about it.  My favorite colors are purple, green, and yellow though so I’m happy to share some of my favorite book covers that feature those colors in honor of Mardi Gras.

Question:  Do you do anything to celebrate Mardi Gras? Have you read any of these books?

Thanks! Yeah, I’ve never really done much for it either. Going to New Orleans for it is one of those random travel bucket list items, but so far, it hasn’t happened.

Ooh, great cover picks. I love how bright all of these colours are 😍 I still have to read a lot of these books, too! Also, I just googled what a King Cake was and wow, so colourful, but also I now want some kinda cake 😂

Right? I think it would be a great time to experience it there. I saw that this year people have turned their yards into Mardi Gras floats so people can drive by and see them. I thought that was so cool.

We were talking on our Zoom call at work today how much we missed being together and sharing the King Cake. We always had fun with that.

HoF again! I really should have gone further back on my TBR. My green books are really not green for the most part. I have read 6 of these, and I had to featured Crown for purple. Love that books so much.

Mardi Gras isn’t a thing in the UK, we have Pancake Day instead. Of these I’ve only read Heir of Fire, which I loved, though Sorcery of Thorns is on my TBR.

Five of those are on my TBR list already. Based on the cover alone, I’ll be taking a look at Wicked Like a Wildfire to see if I want to add it, as well. Top Ten Tuesday is always dangerous to my goal of reducing my TBR list!
