Top Ten Tuesday – Who Influences Me? 10 Books I Read Because of Blogger Recommendations

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!

This week’s TTT topic is Books I Read Because Someone Recommended Them to Me (tell us who recommended them, if you want!).  I think posts like this are a lot of fun.  I love to look back through the books I’ve read and see which great reads I probably wouldn’t have read at all if not for the recommendations of bloggers.  I also love posts like this because it shows that any of us can be influencers, regardless of whether we are small bloggers, big bloggers, or somewhere in between bloggers.  When the right review makes it to the right reader, magic happens. 🙂  I’m also quite sure I could have easily done a Top 50 list here too because all of you have influenced my reading since I started blogging.  The 10 I picked today are just the first 10 that popped into my head.

Oh gosh, Sadie. Suzanne, when I think of that title, this wave of sadness just settles over me every time. Thank you for including me on this list — and you are so right, every blogger is an influencer!

Yeah! So glad you picked up First & Then because of something I said. I hope you liked it! I actually read half of these and all were great.

Yay, glad to have made your list! I totally forgot that I also read The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet because of Greg!

Red Winter, Sadie, and American Royals are all on my TBR! I loved First & Then. The Raven Boys was a miss for me, unfortunately. I really wanted to like it because of the hype but I strongly disliked it. Happy Reading!

I’ve read Salt To The Sea, and I really, enjoyed seems the wrong word since it’s about a massive tragedy, but I certainly found it very interesting. The Raven Boys was actually a whim buy for me, I’m pretty sure I picked it up in a Waterstones because the cover was so pretty.

Yay, Red Winter! 🙂 Glad I made your list with this rec! Recommendations are always a little scary to give, because not everyone has the same tastes, but one the other hand it’s always so much fun when you can discover a new favorite because of someone else’s recommendation 🙂 And I love how you put it – all of us book bloggers are kind of influencers in this way, that’s such a nice way to think about it.

“When the right review makes it to the right reader, magic happens.” This is so true- I can’t even remember how many books I’ve tried because of blogger recs that I otherwise might not have! And more often than not I end up really liking them! I’m so glad too that I could talk you into reading Long Way. 🙂

I love that series so much. I just finished the second book a couple of weeks ago and am looking forward to starting the third one soon. 🙂

I’ve read SO many books because of blogger recommendations! Sam @ WLABB has been urging me to read First and Ten for a long time. The funny thing is, I actually tried at one point, but now I can’t seem to locate my copy! I also bought Sadie because of all the buzz about it (basically all of my blogger friends have loved it), but I haven’t read that one yet. I did love The Raven Boys (I think Cait @ Paper Fury made me read that one), Salt to the Sea and Red Winter, though.
