Can’t Wait Wednesday – THE FOUR WINDS by Kristin Hannah

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about.  It is a meme that I have  loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is THE FOUR WINDS by Kristin Hannah.  Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors so I’m beyond excited that she has a new book coming out early next year.  I also haven’t read much historical fiction set during the Dust Bowl era so that interests me as well.  I’m also very glad that the blurb indicates that it’s a story of hope even though the subject matter is sure to be pretty heavy.

THE FOUR WINDS by Kristin Hannah

Publication Date:  February 9, 2021 by St. Martin’s Press

From Goodreads:

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Nightingale and The Great Alone comes an epic novel of love and heroism and hope, set against the backdrop of one of America’s most defining eras—the Great Depression.

Texas, 1934. Millions are out of work and a drought has broken the Great Plains. Farmers are fighting to keep their land and their livelihoods as the crops are failing, the water is drying up, and dust threatens to bury them all. One of the darkest periods of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl era, has arrived with a vengeance.

In this uncertain and dangerous time, Elsa Martinelli—like so many of her neighbors—must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or go west, to California, in search of a better life. The Four Winds is an indelible portrait of America and the American Dream, as seen through the eyes of one indomitable woman whose courage and sacrifice will come to define a generation.

I have only read one book by Hannah (I am sure you can guess which one), but it was really good. Her characters were fantastic and I can imagine her doing an incredible job with this concept.

But I haven’t read The Great Alone or The Nightingale yet! She’s coming out with great sounding books all too fast. LOL I hope you enjoy this one when you read it, Suzanne. I don’t think I’ll be able to resist this one either. Have a great week and Happy Reading!

LOL! I’m keeping up with her new releases but it doesn’t leave me much time to go back and read her pre-Nightingale books which I really want to do.

This sounds like an absolutely brilliant read, I haven’t heard of this one before but I’ve seen many reviewers who have loved her former releases and super keen on giving this one a read myself!

I was sitting here thinking and can’t come up with many books I’ve read during this time period either. I’m looking forward to watching her bring it to life for me.
