Top Ten Tuesday – Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  Top Ten Tuesday has been one of my favorite memes ever since I started blogging, so huge thanks to Jana for taking over the hosting duties!

This week’s TTT topic is Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By.  This was an interesting topic for me, mainly because it really highlighted that since I’ve been blogging, I don’t often read many books by the same author.  With very rare exceptions such as Victoria Schwab and Leigh Bardugo, my obsession with those shiny, new releases has had me jumping from author to author for a while now.  Maybe I’ve read two or three books by the same author, but that’s about it.  To find anymore than that, I had to dig way back into my Goodreads history. In a couple of cases, I had to go back to my college coursework and in one case, I had to go all the way back to my childhood!

One author I included I was hesitant to do so, just because she has become so problematic on social media with some of her views. I finally decided to include her anyway for authenticity’s sake since she is definitely one of my most-read authors.  I may never read anything else from her again but that doesn’t erase her from my reading past.

Anyway, below are my most read authors, to date, as well as all of the books I’ve read from each of them.

Question:  What authors have you read the most books by?  Did any of mine make your list?

She who Will Not be Named is on my list too, and yes, as problematic as ever. But she’s there. I realised too that more than a couple of mine were from before I started blogging too. I think that blogging introduced me to so many new genres and possibilities and authors, that I very rarely looked back to a familiar author, if that makes sense?

Yeah, I think I’m the same way. I just keep wanting to discover more and more new-to-me authors. Every once in a while I’ll go back to an old favorite but that’s about it.

Haha at your she who will not be named.

I know what you mean with not reading as many books by the same authors. I’m so much more aware of what is being released these days that it is hard to focus on just a few authors.

I definitely also kind of jump from author to author; I read whatever sounds good, but there are a few authors I will always look out for. If I went all the way back to my childhood, Stephen King probably would have ended up on my list!

Yeah, I had to get in the wayback machine to find my most-read authors. These days, if I read two or three by the same author, I’m impressed with myself, lol.

I need to read more of Sarah J. Maas. I read all of her ACOTAR series but am only about half way through Throne of Glass. It’s really good though so I’m looking forward to finishing it.

I am really impressed by how far you went back. I didn’t do that, but if I did, I think Judy Blume would have made my list, because I read her children’s and teen books and there were quite a few of them. I have read quite a few by SJM too between ACOTAR and TOG.

I hate to say it but I probably would have forgotten to put Judy Blume on my list if I hadn’t re-read so many of her books with my son in recent years so they were showing up on my Goodreads “read” list. He was a huge fan of all of the Fudge books and of course I adored them too.

Judy Blume was a total mainstay in my childhood. In the 70’s and early 80’s I was reading everything she wrote… multiple times. 🙂 She had such an impact on those formative years for me.

Same here. I definitely would not be the reader I am today if not for her. I re-read a bunch of her books with my son a couple years ago and loved them just as much then as I did when I was a kid.

Sarah J Maas and VE Schwab are some of my most read authors too. I’ve read quite a few Leigh Bardugo but not quite enough to make her one of my top ten authors. She Who Must Not Be Named has actually dropped off quite naturally as I’ve only read the Harry Potter series and I’ve read more than 7 books by plenty of other authors.

I loved Judy Blume when I was younger! I have some more of Dan Brown’s books on my TBR. My list is a mix of authors I have not read recently/no longer read and some I am still actively reading.

I love this post idea! Looks like I have no most-read authors in common with you even though a lot of these look good! I haven’t even read books by Just Karen Rowling. I have a couple wishlisted books by Leigh Bardugo though. Maybe someday I’ll get to read them.
My #1 most read author would be Charlaine Harris, between the Sookie series and her multiple mystery series I’ve read a bunch of her books.

I really don’t read tons and tons of books by the same author. I’m slowly making my way through V.E. Schwab’s books though, so she’d probably be on my list. JKR would as well. I always forget to think of classic authors – so I’d add Shakespeare!

I actually completely forgot about Shakespeare. I took a 2-part seminar in college where we read all of his plays and sonnets. If I hadn’t had a senior moment and forgotten him, he would definitely be on my list, lol.

I love her too. I actually still have a few of hers I need to read. I haven’t done The Near Witch yet or The Archived.

This is a really fun list, and it tells us a lot about the kinds of books we like. I’ve barely read any of the authors on this list and I feel like I live under a rock. I have picked up a few books by V.E. Schwab, Sarah J. Maas, and Alice Hoffman that I really need to get to. So glad to see Toni Morrison on the list though, she is phenomenal.
