Weekly Recap #154: Week of 5/3 – 5/9

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there! I have no idea what my family has in store for me today, but I’m assuming it will be fairly low-key given the stay-at-home orders and such.  I just got a copy of A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood so I might just curl up on the couch, watch that, and relax.

Not much else is going on around here.  I’ve been feeling sluggish and blah the past couple of weeks so this week I’ve been making more of an effort to get outside and walk everyday rain or shine. That seems to be helping with the blahs so I plan to keep it up as much as possible moving forward.

I also finally pulled out a new jigsaw puzzle to mix things up with my reading and Netflix binging, and I don’t think I’m ever going to finish this one.  It’s a Monet flower garden and, while gorgeous, all of the pieces look alike to me. It has taken me two full days just to put together the outside border and I still can’t find one piece of that.  It’s also 2,000 pieces so it may last me until the next pandemic, haha.

I was somewhat quiet on the blog this week. I finished some great reads but just didn’t feel like writing the reviews for them. Hopefully I’ll get those written today.  I got mostly caught up on blog hopping, but that’s a never ending struggle for me so nothing new there.  I also fell down the Pinterest rabbit hole earlier this week when I was looking for items for my bookish party.  Usually I ignore Pinterest but once I go there, leaving is a real problem.  It’s like Hotel California.  I have had a Pinterest account for my blog but it was a personal account but decided I should probably have a business one too, especially in case I want to have non-bookish boards on my personal one.   I created the account but it’s basically the same as my personal one.  As with all social media, I have no idea what I’m doing with it, but if you want to follow, it’s up and running this morning and has 0 followers so it’s very lonely, lol.  —>  Pinterest

I also worked on my Bookstagram account a bit as well, trying to be more interactive, which is always a struggle for me, as is posting more than about once a week. I actually posted three times last week and I’m just like “Who ARE you?”

Anyway, that’s it for me.  I hope everyone out there is staying safe, healthy, and is practicing social distancing.  Have a great week!

Happy Mother’s Day, Suzanne! I know what you mean about the blahs. I’ve also had a tough mental week just because I listened to too many news stories and frankly, everything is depressing 🙁 But going on walks helps me too. I hope this week is good, and I hope you get to eat something yummy today😁

I’ve heard good things about the Shopaholic series but haven’t tried it yet. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂

It really is depressing and then I think my nerves are getting to me because of the push to reopen everything. It’s just too soon. I’m glad to hear walking is helping you too. It really helps to clear my head.

I´ve read The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black some years ago. It was my first book from her and though I had mixed feelings in the end, I read her others with growing joy. Happy reading, have a happy mother´s day and stay safe and well.

Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve been doing lots of puzzles during quarantine. I did one that was 1,000 pieces and it took me almost 2 weeks! I can’t imagine 2,000 pieces!

Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve been sick so this past week wasn’t terribly productive. I’m on the mend though, so hopefully I can get some more reading in, work on the blog, etc. etc. Dead to Me season 2 came out on Netflix as well and I really want to watch that. I hope you have a nice, relaxing day, and I can’t wait to see our upcoming reviews.

Thumbs up on the Hotel California reference. 🙂 OMG, a 2000 piece puzzle? Gah! We finally finished our first one on Friday. Took us almost 3 weeks (off and on). We just started on another and it’s so much easier. I’ll be finishing Big Summer today… I’m at 90-something percent. I’ll be looking forward to your review.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is going to take me until sometime this summer to finish at the rate I’m going. My son is trying to help but he’s partially colorblind so all of those flowers look even more similar to him than they do to me.

I think it’s kind of weird for everyone these days. I’m grateful we can just stay home and have what we need. I appreciate this downtime to not rush around. I have had more time to reflect and get to projects I was never able to do.

I enjoyed Real Men Knit and I’m looking forward to Hidden by Laura Griffin. Happy Mother’s Day!

    Take care and happy reading!

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Real Men Knit. I had seen a few mixed reviews for it so I skipped over it for the time being. I hope to read it after I finish what I’m currently working on though.

Walking daily truly help me too Suzanne! I think you are on the right track. Now it’s difficult not to feel blah in these times… I hope next week will be better for you.

I had to ban myself from Pinterest, because I would actually lose time there. The sun would rise and set, and I would still be pinning. That would be all good and well, if I was going to do something with all these pins, but we all know nothing would ever come of them. Glad a little time outside has helped with your mood. The weather here has been bizarre. I don’t think I have put shoes on since Tuesday. I will be looking out for your thought on your TBR books. I am reading one of them this week, and early reviews have not been great, though I think what is bothering people won’t bother me. The other two were meh for me.

LOL! That’s exactly what happened to me on Pinterest this week. I did veer off and find some good recipes on there that I probably will actually try to make but the rest of my time there definitely could have been put to better use elsewhere.

I hope you have a lovely Mothering Sunday, Suzanne – despite the lockdown! And I also hope the blahs pack up and return to where they came from really fast. The jigsaw sounds a beast, in a gorgous artistic kind of way… Have a peaceful, healthy week:)

Happy Mother’s Day! And I’m the same- getting out and getting some sunshine/air/walking is definitely helping me with cabin fever. And we’ve done some puzzles around here but those huge ones that take forever kill me lol.

I like Pinterest and fall down that rabbit hole a lot when looking for art stuff but I really have neglected my own boards. there is so much amazing stuff there! Bookstagram too I need to spend more time with.

    Happy reading this week!

Yikes, 2000 pieces of flower pieces that look similar–I’m sending you all the good puzzle vibes, haha. I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I haven’t much felt like writing reviews for a lot lately, sometimes it feels like pulling teeth (though some flow more easily). Catching up on blog comments/etc. is something I’m trying to really get back on track with now that my semester is over and I can focus for a week or two, haha. I just love the cover for Real Men Knit, the colors and image are just so fun. I hope you have a great week!

I hope you had a nice mother’s day, Suzanne. Your plan sounds perfect. I watched movies in the evening and drank some sparkling rose. Very indulgent. Today cleaning. I also feel the blahs off and on. I should get out for a walk today to alleviate these feelings but I have to admit, I’m wallowing in it a bit today. Looking forward to your upcoming reviews.

I hope you had a good mother’s day! I’ve actually been feeling pretty blah as well lately, so I think maybe I need to go out on more walks. I have been going on them on the weekend but it is harder for me to fit it in during the week. I feel so busy even though I am spending all of my time at home! Seeing you haul in Darkdawn reminds me that I really need to get to Godsgrave…
