Weekly Recap #139: Week of 1/19 – 1/25

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I’m sitting here trying to remember what I did this week so I can write this recap, but honestly the week is a blur. We had several all day trainings this week at work, which is probably what is accounting for the blur since I’m pretty sure I dozed through most of the sessions I had to sit through.

The weather also turned cold again, and super windy, so if I didn’t have to go to work or run my son to soccer practice, I spent most of my time hibernating in the house. I continued to plug away at my January ARCs. This time last week I still had 4 left to read and now I’m down to 1 and a half.  I’ll probably do a post of mini reviews for all of them later this week and then I’m also working on a post of mini reviews for the backlist books I’ve read so far this year.  While I kind of failed at keeping on top of my ARCs in January, I’ve been pretty successful with reading books I already own. I’m on my 7th backlist book of the month and may have time to start an 8th.

I also spent a little bit of time this week researching Peloton bikes. I’ve been thinking about investing in one because I love the idea of the live classes without having to actually go to the gym, but I just can’t decide if it’s worth the money.  Have any of you tried one?

Oh well, I think that’s pretty much it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

I saw that you started One Day in December. That book had my emotions all over the place. I hope you enjoy it. I Liked How to Build a Heart too. It think you did pretty well with your January ARCs, and being on my 8th shelf book one month into the year is amazing. Nice job!

I’m really enjoying One Day in December so far and agree about it taking emotions on a wild ride. I just hit a part that had me so sad for Laurie.

I am curious about what you’ll think of One Day in December Suzanne! It’s on my TBR for ages! And hybernate …yes that’s something I’d like to do right now LOL Have a great week!

All the books are pretty much new to me. January seems to be the month where everything is either a blur or we have to do things that make us doze off *lol* I don´t use my bike I have standing indoors, anymore. As soon as I´ve got some time left, I will wrap it up and store away to get some space for new shelves. Happy reading.

I feel like this time of year, every week is a blur and every day feels the same! I love the idea of the Peloton, I’ve pretty much given up on going to a gym but it’s hard to get in exercise at home.

I’ve given up on the gym too. We paid for a membership last year and neither of us went more than once or twice the whole year.

Sounds like the training sessions were a snooze. I had to attend a webinar Friday afternoon and it was similar… my attention was everywhere but. The Peleton equipment seems awesome but I just cringe at the price. Yes, there’s the convenience factor but the cost… yikes. I really enjoyed One Day in December. Hopefully you are as well.

Yeah, the price is the main thing giving me pause about the Peloton. I keep telling myself that it’s no more expensive than a family membership to the gym and that it can be financed, but I still do a double take every time I see the price tag, lol.

I always hate work trainings and meetings that drone on forever lol. And some weeks are totally like that- they just go by in a blur. Mine was kinda like that too- I was writing my Sunday Post and was like, what did I do this week? And drew a blank lol.

The look Alike and The Other People both look good!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

That’s exactly the way I was. Drew a complete blank. Even two days later, I still don’t remember what I did last week, lol.

Ooh, curious about The Wrong Mr. Darcy (of course anything with Darcy mentioned is attention grabbing to me! LOL) 😂 I’m also reading How to Build A Heart right now… I’m hoping to finish it by tomorrow! Hope you’re enjoying it 🙂

Great job on reading what you own! I’m reading a lot from the library this month and actually using my Audible Escape deal a bit, along with KU deal. It was colder here last week too and I don’t like it but we are back to the autumn type weather I like which only requires a light jacket.

I hope you get more caught up this week and read some amazing books!

We actually just bought one! They call them spin bikes here but they’re the same thing from my quick Google search. They’re not all that different from the old exercise bikes, the only difference is the positioning in sitting and the handlebars. The seat is further back so you lean forward a little more which really works those muscles. Also, you can stand up and adjust the tension so it feels as though you’re riding up hill. My husband loves it, he’s been using it everyday and getting such a workout from it. I’d highly recommend one!

Those all day trainings sound boring and tiring! At least you’re getting a lot of reading done though! That’s a good way to start the new year. I’ve never seen those bikes but I think someone was telling me about them recently. Seems like a good idea if you like group fitness classes? I’m not entirely sure I understand how the whole things works lol, but you’ll have to tell us about it if you get one.

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

I’m still trying to figure it out myself. I think the bike comes with a subscription service that live streams classes if I’m understanding it correctly. We’ll see. The hubby and I are still talking about it.

It sounds like a long work week and when it is cold I definitely support any hibernating behaviour. I tend to do that too as I hate the cold. Yay for getting so much reading done as well. That sounds like a good week to me, reading wise 😉

Thankfully the weather has warmed up this week. We’ve had 3 very spring-like days in a row. I even wore short sleeves and no jacket today. So strange for February!
