Weekly Recap #130: Week of 11/10 – 11/16

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

So, it’s yet another week of me falling off the face of the blogosphere by mid week. This time my fur baby was the culprit.  I came home to take him out for a walk on my lunch break Thursday and when I got there, his face and snout were covered in mucus, he was coughing a lot, and he just wasn’t his usual animated self. I called the vet and made an appointment for him and she diagnosed him with a severe upper respiratory infection.  He’s on a double antibiotic treatment right now because she says puppies are very prone to getting pneumonia and she wants to do everything possible to keep that from happening.  So needless to say, I’ve been watching him like a hawk for the past three days making sure he’s taking all of the meds and looking for any signs of distress with his breathing.  Thankfully he seems much more like himself today so I think the meds are starting to work. The picture is from Friday and he just looked so pitiful and miserable.

The only book I finished reading this week was Leigh Bardugo’s King of Scars.  It was a real struggle to concentrate on my reading once Winston got sick so instead I fell down the Disney Plus rabbit hole and watched movies from my childhood most of the weekend.  I also watched (and loved!) the first two episodes of The Mandalorian.  Another good one on there for anyone who loves Christmas movies is Noelle, which stars Anna Kendrick. That one is cute and pretty funny.  I also watched the live action Lady and the Tramp.  Obviously no where near as good as the original animated version, but it wasn’t bad.  I thought they did an especially nice job with the spaghetti scene at Tony’s.  I had a few tears of nostalgia while watching that and listening to Bella Notte, lol.

My husband is home today to help with watching and medicating Winston so I should be making the rounds to see all of the blog posts I’ve missed since Wednesday.

Have a great week, everyone!

Oh, bless him! He really looks sorry for himself:(. No wonder you have been watching him like a hawk… I hope the coming week sees a real improvement – the good thing about animals is that they tend to bounce back really quickly once they start feeling better.

Yes, he has been doing a great job of letting us know exactly how miserable he feels, lol. He does finally seem to be bouncing back a bit though, which is good to see.

Aww poor guy! I hope he’s all better soon!

I need to get Disney Plus, I imagine they have a ton of fun old movies plus the Mandalorian of course, which sounds pretty good. Can’t wait. 🙂

Hope you have a nice new week.

I saw on another blog a dog with the upper respiratory and getting antibiotics. It’s going around. Luckily, we are all good here. Lulu is chewing computer cables now so I moved them up where she can’t reach them this morning.

You are reading some great stuff and I hope you get more time to read this week!

Yes, my vet actually mentioned that there’s a strain of flu that dogs have been getting. Thankfully my pup seems to have more energy this evening. Hoping he continues on the upswing.

Poor pup! At least you got some R&R in while you nursed him back to health. I hope you love Evvie Drake, because that book was the best sort of surprise for me. I simply adored it.

I’m so excited for Evvie. I hadn’t planned on reading it this week but my audio hold at the library came through so I moved it to the head of the line.

Aww your poor puppy!! He does look miserable in that photo. I’m glad the meds seem to be working and I hope he’s back to his usual self soon! It’s never fun to have sick pets. I really want to get Disney Plus; I’d love to see the movie Noelle among many other things.

Oh no, hope your puppy feels better soon. How miserable.
I’ve been hearing everyone talk about Disney Plus this week. I’m no a TV watcher (don’t have Netflix, don’t follow any shows, etc) but seeing all the childhood faves must be fun.
I’m interested in checking out the new one from Jojo Moyes.

Aww, poor puppy! Glad he’s on the mend.

We’ve been sucked into Disney+, too! Already watched The Mandalorian and the World According to Jeff Goldblum. I kind of like how they don’t release all the episodes at once!

Goodness, yours is the third puppy I’ve seen with a respiratory illness this week, it must be the weather change. I hope he’s feeling better soon.
I enjoyed Giver of Stars, and I’d like to read Evie Drake.
Wishing you a great reading week

Oh my goodness Winston is adorable at the same time that he’s so pitiful too. Being sick sucks for all beings great and small, but I am so glad he’s on the mend! Looking forward to your review of King od Scars too — one i have been very curious about.

It really is scary. I’ve not gotten much sleep the past few days worrying about him, but thankfully he seems to be feeling a little better today.

    Kelly says:

Oh no poor puppy! It’s horrible when our furbabies are sick, they don’t understand what’s going on. Our little dog has a chronic illness where his breathing needs to be monitored as well. A good way to check is to count their breaths and now many they take within half a minute while resting and then double it. It should be 30 breaths per minute or under and anything over that, it’s a good idea just to call the vet and let them know. I hope he’s on the mend now, he’s absolutely beautiful Suzanne!

Poor Winston! I don’t blame you for watching him like a hawk! I hate it when the furbabies get sick… Almost more than when the actual kiddo gets sick as they can’t complain and look so much more pitiful! (I’m only half joking, 😉 )
I hope he continues to improve this week!

Disney + is something I can’t wait to see! We don’t get it in the UK until sometime in the Spring. 🙁

Thank you. He seems to be doing much better today so I’m really hoping he continues to improve. Disney + is pretty cool. So far I’m finding it well worth the money.
