Weekly Recap #109: Week of 6/16 – 6/22

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I’ve been on vacation (well, stay-cation) all week and I really don’t want to go back to work tomorrow.  It has been a relaxing and productive week and I’ve had tons of fun with our new puppy, who is settling in so well already.

Aside from enjoying my time off and getting some projects done around the house, I’ve also been watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup soccer matches all week.  I love watching soccer anyway but these matches are intense and really keep me on the edge of my seat.

I’ll be spending today finishing up my reading of Something Like Gravity because tomorrow is my stop on the blog tour for this book.  I’m really enjoying it, just got a little distracted by the puppy and soccer and got behind in my reading.  I’m also still plugging away on the Iron Throne readalong.  I’m getting sucked into the story all over again and finished last week’s reading as well as part of the upcoming week’s reading.

This week I’m finishing up my last June ARC and getting started on my July ARCs.  If I make good progress on those, then it will be back to reading some books from my backlist.  I had been doing so well on that but haven’t read much of anything backlist in June.

I guess that it’s for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

I’m glad you’ve had such a lovely week with the new puppy!

I’m looking forward to reading your review of Call It What You Want. It’s waiting fairly near the top of my TBR!

I actually finished last week’s Iron Throne Readalong section a couple days early, but didn’t read ahead. It’s so fun, though!

Glad to hear your stay-cation was productive!

Yes, I feel like I’m actually more invested in this story the second time around. It’s especially interesting to be reminded of where certain characters started and where they ended up.

Yeah for great stay-cations! A puppy is a challenge, but it sounds like you are having fun with the little guy. Ahh, you got Love & Other Words. That bad boy is on my favorites shelf. So. Many. Feels. Hope you like it.

I can’t wait to get to it. I saw it on sale, remembered you mentioning how much you enjoyed it, and couldn’t resist making the purchase.

I know how it is difficult to get back to work after being on holiday Suzanne! I am still waiting for my off time LOL Now I wonder what you’ll say about Call It What You want!

Ah, a staycation sounds heavenly about now. Glad you enjoyed it. But going back to work is always tough. Hope it’s an easy week for you. I’ll be looking forward to your reviews of both Smith’s and Kemmerer’s books this week.

Yes, it was really hard to go back to work today. Thankfully it was a quiet day which made the transition a little less painful, lol.

Ugh, going back to work after a lovely week off always sucks and I’m sure it’ll be worse this week because you’ll be leaving the puppy. 🙁 Fingers crossed it’s not actually that bad and the days go quickly!

I’ve been studiously avoiding the women’s world cup. Any temptation to watch it died when Scotland got eliminated.

Hope you have a good reading week!

      Suzanne says:

That was a bummer about Scotland getting eliminated. There have been a lot of bad calls in the matches I’ve watched so far.

Staycations are nice. 🙂 And glad to hear your new addition is settling in nicely! I love watching the World Cup matches- I think they’re exciting! Love seeing all the different teams compete.

The Girl The Sea Gave Back is one I’m looking forward to as well.

I’m really excited for The Girl The Sea Gave Back too. I wasn’t expecting to actually be approved for it so that was a pleasant surprise.

It sounds like you had a wonderful week of vacation, Suzanne! So nice to have he puppy settling in! Great job getting your reads on track so you may be able to read some backlist too! I would love to be in that position- I’m working towards it! ♥️

Good luck on tackling your backlist. It’s challenging when there are constantly so many amazing new books coming out, but it’s certainly my kind of challenge, lol.
