Weekly Recap #101: Week of 4/21 – 4/27

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I woke up at 7 this morning so that I could write this post and a couple of reviews in peace and quiet.  I tiptoed downstairs as quietly as I could, sat down to write, and within 30 seconds, everyone else in the house was awake and hasn’t stopped talking and banging around since.  Annoying, much? LOL!

In spite of my annoyance this morning, this has actually been a pretty relaxing week for me.  It was spring break at my son’s school so there were no after school activities or soccer games to deal with.  Most people at work took vacation this week so it was super quiet for those of us who didn’t.  I was able to get a fair amount of reading done and got mostly caught up on the blog hopping I was so far behind on.  Middlegame actually ate up most of my reading time this week.  It was my first Seanan McGuire read and I unfortunately didn’t love it as much as I had hoped I would so it was a chore to get through all 528 pages.  I’ll have a review up sometime soon to share my thoughts.

What else?  I have not seen Endgame yet and have been trying to avoid spoilers.  So far I’ve been successful and hope to see the film next weekend.  I really did want to see it this weekend but the only tickets available were for the front row and I just can’t watch a movie that close to the screen.  Silly me hadn’t realized people would start buying them so far in advance, lol.  Tickets for next weekend haven’t been released yet so I’m hoping I’ll get decent seats then.

And of course you know I’m going to mention Game of Thrones.  I loved the second episode of this season so much. I think it’s one of my all-time favorites.  No spoilers but a couple of scenes made me cry, and I’m sitting here on this Sunday morning just wishing the hours away until 9pm so I can watch episode 3.  I have a feeling I’ll be crying again but for completely different reasons, lol.

Well, that’s it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

Lol… I can sympathise with your annoyance! As for the GoT – we get to see it at 2 am if we want to watch it ‘live’ – and the last two weeks we’ve been doing so. Perhaps we’ll be all grown up and watch the recording we inevitably make – I watch it twice over with Thronecast thrown in at the end, anyway – but I doubt it! Middlegame is the next book on my TBR pile, and I’m quailing at the thought of 500+ pages, as I’m finding Children of Ruin something of a challenge… Oh well!

    Have a great week, Suzanne:))

I’ve been watching each episode twice as well. Don’t want to miss a single thing, lol. I really hope Middlegame is a better read for you than it was for me. I think I was being a lazy reader while reading it because it annoyed me that I had to work too hard to figure out what was going on and keep it all straight.

Didn’t get around to watching Endgame yet either, but will do. I’m liking that Wild and Crooked cover. Happy Reading.

Mornings are supposed to be quiet haha! Not so much unfortunately. 🙂

I haven’t seen Endgame yet but I read ALL the spoilers! I know, am I crazy? But I wanted to know what I was getting myself into, and honestly I would be so chomping at the bit to get to the theater if I hadn’t- now I can relax and just go whenever. Haha 🙂

I’ve been hit or miss with Seanan McGuire too…

    Enjoy GoT tonite!!!

LOL! I thought about reading the spoilers but decided against it. I may regret my decision as the week wears on though.

I woke early too (6.30am for me) – on a Sunday!! *shivver* I need to finish a book today for a reading challenge so I started reading when I woke up. I’m 80% done as I type this so a few hours in the blogosphere wont hurt, right?! Lol!
I hope you have a good week, Suzanne, and get a few moments of peace. x

Hah! I love that totally random. Sorry your quiet this morning didn’t last long, but yay for a nice, fairly relaxing week! I have Red, White, and Royal Blue to hopefully read ASAP!

I’m hoping to start it tonight after Game of Thrones. I have a feeling I’m going to be wanting a light and fluffy read after watching that, lol.

Hahahaha Suzanne I have the same plans on sneaking downstairs in the hope of blogging in a bubble of calm but it rarely works LOL And working when most are on holiday can be pretty great as it’s usually less busy. Happy Sunday!

Yes, I actually enjoy working when hardly anyone else is around. Those days are so productive without being stressful.

I read the Unhoneymooners about a week ago and really loved it. I hope you enjoy it as well. I’m about to put away the laundry and get back to writing reviews. I feel like I’m really behind on those. I hope you have a wonderful week.

I just finished The Unhoneymooners this morning and really enjoyed it. I feel like I’m always running behind on reviews, lol.

I am so jealous you got Virtually Yours. I want it so bad, but it’s not looking great. Oh, well, going to have to read my other billion books. We are both reading Sweetie this week. I feel like it will be a hit for me, and I hope you like it too.

I’m really excited about finally getting to Sweetie. If it’s anything like the first two books, it should be a fun read.

This looks and sounds like a great week, Suzanne! Happy you had a low key week and love the books you are reading. I am starting The Unhoneymooners too. Cannot wait! And yay to Mrs. Everything! I am on the edge of my seat ready to read that one. Have a great week ahead!

Boy, can I understand your frustration! My daughter is usually up between 5:45 and 6 am on weekends (so all those advice books about ‘get up 30 minutes earlier than the rest of your family to enjoy a quiet, relaxed start to your day!!!) can BITE ME, because I’m NOT getting up earlier than THAT! It’s so hard to get any kind of writing done with family members hanging around- it took me about two hours to write a review this morning in between my daughter’s constant chattering and need for me to find certain toys/fix something/help her in the bathroom/answer 32479832473982 questions. It’s close to a miracle that I manage to blog at all!

You’ve got some awesome books coming up!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

Lol, yep that sounds pretty much like what happens to me every time I try to blog when others are awake in the house.

Even though I’m interested in some tv and movies they never make their way to the top, it’s always books or audiobooks. I’m glad it was a relaxing week so you could get some things accomplished. I find some different or new to me genres or series I do better with audio. Enjoy your new read!
