Weekly Recap #98: Week of 3/31 – 4/6

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

First I want to start off with apologies for totally slacking this week in the blog hopping department.  I started out well but then about halfway through the week, I crashed and burned.  Work just really sucked the life out of me and by both Thursday and Friday evenings, nearly every time I sat down, I immediately dozed off.  We are critically short-staffed at work at the moment, and although some of the stress/workload will go away after the April 15th tax deadline, my team’s work is primarily audit-based, so we’re just getting geared up for our busiest time. We did just hire a new person though, so hopefully once she’s fully trained, things will level off.  Until then, the gif below is me pretty much every night and all weekend, lol.  For this reason, my What I’m Reading list below is probably way overly optimistic, especially considering I only finished 1 1/2 books this past week, but we’ll see how it goes.

Not too much else besides work went on this week, but my son did have his first Parks and Rec soccer game of the season.  He’s with a new team this time around, so I was thrilled when they won the game 6-0.  He’s playing midfield this time around too and looked really good out there, so I felt like all of our off-season training efforts are starting to pay off.  His next game isn’t until the 11th and then he has back-to-back games, including one on tax deadline day. I’m really hoping I won’t have to miss that one, but we’ll see…

After sleeping in late on Saturday, my son and I finally got to the theater to see Captain Marvel. We both really loved it.  Honestly it was way better than I thought it would be based on the mixed reviews I had read for it, so that was a very pleasant surprise.  There was also a great trailer for Avengers:  Endgame, so now I’m more excited than ever to see that in a few weeks!

Okay that’s it for now.  Have a great week, everyone!

Thanks! After seeing so many great reviews for it, I couldn’t resist picking up a copy while I was out this weekend.

I hope you have an opportunity to rest after tax-season is over. Hopefully, the new team member will take some work off your shoulders. <3 You got so many great books this week. I can't wait to read The Night Tiger and The Girl He Used to Know.

    Happy readings! 😉

Good luck with the schedule. Luckily my daughter’s old enough I can just get in bed and sleep early if I need it and she can fend for herself. I have so many things I want to do and I’m trying to pack it all in as much as I can every day.

I want to see Captain Marvel and hope it is still in some theater later in the month when I might be able to go.

Have a good week and be kind to yourself in this hectic time!

That GIF looks about right regarding work haha! It seems like so many places of business are short staffed these days, it’s like an epidemic lol.

Congrats to your son’s team on their win! And I was pleasantly surprised by Capt. Marvel.

I hope the new person is up and running soon and works out well to help relieve some of the load on everyone in your workplace. I feel you about being understaffed. We’ve been working that way for what seems like forever, and there’s little relief in sight. Yay to your son’s soccer team for their recent win! We are looking forward to the new Avengers movie was well. I am glad you enjoyed Captain Marvel. We did too.

Middle Game sounds so good! I hope you enjoy all your current reads and new books. I just finished reading The Night Tiger.

I hope you have a great week, Suzanne!

I hope the new hire at the office makes a difference and takes up some of the slack. I absolutely love The Girl He Used to Know. One of my very rare 5 star reads. I just started The Bride Test this morning. After loving The Kiss Quotient last year I have high hopes for this one.

That sounds crazy busy at work. I remember a few times being short-handed, doubling up, and working with a trainee. Pretty sure I didn’t even get a book and a half read. LOL
Glad the movie was good and the first soccer game went splendidly.
You got some good ones in this weeks haul. Enjoy!

I am happy your son’s first game went so well, and good luck with tax season. I liked The Girl He Used to Know. I think I am going to download the Abbi Waxman book. I am trying not to commit to so many ARCs, but it’s there, waiting for me, and it sounds good.

I had the same with Captain Marvel, low expectations and pleasant surprise at the end)))

Ahh, sorry last week was so hectic at work! I hope that this week is a bit better although I know only around the middle of the month will you even begin to have some normalcy, right?

Yay for your son doing so well with soccer! Sounds like he’s in a good space this season! Also glad you guys enjoyed Cpt Marvel so much. I’m so far behind in the Marvel universe right now. I will have to try to catch up.

Love your totally random. As always. 🙂

I hope work eases up for you a bit. I had to miss my son’s baseball game last Saturday. I didn’t get to see any of his flag football games due to work but thankfully my mom was able to make it. I hope you are able to rest this coming week.

That’s great that your mom was able to be there when you couldn’t be. Thankfully my husband is my son’s coach so he’ll be there no matter what.

Reading is my form of escapism and although I’ve always got my nose in a book it’s the blogging and reviewing that sometimes feels like a chore, Lol! I enjoyed reading your post and tip my cap to your obvious organisational skills; mum, wife and busy job! You are a domestic Goddess. x

I try, but I do wish I was a little better at organization when it comes to blogging. Some weeks I feel like I’m just flying by the seat of my pants, lol.
