Can’t Wait Wednesday – AURORA RISING by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about.  It is a meme that I have  loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is AURORA RISING by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. Yes! The dynamic writing duo behind The Illuminae Files is back with a new series!  The Illuminae Files is one of my favorite sci-fi series so I’m thrilled Kristoff and Kaufman are at it again.  The cast of characters in this new series sounds fantastic too.  I predict lots of action and adventure, with a heavy dose of snark and sarcasm, and I can’t wait!  I unfortunately already got rejected for an ARC, but thankfully May is just around the corner.

AURORA RISING by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Publication Date:  May 7, 2019

From Goodreads:

From the internationally bestselling authors of THE ILLUMINAE FILES comes an epic new science fiction adventure.

The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the Academy would touch…

A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass techwiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering

And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem—that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline-cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.

They’re not the heroes we deserve. They’re just the ones we could find. Nobody panic.

Yes, I can’t wait for this either! I requested it on NetGalley, but I haven’t heard back so I’m assuming that’s a no, haha. Regardless, I’m glad it’s out soon because I’m starting to see so many incredible things about it!

My daughter and I were just talking about this one today. I have been chomping at the bit for it, since Amie Kaufman told us about it at the Obsidio signing I went to (last year?). It sounds amazing.

After they knocked the Illuminae series out of the park I’m super curious now to see what Kaufman and Kristoff come up with!

Gosh, hasn’t this one caused an uproar during the week with internationals! Everyone scrambling to order the UK special edition and breaking their website. I can’t remember the last time I’d seen so many people fussing over the same book! I’m looking forward to reading this one too when the hype dies down a little. Even thought they’re both Aussie authors, there are very few ARC editions in Australia too unfortunately so I didn’t request either. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you think of it!

It has been a while since I participated in this Meme and I forgot how fun it was to share what I am waiting for and to see what everyone else chooses. Great choice this week! 😀

I haven’t read much in the way of sci-fi lately, but I really enjoy seeing it on the big or little screen. The cover of this book looks really cool, and the story sounds interesting. Most of the books I’ve been waiting on so far, are mostly suspense or thrillers. Hope your day is fantastic! Hugs…RO
